<turbofisk> I tried before, but the cvs is newer now, so it might work now <turbofisk> but I can't remember how I applied the diffs <Kevin`> echo *.diff |xargs -n 1 patch -p 1 <turbofisk> turbo@slobodan:~/tmp$ echo *.diff |xargs -n 1 patch -p 1 <turbofisk> turbo@slobodan:~/tmp$ <turbofisk> nada happened :S <theUg> Snap, I changed the flag, but I cannot seem to realise how to save and exit. Ctrl-C or something? <Kevin`> what's miranda <Kevin`> theUg <theUg> Kevin`IM client I think <Kevin`> you should also toggle the other partition <Kevin`> 2 bootable and it will get confused <theUg> Kevin` oh I see <Kevin`> press p to confirm stuff is right <Kevin`> then w to write <turbofisk> the IM clients for linux really blow chunks :( <StevenR> turbofisk: what's wrong with kopete and gaim? <Kevin`> why is wine needed for something you compile <Kevin`> that's.. odd <sinisterbunny> hi, i am installing a netgear wg511 (lsm3890) pcmcia card into my laptop, i have the .arm file and when the card is inserted it says it uploads it without a problem but it then says that it cannot reset the card and cannot asign irq 5 to the card <sinisterbunny> the card works fine under windows <sinisterbunny> anybody have any ideas on what I am doing wrong <sinisterbunny> or even where to begin to troubleshoot this <D34FC0N> try reinstall that *.arm file <turbofisk> gaim is truly gay <Kevin`> are you sure your using the right (firmware?) for that card? <turbofisk> haven't tried kopete <pauliukas> I tried recompiling a kernel and upon boot, I get this: VFS: Cannot open root device "LABEL=/" or unknown-block(0,0)... I then changed the root path to /dev/sda7 (as grub.conf suggested) and got the same error, except it said "cannot open sda7". Is there anywhere else I can check for the boot partition? Any troubleshooting steps? <turbofisk> for starters it doesn't have enough settings and you cant *not* use groups <sinisterbunny> D34FC0N tried that <Kevin`> pauliukas do you have sata support and filesystem support? <pauliukas> Yeah. FS is ext3 <Kevin`> the former bieng more important <pauliukas> Well actually... Does SCSI has to be compiled into so that SATA works? <Kevin`> since it would tell you if fs was wrong <pauliukas> I'll recheck my .config again <Quiznos> b;l;o;o;o;o;o;0;p; <Kevin`> pauliukas dunno, try it <Kevin`> probably it does <Quiznos> ya know what happens when one doesnt mess with various distros? <Quiznos> or various man* progies? <Kevin`> you don't have to help people who come in here with distro specific questions? <Quiznos> well yea - but ``we forget how to do stuff'' <Quiznos> i used to know lilo <Quiznos> i havent done a full dist install in a few years <Kevin`> go install lfs <Quiznos> nah <ohgood> bleck <Quiznos> i'm just not interested <Gnub> i dunno <ohgood> lfs = waste of time <Quiznos> no <Gnub> im thinking of reinstalling soon <Quiznos> i wouldnt say that <Quiznos> i have to too <Gnub> gentoo <pauliukas> Alright <pauliukas> Yeah, SATA support was burried <Quiznos> actually, my sys is alittle too munged <Quiznos> stuff is failing to work <ohgood> Quiznos: fun. what'd you break ? <Gnub> im pissed sensors isnt working <pauliukas> How would I go to recompile? Should I make clean? make mrproper? <Quiznos> heh <Kevin`> Slackware 9.1.0 <Quiznos> well, fb/svga is coperatin <Kevin`> I should reinstall mine too <pauliukas> Or just make bzImage, modules and modules_install? <Quiznos> oops, is/isnt <ohgood> pauliukas: make bzImage modules modules_install <Gnub> i use slack 10.2 now but i wanna make the jump to gen2 <Kevin`> pauliukas don't make clean <Kevin`> that will just waste time <pauliukas> alrighty thanks <Kevin`> just do make <Quiznos> that's really it, but fb/sv is really imprtant <pauliukas> yeah, I'll do like ohgood said <Quiznos> oh, and cd/dvd isnt working either <Gnub> and cp the system.map and bximage to /boot <Quiznos> .oO a yellow VW on tv <Quiznos> old model <Quiznos> non-plastic <Gnub> and update ur bootloader <ohgood> Quiznos: uhm... your devises are screwed ? how'd you do _that_ ? <Quiznos> with skill <Quiznos> :) <ohgood> (: <ohgood> ( ` )( ` ) :D:D <yanger> hmmm, i'm trying to unmount a fs, but the system says it's got processes holding it..so i did a lsof | grep /mnt/ntfs to find it, and there's a few processes open? because the ntfs drive is read-only, is it safe to just kill those processes? <ohgood> are you in the directory ? <Kevin`> prolly safe if it's not read only, depending what they are <Kevin`> if you get really fed up you can do alt+printscreen+u or e <Kevin`> kinda fun to break things sometimes <FliesLikeABrick> er, but Kevin` he said it is read only <Kevin`> or e <mjbjr> what's alt+printscreen+u or e do <D34FC0N> that'll save the screenhot on the frame you're using <mjbjr> ah <Kevin`> :D <Kevin`> you might need support in the kernel for it, unfortunately <D34FC0N> 'alt + printscr' does the work <P-Luc_Auclair> building glibc seems risky <pauliukas> Alright. Exact error I'm getting is "VFS: Cannot open root device "sda7" or unknown-block(0,0)" <P-Luc_Auclair> can I break everything <pauliukas> And yes, I've compiled SATA support in <Kevin`> and scsi? <D34FC0N> mount on /dev/sda7 <D34FC0N> remount it <D34FC0N> or specific fs, vfs may not be it on those device <D34FC0N> oh ****, i have to go to work <pauliukas> lol <pauliukas> cheers <Quiznos> reality bytes <Quiznos> or intrudes <D34FC0N> bye <turbofisk> okay <turbofisk> so trying to figure out wine a bit <turbofisk> I'm supposed to: <turbofisk> # <turbofisk> # Inject these headers into the '$prefix/include/wine/windows' directory. <turbofisk> I run ubuntu and have package <turbofisk> Kevin`: well, since everything Linux has to offer in IM ****s.. I don't agree <turbofisk> It's just to compile the thing <ohgood> turbofisk: don't be stupid <Quiznos> Rabbi Daniel Lapin is on tv <ohgood> turbofisk: gnomemeeting ****s too ? <ohgood> :\ <turbofisk> havent tried it but it looks cluttered <turbofisk> have YOU tried miranda <turbofisk> you'll know what I'm talking about if you have <turbofisk> so anyway <turbofisk> I'm using wine distributed via apt <turbofisk> so how do I find out where to put a file <Kevin`> personally I just use irc, and force people to come to freenode if they want me <pauliukas> lol <ohgood> Kevin`: hear hear <pauliukas> I like GAIM <Quiznos> do they? <turbofisk> GAIM is retarded :/ <Kevin`> yes, they do <Quiznos> k <pauliukas> The Windows version is no good, but on gnome it's awesome <turbofisk> it screws up fullscreen applications <ohgood> turbofisk: i'm sorry, but isn't miranda a win32 only applicatoin ? <turbofisk> for starters <martian67> GAIM is probly the ugliest im cleint ever conceived <turbofisk> ohgood: it has been ported to linux <rjw> pfft <rjw> I love gaim
