<0> Dustoff159: One of those is boot order. If you start your computer with the external HDD connected and set it to boot, you can put Linux on it and run it from there.
<0> Dustoff159: If you set it to boot from the external drive by default on all your computers, you can simply plug the drive in, restart and be in Linux. If it's not plugged in, it will try the next option (Windows).
