<0> triablo: looks like a tkGUI problem...do you have tk isntalled? <1> antarus: "the dict" in this case is globals()... <0> marienz: which is? <0> marienz: modules yes? <0> marienz: they could be stupid and override it with something :) <1> antarus: no, modules is sys.modules :P <0> triablo: try merging tk with USE=python ya? <1> antarus: globals() is, well, globals() <0> thats my guess ;0 <2> good idea <1> antarus: so I guess it's trying to access something that should've been imported earlier or a cl*** that should've been defined earlier <2> there is no python use flag on tk tho <1> antarus: you have that backwards <1> antarus: tk has no python USE flag
<0> tcl perhaps.. <1> you probably meant USE=tk on python <0> or that :P <1> err, USE=tcltk even <3> Diavolo: Gnome has a tool to modify them, xterm has a setting too, dunno with xorg,,, <4> Oh no! When I try to emerge nvidia-glx, it wants to emerge xorg-x11 first, which will fail because of GLX!!! <5> is it normal than when i make a USE="-X" nothing change between before and after an emerge --info ??? <6> nyk, no <0> nones: is X still listed in USE? <5> antarus> yes <1> triablo: version of adesklets? <4> t35t0r: no? <7> nones, you mean you do: 'USE="-X" emerge info' ? <7> er <7> nones, you mean you do: 'USE="-X" emerge --info' ? <5> no i do USE="-X" <8> antarus: oh i got it working now :) how can i unmount when i dont wanna play red alert anymore ? ;) <5> emerge --info <1> yay no-ops <0> nones: uhhh yeah that doesn'ty work ;P <5> and nothing change before than after <0> nones: USE="-X" is not permentant <9> umount /device (or directory) <0> er permenant <5> roger> yes it's the same thing i think sorry <7> permanent (sp) <0> nones: you need to do it in make.conf or package.use <10> 'permanent' seems to be the correct spelling. <5> but what about USE="-X" only ? <0> seemant(sp?) <10> Suggestions for 'seemant': cement, seamount, Samnite, seamen, semens, seaman, Zeeman... <11> when I logout of X my computer freezes, using ati-drivers, and have not the radeonfb driver built-in, I know this is a common issue, is there a fix ? <0> nones: USE="-X" does nothing unless you run a command right afterward <4> I am getting error while compiling modular xorg-x11, it's a problem with GLX. what can I do? re-emerge nvidia-glx (I use nvidia)? But doesn't it use it's own xorg GLX? <0> nones: USE is just a shell variable ya <3> Sector: you always umount mount points, not devices, fstab does its work when you try to umount a device though, but it sounds ridiculous <5> antaru> right afterward is the same thing than just after ? <1> antarus: or you export it :) <9> Usually I unmount the mountpont but I have done it with the device as well <0> marienz: yeah i doubt that is what his intent is :P <1> antarus: *shrug* it works but it is rather confusing <12> is there any fix for webmin module regarding shorewall ...problem applying zones through webmin-not the same format (webmin 1.250 VS shorewall 3.0.4) <4> I am getting error while compiling modular xorg-x11-server, it's a problem with GLX. what can I do? <1> nyk: don't expect us to be psychic :P <13> can someone propose a substitude for the pacakge "pam-login" ? <13> I wanna remove PAM <5> antarus> if i want to export i will export, i just don't understand why USE="-X" provide if it doesn't change de compilation flags...? <14> Radtoo - you still here ? <0> nones: ... <15> marienz: I knew you were going to say that. <16> nones: this for a server install that you don't want any X on? <0> nones: do you know what a shell variable is? <5> lol <1> DrChandra: you know me too well then <5> no no explain me <5> yes i know <0> nones: ok.. <5> antarus> thank u <0> nones: so when you set USE="-X" it's just a normal shell variable ya? <5> ok no problem
<0> nones: if I do something like BLAT="foo" ls <0> after ls runs, BLAT is not set ya? <15> nyk: YOu have to ask a more specific question. One which will cause the channel to give you the information you need. <0> thats how shell variables work <0> if you don't want X on your system at all, you can modify USE in your /etc/make.conf <5> ok <14> Question guys ::: do i add any "other" cpu flags than mmx to make? -> my cpu flags fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr <5> antarus> sorry but you say that if i do USE="-X" after an ls USE is unset ? (Sorry but i don't understand very well the main problem is here ;)) <5> antarus> i would say i don't understand english very well the main prob ... <15> nones: Putting a setting on the same command line only has the setting in effect for that one command. <4> Dr.Chandra: It's hard to find out, because I can't scrollback to the error after some time. The problem seems to be that certain C functions concerning GLX are not found when compiling xorg-x11-server in the process of updating to modular X11 from the monolithic one. <5> ok dr <4> Now I unmerged nvidia-glx and tried again to emerge xorg-x11-server <5> i know understand (tuin tuin tuin tttuuuuiiiiiiiinnn) <15> Folks: There's nyk's question. Looks like an opengl-update problem. Don't wait for me to answer. <4> yeah.. :) <5> somebody know a nice LISSED (???) font for console ?? <17> lissed? <5> lol <9> Ok computer wont even start to boot with the LInksys, dug out an ALN-315 that doens't work either. Guess it's time to steal a NIC from another computer for now then order another... <4> I think opengl-update now switched back to xorg's glx, after I unmerged nvidia-glx. Maybe it works now, but I have to wait some time for the error to occur (5min?)... ah, it's on a stable amd64 system! <5> how can i say <18> is there a way to rebuild the world file <5> a slice font ? <19> nones > smoothed ? <18> it shows program are blocking others but I have emerge -C them <5> with no dramatic pixel ? <15> nyk: Maybe run opengl-update again, and make it select xorg? <5> with no dramatic pixel seeing ? <5> you know what i mean ? <17> what's your first language? <5> lol <5> frefch <17> :) <5> french <17> me oui <4> DrChandra: can I switch back to nvidia-glx later? (I mean after compiling the xorg-x11-server?) or is there no more need for it anyway? <5> bonjour <17> unfortunately, i can't speak french :) <5> lol <20> nones: there is no antialiasing in console <20> nones: if you want help in french, try #gentoofr <5> ok grimm ;) <5> ah coool black thanks a lot man ;) <21> hmm <22> is there an easy way to transfer data from one server to another <21> i cant emerge sdk java ebuild pls help :E <17> should have guessed french since your nick is nones <21> lc32 ftp? <23> my1st-stage1: kind of here... <20> lc23: scp <21> scp = big cpu usagE? <20> exo|irc: can you be more specific? <20> exo|irc: scp == secure, ftp == get rooted <21> i know <21> but <22> well i am talking like all the conf files for like postfix and stuff <20> there are no buts :) <24> evening ppl can anyone point me in the right direction to get the VIVO of my Nvidia Screencard working under gentoo? <21> dude <23> my1st-stage1: Still the question about the CPU flags? No, you don't add most of these... <21> ftp can be made very secure <1> scp/sftp can push several MBs per second on a slow (via c3) cpu. They could probably push more if I disabled encryption (afaik you can do that, but I haven't bothered) <23> my1st-stage1: Almost all optimizations will be done either way if the CFLAGS are set up for the correct cpu type <20> exo|irc: yes, but he asked for easy...setting up an ftp server with openssl support is not as easy as scp which uses ssh which is already installed on all gentoo systems. <21> true <21> but if he wants like less cpu usage or what ever <21> :E <21> blackace you know why java sdk isnt in difstfiles portage? <25> hello, i'd like to buy a pc... it should be as silent as possible, as small as possible, as powerfull as possible... and the must difficult criterium: it has to support linux as good as possible! ... does anybody know where i can find help in my search? <16> google <26> guys, how do I get VLC to play a movie in FULLSCREEN? <20> exo|irc: I'll ask you one more time, can you be more specific? there are many different implementations of java in portage. <4> Ok, some more info: The error still happens after unmerging nvidia-glx. The errors are from the file glxcmds.c while emerging xorg-x11-server. It gives errors like this: xGLXQueryHyperpipeNetworkSGIXReq undeclared. And many other things undeclared in that file. Then it stops, and that's the problem!
