<0> solid_liq: you mean a radeon 9250, I hope <1> poningru> ...and you know this how>? <2> solid_liq: nvidia is highly unstable with composite ;) <1> lol <2> at least in my opinion <0> goodnight <3> Luke-Jr be back tomorrow <4> lazellama: lets meet up I will get some instruments from my uni <4> and we will measure the speed of light <5> Cardiba: but it doesn't work at all on any of my ATI chipsets <2> poningru: oh .. nvm .. you are right <5> poningru: actually light can be slowed down and even stopped <1> poningru> on earth you and i will measure light. sure. i'll meet up with you. but that won't prove anything <4> solid_liq: but due to gravity <1> lets go to space and do it there <1> ;)
<6> himitsu, allow me to paste my question/problem <6> I have started an NBD server on one machine, and shared a block device on a certain port. I then went to the client machine, and did nbd-client hostname port /dev/nbd0 . The block device that is being shared is a ReiserFS drive. On the client machine, I tried mount -t reiserfs /dev/nbd0 /mnt/nbd, but it says wrong FS type. What FS type should I specify. Also, in the documentaion, the next step after nbd-client host port /dev/nbd0 was to mke2fs/d <7> Cardiba, Yeah I've done true transparency with Xorg before. <7> But it was slow and laggy. <7> I can do it better in windoze. <2> infinitus: then enable that GLX thingy <7> but if i do, things won't work right in XX. <7> X <2> poningru: well, even air does slow down the light, doesnt it? <4> lazellama: ic so aether == space? <2> poningru: (but only as long as it is in the air) <3> stoned do something like less /dev/nbd0 and see that data is transmitted <4> Cardiba: not to the effect these people say <3> and file -s /dev/nbd0 <1> poningru> dunno. just know of the theory. <4> Cardiba: and even that is disputed <2> poningru: so light that goes through matter wont be slowed down? <2> or this point is disputed <5> talking about aether is like saying, "space is enclosed withing space" <2> ^- do i understand that correctly? <5> bah <6> /dev/nbd0 is not a regular file (use -f to see it) <4> Cardiba: it does <5> Cardiba: no, some gases, esp. when charged with electricity, can slow down light <3> space is aether, I ***ume.. it isn't enclosed in itself <2> solid_liq: yeah, thats why i was asking <5> Cardiba: check www.phys.org <2> seems that I misunderstood something <4> but... <4> there have been disputed evidence for that <1> such as.. <6> i can't cat/less the /dev/nbd0 <3> why not? <8> so frustrating! <2> solid_liq: this adress seems not to be what you want .. <6> I am fine on the server side, its the client side I have to worry about <4> still most of the scientific community is in agreement regarding the slowdown of light through matter <3> stoned be on the client side <4> regarding the evidence <4> it was on physorg and slashdot a while back <4> I guess I can dig it up <2> poningru: but it must not be true if everyone say it. the majority isnt always right <8> that 1 gig ram I got while back which caused my machine to turn on and not have any output onto screen and make beeping noises, parents think it's because of linux <2> ;) <9> i dont think so WinInAWin <10> back <8> Didn't even get to linux! <2> quizy :o <3> linux doesn't load until after the bios is running and working <8> mind you, when it did, it froxe <10> Cardiba !! <4> Cardiba: yes thats true... but the majority agree with you <8> Kevin`, exactly! <11> So what happened earlier on this channel? <2> Kevin`: and until the boot loader starts loading the kernel ;) <9> iether the chip is inn wrong or the cpu is fried <3> or the chip is bad, or not supported properly <9> or the video card isnt in all the way <1> lol <1> oro <1> -o
<9> yeah might not be a compatible ram type <2> gnub: which is very unlikely <3> or the bios was programmed to make beeping noises at this time by a disgruntled employee <9> like ddr dim ddr 230 etc etc <6> alright guys, here. http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~pavel/nbd/nbd.html <-- according to this page, AFTER nbdserver is up and runing, you get on client, and "nbd-client serverhost port /dev/nd0" . Then second step is " mke2fs /dev/nd0 " But the network block device being shared is a ReiserFS file system. I don't know if running the second commmand would wipe my disk or not <2> Kevin`: the illuminati! <6> can anyone kindly take a peek and give me apointer or two <5> Cardiba: crap, give me a min. to figure out the right site name :D <2> solid_liq: heh ;) <8> Kevin`, I have no employees <3> stoned mke2fs would wipe the disl <3> k <8> this is home computer <2> solid_liq: physorg.com <2> I suppose <4> arr <3> WinInAWin I mean an employee at the company that made the software for the bios <3> ;) <2> solid_liq: or physics.org <6> Kevin`, so what should I do? <12> hi anyone knows how to uninstall .bin program in linux ? <9> then u screwed up putting it together check all the wires, and card connections <2> mRCUTEO: just remove it <4> mRCUTEO: just delete it <4> rm <12> oh okie <12> how to locate the files whe it got installed> <3> stoned get on the client and see if you can read from the nbd device <12> how to locate the files whe it got installed? <9> can u put the original ram card in it and boot? <10> news babe has family-montezuma's blood in her <2> mRCUTEO: hard to say. generally applitations that install files come up with an uninstall app <12> oh :( <4> mRCUTEO: which app is this? <8> Kevin`, ok. well, you're wrong anyway <3> WinInAWin I sure hope so <2> mRCUTEO: you can check the timestamps of all files, and try to locate them while looking for all files created at a certain date, when the app was isntaleld <3> generally I avoid .bin distributed apps for linux like the plague <3> (I ignore them) <4> indeed <8> guys, is there any reason why linux won't accept these 1 gig ram cards? <2> Kevin`: But consider people using it (YES, they exist) - and you are here to flame and help people <2> thats what this channel is for ;) <5> Cardiba: hehe, www.physorg.com <2> WinInAWin: Are you overclocking it? <2> solid_liq: ok <8> Cardiba, no <3> WinInAWin yes it's possible, but that isn't the problem if the bios is beeping <2> WinInAWin: latency changed? <5> WinInAWin: nope, it'd be your mobo <2> WinInAWin: enabled highmem support? <3> highmem is for >4gb I think <9> or a bad bios setting before u swaped mem <3> isn't needed for 1 <2> Kevin`: there was such a for 1gb <5> WinInAWin: without highmem support, you'll only see the first ~980MB of ram <13> How do I mount a ext3 partition with group=1001? <2> without it you could handle only 768mb <9> this has nothing to do with linux ur having iether a hardware or bios problem <3> Cardiba not in modern linux versions <5> I have to have that enabled for my 2 gig ram machine <2> Kevin`: Gentoo is obsolete? <2> 2005.1? <5> Cardiba: no, it's like 980 <3> Cardiba I consider 2.4 obsolete for pcs <2> solid_liq: For sure it was only 768. :o <8> Cardiba, highmem support? how do I enable that? <3> WinInAWin this is NOT THE PROBLEM <3> ignore our bickering about it <2> Kevin`: most probably yes <8> Kevin`, k <2> WinInAWin: it would just cause some missing memory, mostly <8> hmm <8> must be faulty ram
