<0> ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.1
<1> smart to give a netmask too
<2> /sbin/ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.1
<2> SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
<2> eth1: unknown interface: No such device
<3> anisX: is the device found under lspci?
<2> hatake_kakashi: no , it just detect eth0
<2> but not eth1
<1> it's not listed in lspci?
<2> no
<1> what is it
<3> anisX: and eth1 is supposed to be the extra NIC card you plugged in.. ok, either you have disabled one of the two NIC cards. Or your motherboard is configured to disable the other one if an extra NIC card is plugged in, check with the motherboard manual
<2> http://rafb.net/paste/results/hx7mP638.html
<1> so his motherboard has 2 nics builtin?
<4> or it just doesn't have driver support..
<2> Kevin`: *her

<5> anyone know how to enable outgoing mail authentication within sendmail?
<1> it would be listed in lspci without driver support
<2> Kevin`: i don't have any built in nic
<1> what is the second nic
<3> anisX: and what's the other NIC card brand? not Silicon one
<2> hatake_kakashi: before this i having a problem with secondary nic , some helper asked to disable it in fedora
<2> hatake_kakashi: same brand with eth0
<2> Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS900 PCI Fast Ethernet
<6> anyone here use gentoo and xwc?
<3> anisX: well disabling it in fedora wouldn't make it not show up on the lspci unless if maybe it was disabled at boot or something
<2> hatake_kakashi: ah yes before this i having a problem with my secondary nic at booting
<6> /cry
<3> anisX: what sort of problem?
<3> ev0: try #gentoo
<6> did
<2> hatake_kakashi: i don't know how to desribe it , but before this , they keep detecting my eth1 even i plug it off
<6> i'm trying to find out what i need to emerge to get xwc, but no useable results on google (that i could find)
<2> so after i plug it off , fedora still detect it , so some helper asked me to disable it
<3> I know there is another nick 'stylist' or something? uses gentoo but idk if that person has xwc as well
<2> hm
<3> anisX: huh.. odd, so after unplugging the second NIC card, you can still use both eth0 and eth1 or only eth1?
<6> thank you hatake_kakashi
<3> ev0: he sticks around in this chan afaik
<2> hatake_kakashi: only eth0 , after disable it , no more eth1
<1> how did you disable it
<2> Kevin`: i do not remember , the helpers at #fedora guide me to do that
<3> anisX: under root account? check .bash_history or whichever sh you used, there should be a history for each
<3> err history file I meant
<2> hatake_kakashi: nah..u expect newbies make it ?
<2> :/
<3> anisX: there should be a history file, I ***ume you used bash, so there should be a .bash_history file under ~/ and all you need to do is open that file up with your favourite text editor to read through what you have done
<7> ehlo
<2> hatake_kakashi: even it was a long time ago ?
<3> anisX: as long as the file has not been tampered in any way, including reformatting the partition that it was sitting on, etc
<2> hatake_kakashi: its hard :(
<2> hatake_kakashi: bash history only shows what i have done about a month ago
<2> hatake_kakashi: i was disable that nic about a year ago
<3> anisX: huh.. looks like you need to talk to the people in fedora then.. I presume it could be the NIC card disabled at boot, check with your boot manager or something I presume?
<4> sou da na...
<2> hatake_kakashi: #fedora sleep ;p
<3> infi: shikata nai da ne :)
<3> anisX: meh.. well I wouldn't have much of a clue then, what about their mailing-list, etc?
<8> how do I make folder writable for user "mythtv" and apply same changes to the sub files in the folder?
<2> hatake_kakashi: i will wait at #fedora then
<3> Hoxzer: chown -R mythtv:mythtv $PWD/*
<8> and "*" is the dir?
<3> Hoxzer: no, * is all files
<3> $PWD/ is the present working directory
<8> ok
<4> honto ni, nan de minna ha zenzen manpage wo yomitakunai ka na...
<9> Hi, if anyone is availiable, I am having USB troubles. 'lspci | grep -i usb' shows me nothing.
<3> infi: *sigh* sore wa wakanai, tabu sono manpejii wa totemo muzukashi ga omoshirokunai?
<3> s/wa/ha
<10> hi
<3> tabun*
<2> hatake_kakashi: hey thanks for helping appreciate it
<2> Kevin`: thanks
<3> anisX: er, ok
<1> hm I did something?
<10> I'm searching for a small linux distro (non kde or gnome based), I must install for a demo...

<1> :)
<10> what can I download and install?
<1> what wm does dsl use?
<1> dsl bieng damn small linux, cd based usually, around 50mb
<11> oOoh
<4> dakedo, linux ha yasashii dewa nai-n dakara, gambatte benkyo shinasai ne
<10> Kevin`, can I install it on HD?
<1> GDG I think so
<10> others?
<1> base debian install ended up around 300-something mb
<10> Kevin`, ok but what can I download for only 300 MB ?
<10> of debian i mean, the first cd?
<12> quick question... will "dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/dev/sda1" work for a hdd swap?
<4> sou da na
<1> GDG probably.. I used the net install cd
<3> ;)
<12> or what else should i do?
<1> ki6amd it will work best if the partitions are the same size
<12> and swap?
<1> if it's a unix filesystem, you could just cp -a
<12> ext2
<1> if the hard drives are exactly the same size, i'd do dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/sda
<13> Hi, Im wanting to make a mp3 player out of a computer, what distro would be best?
<14> hello, anybody know where keep psybnc privatelogs ?
<13> no gui of course and has to be really small
<12> no, there 12gb(hda) 40gb (sda)
<4> ki6amd: do you use a TNC?
<4> (regarding HAM stuff)
<1> if you want to use all the space i'd format the second disk and copy the files
<15> .........
<12> 1.2Ghz up only...... they call me hamopmw
<1> you should install the bootloader on the second hd
<12> welll....900Mhz once in a while
<4> have you gotten it working w/ Linux?
<4> s/it/one/
<12> Kevin... I knew there was a reason I shouldn't have done it at 2am
<12> Thank you for pointing out my stupidity
<12> lol
<2> ki6amd: keep learning!
<12> infi got what?
<2> ;p
<4> a TNC
<4> (I'm not a ham, just a groupie ;)
<12> A tnc?
<4> terminal node controller
<4> as in, packet radio
<12> I'm a voice only (experiment....) laser, radar, etc
<4> ah, I see.
<2> don't laser my pc ki6amd :)
<4> just wondering, carry on :)
<12> I MIGHT one day begin the.... uhf/vhf stuff
<2> "I don't know... Fedora is a mystery to me"
<2> :D
<12> why you can't get your tnc working on *nix?
<12> anisX as far as lasers go, we're talking the pointer veriety
<2> ok i don't know then what is pointer veriety
<12> laser pointer
<2> laser as in real or laser in computer thingy ?
<12> cheap little lasers that sell for $5us
<4> nah, like I said, I'm not a ham, just a groupie ;) one of these days, I'll start down the road and play with the stuff firsthand, but I haven't had the need yet.
<2> ki6amd: that tiny laser that we use in presentation ?
<12> infi- checkout a linux distro hamshack-hack
<12> anisX: Yes
<2> ki6amd: oh i have it on my desk now
<4> I'm wearing laser-proof underwear.
<12> infi - I BARELY got my licence a year ago
<2> underwear ? nah naugthy infi!
<16> infi, you're wearing tinfoil underwear?
<12> It was EASY... I had been putting it off for years, you outta give it a shot
<4> ki6amd: aha, heh. it's been on the outskirts of my radar for years, but I've always been doing other stuff.
<4> yep, I shall at some point.
