<2> can somebody confirm that if you run a kernel that does not allow to load modules, hotplug is not usefull, and you can use udevsend (/proc/sys/kernel/hotplug) instead of letting /sbin/hotplug call udevsend? ***uming udevsend walks trough sys to find the matching device and then send his crap to the udevd binary that lets the udev binary create a device node in /dev (optionally with symlinks etc.)
