<2> is ubuntu really that good? there's alot of people in that channel (I've never tried it)
<3> If I have a oldstyle p***wd file with p***word hashes in it, is there any smooth way to create a separate p***wd and shadow file?
<1> it's pretty good in meeting the expectations former windows users have
<2> ah ok, i think i'll continue to not try it :)
<4> printk: out of curiosity, does your nick have anything to do with /proc/sys/kernel/printk
<2> yah :)
<4> geek!

<1> oh well, I'm outta here... catch you all tomorrow
<5> d_l0rd, pwconv note that it won't create a seperate though
<5> redduck666, you want to print 64000th line ?

<4> fm: nope, i want to print lines longer than 64000 characters.
<4> 11:17:03 /bs/666fs/test $ sed -n '/.\{64000\}/p' db.sql
<4> sed: -e expression #1, char 12: Invalid content of \{\}
<4> 11:19:11 /bs/666fs/test $ grep '.\{64000\}' db.sql
<4> grep: Invalid content of \{\}
<4> :(
<5> eh
<5> works here
<4> hmmm, what gep or sed?
<4> *grep
<4> if so which grep/sed you use?
<5> sed -V
<5> GNU sed version 4.0.8
<5> Copyright (C) 2003 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
<4> btw thanks :)
<3> fm: what do you mean by doesn't create a seperate? it doesnt split it into two files?
<5> it overwrites shadow file
<5> man pwconv
<5> I mean you can't p*** an input file of old p***wd file and tell it to redirect output to a given file
<5> it operates on /etc/p***wd and /etc/shadow
<6> is anyone using GPRSEC from a bluetooth device on linux
<7> Hi
<7> Anyone here know anything about getting Nvidia TV outs to work in X?
<7> my card seems to work automatically at the commandline
<7> but not in x
<8> It looks like an application on one of our customers servers is deleting it's temporary files before releasing the file handle.
<8> Now, I have a hunch of where it can come from, but I would like to *know* before I start promising to fix it. :)
<8> So, Q1: Is there a way to found out what process holds these files open?
<9> regebro: lsof might or might not be useful
<8> hyphenated: OK. :) I'll try that then.
<8> Pfft. Works fine, very helpful, on my machine. But not on the bloody server. :( Oh well, I'll twiddle some more. :)
<8> Well, that was helpful. I think the customer simply is wrong. There is no mysterious eating up of diskspace. :)
<8> Thanks alot hyphenated! Ciao!
<10> join #gentoo
<11> Can someone tell me the basic difference between GPL(version x), L-GPL.... and the gpl compactible licenses?
<10> i'm a chef, not a lawyer!
<10> :-)
<12> Afief: LGPL is like GPL, but with the constraints about including the covered code in a 3rd party application, requiring that that application be covered by the same license, removed.
<12> So you can have an LGPL library, and non-GPL/LGPL software can be linked, statically or otherwise, to that code.
<13> morning all
<13> anyone seen the da vinci code ?
<10> is that C or Perl code penguin****ers :-)

<12> Heaven has only one feature of which I am certain, and that feature is a custard river.
<14> the River is Life
<14> inexhaustible water
<12> inexhaustible custard (:
<14> heh
<12> I'd be there on the bank with a thick straw

<12> It would be wood
<14> acacia wood is best
<12> but designed to float on and move through custard
<14> heh
<12> so that the custard river can be navigated
<14> you should capitalise that
<14> Custard R.
<14> in heaven
<14> Heaven
<12> You'd probably need to punt with a pole. Oars would just get everybody in other boats (or on th ebank) covered in custard.
<14> heh
<12> Not *everybody* likes custard that much.
<14> they will

<18> ban
<18> not able to join channels

<19> hello i want to play "http://www.1.fm/player/energybbfm32k.asx"; , its live audio streaming , so which player i need to use ? I am using debian 3.1r1 sarge
<20> bk_ankur: there are several choices. The stream is in WMA8, which can be handled by a recent ffmpeg, thus mplayer, libxine players, gstreamer-ffmpeg and videolan will be able to decode the stream. If you are using Totem-Gstreamer or Rhythmbox with gstreamer0.10 and all its plugins or Amarok with the libxine backend you should be able to listen to the station.
