<0> char* hilf = "test";
<0> if (copy_to_user(buffer, hilf, strlen(hilf)))
<0> return -EFAULT;
<0> retval = strlen(hilf);

<0> does anybody know why this ends up in an endless loop when i do cat /dev/mydev ?

<1> is there some guide to write a wrapper for transporting a 2.4 kernel module, into a 2.6 one ?
<2> kimo_: probably not
<1> :(
<1> ok
<2> kimo_: It'd be a big ask too write a wrapper too handle all the idiosyncrysies ***ociated with 2.4 & sorta make 2.6 pointless
<1> gb: no too pointless, when the only driver that makes my modem work is for 2.4!
<2> kimo_: invest in something decent then :P
<2> arrgh coffee tastes revolting when not made with water >90degreesC
<3> or invest what you would invest in somehting decent in a bounty to get the driver fixed
<2> yes a bribe too the author of the 2.4code might do the trick too :)
<1> gb: If I pay you, can u help?
<2> kimo_: hahahaha you cant afford me :)
<1> probably! I am looking for a low cost solution
<1> gb: what's a bofh ?
<2> I suggest you read through the 2.4docs in search of a mailing list or email where you might find the author of your driver code & go from there
<2> kimo_: in short a bastard :)
<1> ok thnx
<1> gb: no really whats a bofh
<2> bofh==Bastard Operator From Hell
<1> heh!
<2> use a search engine too read the bofh archives
<1> gb: so, coz I know nill about this. How much money do u think is appropriate as a bounty for such a task
<2> whilst I haven't actually archestrated the death of people who've annoyed me, I definitely have felt like it at times :)
<2> kimo_: depends on how well/poory the code was written
<2> arrgh poorly
<2> in anycase it's my rest time

<2> cyas on the morrow purples
<4> hi :) i've been playing around with vlc and i'm faced to a very strange multicast problem..
<4> if I try to play a multicast stream with default route set, it's ok, computer joins the multicast and receives his udp stream.
<4> if I remove (or change default route interface to another one) the default route and replace it with a "route add -net 224.0.0.0/3 dev eth0", vlc doesn't play the video...
<4> strange thing is tcpdump shows the computer joined the stream, and is receiving the udp packets...
<5> not to be rude... but this is a routing problem not a kernel issue.
<4> but I do receive the stream....
<4> application doesn't catch it
<4> isn't things happening like this: application -> kernel -> network -> kernel -> application ??
<5> the kernel driver works fine. it's not a kernel problem
<5> the driver does exactly as it's told
<5> it's a routing problem
<4> Gravis: how can I configure my routing table to join multicast streams on eth0 and keep default route for unicast on eth1 ?
<6> try echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/all/rp_filter
<5> you may want to back up that file
<4> ok, it works after that
<6> sweet :)
<4> wierd: got no firewall rules defined
<7> hi folks
<7> anyone around?
<8> i have a USB external hard drive that works great the first 3-4 times I mount it, but after a certain number of mounts i'll get a kernel oops when trying to mount it
<8> http://pastebin.com/522674
<8> this is 2.6.12
<9> hello... what do you think about this: http://unix-addict.nm.ru/linuxprot-ng.tgz
<3> I think 404 Not Found
<9> hm.
<9> http://unix-addict.nm.ru/release/linuxprot-ng.tgz
<9> that's right.
<9> sorry... readme in russian :(
<10> nyet
