<0> Good firewall for KDE = ? <0> Will firestarter be sufficient <0> ? <1> built in usually but firestarter will allow fine tune or guarddog <0> Thx JackieBrown <2> iptables, man... iptables <2> built into the kernel <1> Renze is right - I don't run one but if you feel the need ... <3> JackieBrown: you've removed iptables from your kernel? <0> Yes Renze but I am not adept enough to configure IPtables myself <4> RENZE IS JUST JEALOUS HE CAN'T HAX0R MY ZONEALARM! <1> :D <5> heh <0> Rezne, so I use a GUI to help me out <0> Renze*
<2> CHodapp: I'm not 1337 enough to care about that :P <6> ewww <6> what's with the caps? <4> my zonealarm is teh l33t <2> zonealarm is teh l4m3 <4> sigh... I'm such a loser... I haven't run Windows in like 5 years <2> 7 years for me <0> 3 months for me. <0> =( <3> qupada: I've installed gtk-qt - but don't see any documentation. do I need to run GNOME to set it up? <7> dooglus: 'kcmshell kcmgtk' <2> dooglus: no, control-centre -> appearance & themes -> gtk style and fonts <7> set both to 'use my kde (style|fonts) in gtk applications', then restart any gtk apps you're using <3> qupada: and kill gnome-settings-daemon? <7> dooglus: probably be wise. you might actually want to log out to dispose of all that <3> qupada: killing it makes all the GTK apps revert back to using big fonts immediately <3> qupada: I'll try restarting them now <3> nothing changed - the fonts are still too big. I'll try rebooting. <2> rebooting? how... Redmond <3> got a better suggestion? <2> try using the control centre page again <6> dooglus: just make sure the gtk apps use your kde fonts, and apply it <2> the gnome thing probably overwrote it <6> or you can just relogin to kde after killing gnome-* <2> a reboot is unnecessary, unless you're starting a new kernel <3> once it's working, should changing my KDE font affect GDK apps which are already running? <2> no <6> nope, you gotta restart the app <2> gtk apps need restarts to see changes <3> it looks like logging out and in again wasn't enough - I had to go back to the config window and 'apply' again <2> like I said <3> after changing fonts in KDE, I have to go back to the GTK config window, change the setting to-and-fro and 'apply' again <3> ok, thanks for your help. that's looking good now. <8> hi folks - i have a real gripe about kontact. it has a nifty feature where you can export your Calendar to an ics file. Good, fantastic. ICS publication is a great way to share your calendar. But it -requires- you to export it to a local file. You can't save to a fish:// hosted url. "Filename must be local." - that's -absurd-. If i want to export my calendar somewhere, 9 times out of ten, it'll be to a server where folks can see i <8> t! <9> eidolon: http://bugs.kde.org/ the program to blame is korganizer. <8> i was wondering if i was doing something wrong :-/ <8> hmm. *explores kcalendar remote resources* <3> Renze, kucrut: even after stopping the gnome thing and logging out and in again, changing my Qt font doesn't affect the GTK apps, even if I restart the GTK apps <2> dooglus: do you use the gtk styles and fonts page each time you change your Qt font? <6> dooglus: i used to delete my ~/.gtkrc-* when i have problems w/ gtk themes/fonts <9> eidolon: the ics save as section is found in calendarview.cpp line 1522 .. however it uses a 'FileStorage' cl*** <8> i wonder why? <10> gnome-settings-daemon handles font configuration <10> and theme, and so on <10> you don't need to handle with gtkrc if you start that daemon up <9> eidolon: FileStorage however uses the ICalFormat cl*** 'save' method. <9> seems to all use kde stuff. <9> eidolon: so you know what we do in this situation? :) <8> open a bug? :) <9> eidolon: yep. <8> tnx :) <3> Renze: I don't. Should I? <3> Renze: it seems I have to. <2> yes, because that page is the only one that updates your .gtkrc-2.0 file <9> eidolon: if you give me the bug # I might have a patch here pretty quick <8> i'm actually almost ready for bed... i was going to open it in the am :) <3> is there a keyboard shortcut to switch desktops? <8> control-functionkey to go right to it. <8> control-tab to rotate through them. <3> thanks
<11> hi <3> is that configurable? <2> yes <8> probably :) <11> I need a channel for blogging <2> all things in KDE are configurable <9> Renze: how do I set the highlight color to 1 color and the text highlight color to another? <2> smileaf: selected background and selected text in colours :D <2> smileaf: but if you want two separate colours based on what you're selecting... change the code :D <3> Renze: how can I configure the keyboard sequence for jumping between desktops? <9> nah.. I mean that color that highlights the lineedits vs the color that highlights the text. <9> so yah I'd have to change the code ;) <2> dooglus: control centre -> regional & accessibility -> keyboard shortcuts, Shortcut schemes tab, Shortcut sequences tab <2> look under Desktop Switching <3> heh, ok. well hidden :) <9> Renze: Ok I got a serious question now ;) <2> uh oh <3> control-f1 isn't listed in there :( <9> how do I set the default encoding for katepart <9> I see the option 'kde default' but I can't find where to change that. <2> I think that depends on your locale <9> us english.. but I want utf8 encoding :( <2> dooglus: what does it say next to "Switch to Desktop 1" ? <3> ok - it's in the 'shortcut sequences' tab, not 'global shortcuts'. it's not clear what the differenceis between those two <2> I did say that :) <3> what's the difference between a shortcut sequence and a global shortcut? <2> some global shortcuts can be set in particular apps as well as there... shortcut sequences can only be set there <12> someone sent me a file in kopete <12> where would it get stored <2> home directory, I think <12> it didn't ask me to accept or deny it just said incoming file transfer <12> its not there <13> Hey Renze <2> 'lo AegeanLinux <13> hey, we got mirrored by Belnet <13> http://ftp.belnet.be/pub/mirror/aegeanlinux/aegean/ <13> The first mirror to do our ISO. <2> gosh :) <13> Renze: Do you know how exciting that is ? <2> nope <13> Renze: We got on Slashdot ! <13> (then again, everyone does these days ;) ) <2> um... okay :) <2> is a dead tree hugger a necrophiliac with splinters? <14> how do i change the font on the titles bar ron the task bar? <13> lol @ redsteakraw <13> * I mean Renze <14> mainly color <13> Dang Freenode Java IRC client . <15> renze: nah...just a pervert with a, "woody". <15> Get it? "Woody" ?? ok bad joke. <14> how do i change the minimized bars? <14> the font <2> the font you change in control centre -> appearance & themes -> fonts... the colour is button text colour <14> ty <13> And you get in there via kcontrol <13> sorry rr73 :P <14> about what? <13> kk, nevery mind rr73 <13> Renze, you still wont give AegeanLinux a go then ? <2> AegeanLinux: nope <13> (Thats the last time I will ask) <14> whats the think at the bottom called when i minimize it? <13> Shoots the bloody thing (I do that is ;) ) <2> taskbar <13> Why thank you rr73 <13> Renze, please explain the use of Gentoo <2> huh? <14> why is only one of my minimized things the color i selcted? <13> never mind.
