<0> charlls: ah, sorry.. i see i was actually too late =)
<1> Okay. I'm gonna have to log. Will try again tomorrow.
<2> how long does it take to complie X11?
<3> anyone got xcompmgr to work? for transparent windows?
<4> tragicher0: depends on your hardware, usually not long
<1> Thanks for trying guys. I'll see if it dose it a second time and be back if it dose.
<5> Gamma-X, E17 comes in CVS ebuilds, so I reemerge then from time to time, last time was probably this morning
<1> Night.
<6> cOff3eBuZz, void^, broken2, would you like to join in my crusade of finding the responsible of writing the argument description for mount (or at least the one that didnt follow the standard set by the oldest between fstab mounting and commandline mount) and once we find it, physically rip his scrotus and make him eat it?
<4> charlls: seems a little extreme :P
<7> er
<8> How would i load gentoo from the livecd with madwifi drivers?
<6> broken2, i would consider myself satisfied with giving him a good kick in the knockers :D
<9> ni1s what are cvs builds, and for some reason i cant get my x workin
<10> charlls, why do you want to eat his scrotum?
<5> Gamma-X, then you should focus on getting X working before trying anything else

<2> anyone know how long it take to build X?
<6> rommel, erhm. i said "make him eat it"
<9> is there an easier way to fix x like maby emerge x? lol
<11> pll i've a weird situation here ... my usb mouse with kernel 2.6.15-r5 have power and apears in "lsusb" but do not work .. but if i use the older kernel tree ( 2.6.14 ) it works ..
<4> tragicher0: i already said, it depends on your hardware, i.e processor, memory, disk drives
<2> o sorry
<2> i missed it
<4> usually not long though
<2> really thats good
<2> Gamma-X: emerge xorg-x11
<9> lol thanks
<2> is that what u wanted?
<11> weird i want my usb mouse in 2.6.15 kernel :'(
<5> he. rommel, was that Freudian interpretation charlls rant ? ;)
<9> tragicher0 i think.
<2> k
<6> lol
<2> that the one im using
<9> tragicher0 im gunna try that, what file is that?
<2> ?
<2> just goto console
<2> and type emerget xorg-x11
<12> Help! I'm trying to get xorg7 running, but when I startx I the error "API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module is version 7.1.0, but this X module is version 1.0.8178..." I've re-emerged nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel and I still get the same error. Please help!
<2> *emerge xorg-x11
<9> I did! lol
<2> and?
<10> ni1s, i just thought it odd that he wanted to eat his own scrotum
<2> monkeyBox: have u tried build from the nvidia.com drivers?
<2> they ahve an easy to use install script
<10> make himself eat it even.... very strange
<12> tragicher0, Is that not the nvidia-kernel ebuild?
<2> ummm i honestly dont kno
<2> its not an ebuild
<2> its an install package from nvidia
<2> its not distro based
<2> u could try it
<4> monkeybox: nvidia-glx depends on nvidia-kernel, you shouldn't have to install it manually
<7> there's no reason to use that. use the ebuilds. else we can't support you here on oit
<13> Back with my sound issue. Sound in some aps but not others. For example Gaim has sounds but the Gnome system sounds do not work. Any ideas?
<2> did u build ur sound stuff with -Gnome?
<13> no gnome is on in my use flags
<14> can somebody help me figure out what's wrong with my video card? I can't get direct rendering working
<12> broken2, either way, I've re-installed nvidia-glx and it didn't seem to fix the problem
<4> monkeyBox: close source binary compatibility problems are nothing new :/
<4> closed*
<15> ok so im trying to emerge xgl, but its saying that there are no ebuilds for it. i'm sure im doing something really stupid and simple to fix but i **** at gentoo
<15> (im following the HOWTO XGL wiki page)
<5> leterip, got hanno's ebuild in overlay?
<4> monkeyBox: you might want to try syncing and unmasking nvidia-glx to get the latest version, that might fix it
<15> you know i dont think i do because i changed things
<15> lemme fix that
<9> how do i find out what binary or file is supposed to be in usr/bin/
<16> anyone know how to remove crossdev (beyond emerge unmerge crossdev). I have all the extra garbage in "gcc-config -l" still.
<4> Gamma-X: ls /usr/bin/ | grep <file you are looking for>
<13> Hrm I don't understand why it works in the media selection tool as well
<17> is there a nice little program i can get from portage that will make some clickable thumbnails? like for a post on my worklog (forum). I dont feel like doing the html and resizing for each one ya know?
<9> broken2 thanks
<4> Gamma-X: np
<18> hey guys i dont wtf ive done but when i try to boot gentoo now i get a grub error that says error 20 to many symbolic links
<5> What the hell is wrong with(am I doing wrong with) subversion! "svn: error: please check that your locale name is correct", what?!
<6> ok bye. cOff3eBuZz , void^ and broken2 thanks again. and if anyone of you find the responsible of this atrocity, we'll meet again and at least throw a bucket full of dog pile in his car

<12> broken2, unfortunately, that's exactly what I did.
<6> bye
<19> cheers
<5> "svn: error: environment variable LC_ALL is sv
<5> ", no its not, Oh what's this now....
<20> I am unable to start networking on my gentoo box. When I start /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start, I get this message....
<14> where do I start looking to find out why direct rendering isn't working?
<20> gentoo-dell gpierce # /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
<20> * Starting eth0
<20> * Bringing up eth0
<20> * Configuration not set for eth0 - ***uming dhcp
<20> * dhcp
<13> Should I remerge streamer or is there commands to fix gstreamer
<9> broken2 when i do that nutin happens
<21> hi all- have an installation question
<22> anyone knows how FEATURES="keepwork" is functioning? will it keep all sources?
<20> i=3 len=4 option = 192.168.9.1
<20> i=6 len=4 option = 192.168.9.1
<20> i=12 len=11 option = "gentoo-dell"
<20> i=15 len=2 option = "gp"
<20> i=28 len=4 option = 192.168.9.255
<23> ...
<20> i=51 len=4 option = 43200
<20> i=53 len=1 option = 5
<4> Gamma-X: that means the file you are looking for isn't in there. You could try /usr/sbin as well
<10> lol
<9> mbishop u use enlightenment?
<23> Gamma-X: no
<21> have gotten as far as "configuring the modules" and am not sure what i should put in
<18> hey guys i dont wtf ive done but when i try to boot gentoo now i get a grub error that says error 20 to many symbolic links
<21> can i just leave it blank?
<9> broken2 well then what do i do to fix it? lol its supposed to be there.
<2> how do i completly remove a package
<4> Gamma-X: what file are you looking for?
<14> does anybody know if ati radeon 8500 ( VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R200 QL [Radeon 8500 LE]) has native linux support?
<24> tragicher0: emerge -C package
<13> suntzO, whats your grub.conf say? or did you somehow link /boot to /boot?
<25> http://www.hm2k.org/news/1137968795.html so:
<25> startkeylogger
<9> broken2 enlightenment inside /usr/bin/
<26> xprment626: there is drivers for it
<18> ***imilate i think i removed the boot symlink
<26> xprment626: open and closed source i'm sure
<18> that sets in /boot
<4> Gamma-X: if you want to see what files a package installs, it would be better to use equery f <package>
<2> TheRat: see what happend was my pc reset half way through x11 install
<2> and now it keeps breaking when i try to install it
<24> tragicher0: when you say breaking, what exactly do you mean ??
<2> now when i goto clean it it says its not installed, but it detects a previous install when i goto install
<27> Hey what ethernet driver should I use for nvidia gigabit ethernet on nforce4?
<2> it errors
<2> on the build
<4> Gamma-X: you could then filter that using 'equery f <package> | grep bin' to find binaries
<28> caze_donfusio1: i think its labelled nforce2 ethernet, but works for the nforce4 one too.. press ? in menuconfig, it should tell you what it supports
<24> tragicher0: ok.. you could delete the temp space it is using for the build... /var/tmp/portage/*
<27> Triffid_Hunter: Thanks!
<2> i think that would fix it
<2> or do u think x just wont compile
<24> tragicher0: leave the portage directory.. just delete the contents...
<9> broken2 equery is invalid comand
<24> tragicher0: i have never had a problem sompiling X...
<2> rm /var/tmp/portage/* ?
<24> tragicher0: even when i break a build part way through.
<4> Gamma-X: emerge gentoolkit
<18> ***imilate
<2> or rm -r /var/tmp/portage/*
<18> can you help me
<24> tragicher0: cd /var/tmp/portage;rm -rf *
<2> ok
<2> u think if i do that and rebuild it will work?
<2> should i -depclean too?
<21> will my sys not work if i don't add modules to autostart?
<24> tragicher0: worth a shot.. i do not think it will make a difference.. but maybe...
<13> sorry suntzO had to take a support call....
