<2> woglinde org.oe.dev * ra64510... / (1 conf/bitbake.conf):
<2> conf/bitbake.conf: allow new field custom for TARGET_SYS
<2> some architecture has no sub-arch like msp430, so
<2> we should honor this because otherwise the configure-scripts
<2> for binutils and gcc won't work the right way
<1> yes
<3> hey kerwood, rp or anybody: im trying to use 'bitbake -s' to list the preferred versions of all packages but it doesnt work unless i build something - do i have something set wrong somewhere? or is there another way to do this?
<4> poushag: I don't know. did you read the bitbake manual?
<3> yes i read it - thats how i discovered the -s switch
<3> how do you list the preferred packages, kerwood?
<5> poushag: I've never used the -s switch :)
<3> well how do you know what packages versions are going to be in the stuff you build?
<5> I know the conf files too well ;-)

<4> poushag: yah, usually you build your desired package and find out after-the-fact
<3> well i wonder if the -s switch is broken
<4> jesus!!!! it works for me!! it ran off the screen!
<5> bitbake -s works for me too
<5> 'night all
<3> yeah well for me it seems to just hang - let me try again
<4> poushag: make sure your env vars are correct
<3> what directory did you run it from?
<5> I suspect it will need a bit of thinking power to work that lot out with the current dependencies code
<3> my bbpath and bbfiles are correct - are there any other vars?
<4> I ran it from the samedirectory I build everything from -- the one which has the build, org.open..., and tmp directories
<4> goodnight RP
<3> is the ;handling bitbake files' step supposed to take a long time? - it seemed to me that since it's a cache it should be quick afterthe first time
<3> night rp
<4> now that you mention it, it seemed to take longer than usual to get going
<1> bitbake -s works here too
<3> bitbake -s is running right now - but reading the cache (if thats what 'handling files' means) is taking at least 10 minutes for 3912 files
<1> yes the first time
<3> (using .dev branch)
<1> the cache is the cache
<1> then
<1> the
<3> seems like every time to me
<1> which version of bitbake do you use?
<3> i mean when does the cache get cleared out?
<3> 1.4.2 - just started using it this week
<1> when you work on your local.conf
<1> did your clear your tmp?
<1> bitbake 1.4.2 works here too
<3> if i update mtn will that clear the cache?
<1> yes because you have to download a nee oe.mtn
<3> ok that must be what happened this time - does the cache also get cleared when i log out my userid?
<1> no
<3> ok good
<1> remove the cache clears the cache
<1> maybe if they timestamp is too long the cache is renewed
<1> but I dont know excatly
<3> doing mtn update - does that clear all of tmp? or just cache?
<1> never looked in the source-files of this part
<1> it can make the cache invalid
<1> but not tmp
<3> alright - im still trying to understand all this oe stuff - i really want to disable builds of all the locale stuff i will never use
<3> can that be done in a fairly simple way?
<1> I am forget 5 seconds after someone post here
<1> all the time
<1> maybee its in the handbook
<1> let me see
<4> poushag: not feeling so cosmopolitan?
<4> :)
<3> heheh - well i know a little espanol and a few words of tagalog but i cant see why i should have to clog up my collie with it
<1> hm the locales only get build
<1> but not installed
<1> sorry cant find it
<4> actually, it's not clear to me that you have to install that baggage. I thought ipkg did that checking for you
<3> well my build machine is pretty slow too - so i dont want to build stuff i dont need - even if it wont get installed
<1> nite all
<4> goodnight woglinde
<4> kergoth: like a unified development environment for embedded apps, against all contrary forces?
<4> When do we start singing hosanna?
<4> :)

<6> do13: ping
<7> Kerwood_: all sorts of random things, things i wanted to see done differently back when we first implemented them :P
<4> kergoth: *sigh* the price of collaboration...
<4> kergoth: the trade is fair, yet there are still regrets, I suppose...
<2> justinp org.oe.dev * rf06dad... / (339 files in 62 dirs): x11: change virtual/x11 to virtual/libx11
<8> JustinP: arrrg.. and I just pulled :(
<8> has anybody tried to get the fbvncserver kbdsim module to compile for 2.6.17?
<8> I am trying to understand the .bb file, but I think I might need a current example of how to get a 2.6 kernel module to build correctly.
<9> see the hostap-modules recipe
<2> pH5 org.oe.dev * rf097c... / (4 files in 2 dirs): fontconfig: split out debug info, fix for #1218

<1> he koen
<2> koen org.oe.dev * rb0d20942... / (1 conf/distro/angstrom-2006.9.conf): angstrom: catch up with virtual/libx11
<1> hehe
<8> BTW, thank you everyone for migrating to monotone .27+.. I just did a pull and had 20+ revs come in in ess than 5 minutes :)
<8> That used to take ~1 hour - slow machine :)
<10> hi.
<1> hi gile
<10> I tried to bitbake e-uae and recognized some problems. How can I find out the maintainer of that package?
<1> hi polyonymous
<1> hm
<10> You frightened him
<1> nono
<6> gile: I just reported a bug this morning about e-uae
<1> he zecke
<6> with a suggested e-uae_0.8.28.bb
<6> gile: http://bugs.openembedded.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1247
<6> hi zecke
<11> koen: please do a clean rebuild :}
<10> cyrilRomain: Glad you are here. I tried your new .bb but it still fails on my machine.
<6> gile: huh :( Can you please pastbin it ? maybe can I try another help ;)
<9> zecke: a clean rebuild or what?
<10> cyrilRomain: Before I tried your new .bb I fixed that bug in 0.8.27 (some #include missing in some keymap header files) but then I came to a problem that I still have with the 0.8.28version: For some reasons the Makefile for nogui.c contains the include paths /usr/include etc for gtk. Seems to be a problem with pkg-config
<11> koen: of dbus :)
<6> gile: hm.. no idea then, sorry :-/
<10> cyrilRomain: I dumped a "which pkg-config" and got the correct path (...staging/i686-linux/bin/pkg-config). So I really wonder how pkg-config can return the wrong pathes.
<9> zecke: including wiping tmp?
<11> hmm
<10> cyrilRomain: do yo have gtk installed on your system?
<11> too tired atm
<11> later
<6> gile: on my host system ? no
<10> cyrilRomain: so it is possible that there is the same problem on your system but pkg-config does not find gtk+-2.0.pc so no include pathes are defined.
<6> gile: possible indeed
<10> cyrilRomain: So I have to look a little bit deeper into configure... :(
<2> koen org.oe.dev * rf32b2eb... / (1 packages/uae/e-uae_0.8.27.bb): e-uae: de-opiefy

<12> god I hate compiling stuff for debian
<13> morning
<6> hey mickeyl
<13> ~praise mtn 0.27
<14> All hail mtn 0.27!
<12> morning mickeyl
<13> good to see the majority on the GPL side
<13> some consumer-only folks are still complaining, but i guess that's natural
<9> mickeyl: good morning
<2> koen org.oe.dev * rc52d2dc... / (1 conf/distro/angstrom-2006.9.conf): angstrom: prefer a newer dbus
<15> I seem to be getting an error when running bitbake-myimage today (I updated my checkout this morning)
<15> genext2fs: couldn't allocate a block (no free space)
<15> ERROR: function image_cmd failed
<15> thats right after it does: bbimage -n stv-image-mini_itx-20060729140054 -t ext2 -e /home/tom/stv/oe-stv/stv/packages/stv/stv-image.bb
<15> is there a miximum size limit for bbimage or something?
<15> I have two packages - both are quite large
<15> I can create an image with one, or the other, but not both at the same time
<9> iirc the ext2 image stuff defaults to 64MB
<15> koen: is there a way top make it larger?
<2> koen org.oe.packaged-staging * rad77752... / (3 files in 2 dirs):

<2> cl***es/packaged-staging.bbcl*** : various
<2> * turn off staging for native and cross packages
<2> * create directories before trying to write files into them
<2> * blacklist packages trying to poke at staging *and* cross
<2> * symlink staging/usr to staging/
