<0> I'm running two big progs, emerge -u portage and eix-sync :P
<0> then, emerge kde, hehe
<1> GUIPEnguin-> ..or if you emerge python?
<2> can some one help me with setting up my mx1000. ive tried everything for 2 days. does anyone wanna ssh who wont ruin my box? :]
<1> eix-sync ?
<0> _AxS_: whatever that command is
<0> _AxS_: yes it's eix-sync
<1> Sakkath-> what is it? never heard of it
<3> _AxS_: lol NO emerge will work unless I get the file inplace... not even revdep-rebuild will fix it
<0> _AxS_: it updates the eix portage cache, as well as doing like emerge --sync, so eix-sync covers both, so I was told
<4> Sakkath: gentoo.org > doc listing on the left menu > scroll down to gentoo desktop > ke
<4> *kde
<1> wlel all revdep-rebuild does is find packages that should be rebuilt, and then says 'emerge [pkgs]'..
<0> tomm1: as soon as links emerges
<4> Sakkath: mine did that

<4> ctrl c it
<1> Sakkath-> ahh.. hm, i dunno if that's safe to do while you're emerging something else (updating the portage tree that is)
<4> no
<0> _AxS_: oopsie ill update the portage later then
<4> u need to flush out portage
<0> tomm1: flush out?
<0> tomm1: what should i do? USE -X?
<4> Sakkath: yes
<4> but clean portage first
<5> I'm trying to get apache-2.0.55-r1 with SSL working and it starts up fine with the "-D SSL -D SSL_DEFAULT_VHOST". But then when I try to connect, my browser says "... has sent an incorrect or unexpected message. Error Code: -12281" and I get this in my error_log, "ls: 200*: No such file or directory". This seemed like a package specific thing, and I can't find anything similar in the searching I've done. Please help. =(
<4> then do the remove unneeded dependencies thingy
<0> tomm1: how, it has like 32 deps lol
<4> ive ran out of ttys so i cant tell you any more :)
<1> GUIPEnguin-> when you installed the new gcc did it build you a new python too? there might be some sort of update-python script you gotta run
<6> anyone knows how to solve : this error modprobing nvidia, dmesg gives me "nvidia: version magic '2.6.15-nitro3 SMP gcc-4.1' should be '2.6.15-nitro3x86_64 SMP gcc-4.1'" i had this error once, but i forgot how to solve it :(
<4> Sakkath: its because its trying to install a pretty version
<0> tomm1: how can i stop it hehe
<4> Sakkath: in the end i just did emerge kde from chroot in the setup cd
<4> Sakkath: ctrl-c
<1> Treborius-> this the in-kernel nvidia or the nvidia-kernel package?
<0> tomm1: what about links? lol
<7> does anyone know is there a e17 irq chat?
<4> Sakkath: im running it on the cd
<7> irc
<6> _AxS_: nvidia-kernel package, but i just saw, that he tries to load the 32bit modules ...
<2> can some one help me via ssh
<0> tomm1: I can do lynx I guess because it has no deps :-p
<4> Sakkath: yes
<7> thisbullet whats wrong
<4> Sakkath: the only diffrence is lynx dosent support frames
<1> Treborius-> did you try emerging nvidia-kernel again?
<4> Sakkath: well there might be a few moe
<4> *more
<0> tomm1: as long as i can read the kde guide :-p
<8> richiefrich: Why don't you go look?
<6> _AxS_: yes, the module should be in 2.6.15-nitro3x86_64 not in the 32bit kernel module tree
<9> avenj, are you around ?
<0> Does anyone want to do some research for me? :-p
<2> richiefrich: i cant get my mx1000 to work no matter what. and its so hard being in console to be pastebinning and looking at resources :/
<4> Sakkath: i just did emerge kde, then in nano /etc/rc.conf unedit the display manager bit and change it to kdm
<10> i'm having a problem with dhcpcd - when i do /etc/init.d/net.eth0 start it tells me dhcpcd is missing a required function ... it's like dhcp_is_something() i forgot to write it down
<4> hmm dhcp
<10> in addition i don't have /bin/dnsdomainname for some reason
<1> Treborius-> are you using genkernel for your kernel or doing ot by hand? it could be the 'x86_64' label isn't in /usr/src/linux/.config
<4> i have to dhcpcd every boot now for some reason
<6> _AxS_: per hand, make, make modules_install, cp kernel
<4> automagical network config stopped workin
<4> Sakkath: hows it goin?
<0> Does anyone want to find out what driver I need for my wireless card? :-p
<1> tomm1-> you set up /etc/conf.d/net and rc-update added net.eth0 to start?
<10> i believe that my /etc/conf.d/domainname is correct but for some reason there's no /bin/dnsdomainname
<0> tomm1: lynx is downloading
<4> _AxS_: huh?
<9> avenj, I guess you are not, as usual
<4> _AxS_: in the manual it said it was defualt set for dhcp, skip this section if u use it
<1> tomm1-> are you still on the livecd or on your system?
<7> thisbullet mabe in an hour or so must go to physical therapy
<0> tomm1: did you add net.eth0 to the default runlevel?
<6> _AxS_: the last time i had this error i was able to solve it by rebuilding the kernel, but i cant remeber excactly what i have done
<10> anyone know what package dnsdomainname is in, or if i have to link it, or if it's created by a script :\

<9> ^hEllL0rd, you wont need that, whats the issue
<1> Treborius-> well the issue is that your current kernel has this 'local version' of x86_64, and the nvidia-kernel module doesn't have it. so you gotta add it to nvidia-kernel and rebuild or remove it from your kernel.
<11> anyone running fuhquake in linux? Can't load my cfg, and wondering what directories fuhquake searches for the cfg in.
<12> unloading alsa modules ........ [!!] what is this?
<2> richiefrich: :(
<6> bingoxXx: at shutdown?
<4> _AxS_: live cd
<10> _bart_: should i comment out the NISDOMAIN= in conf.d/net?
<5> Did portage 2.1 change what files go in /etc/portage? I can't seem to get my /etc/portage/package.keywords to affect anything.
<0> tomm1: lynx 58% downloaded :(
<10> _bart_: because it's telling me that /bin/domainname doesn't exist or something
<1> Treborius-> i dunno how to add it to nvidia-kernel other than make sure its specified in /usr/src/linux/.config (which i believe is what nvidia-kernel reads when it gets built)
<12> treb: at restarting alsasound
<9> ^hEllL0rd, you got unknows_domain ?
<10> _bart_: i don't even know if that matters but i'm trying to figure out why net.eth0 won't start
<1> tomm1-> ahh nm.. not sure why it's not coming up for you anymore then
<4> Sakkath: whats your connection? if lynx is taking that long kde must take forever! (me=2mbps)
<12> i'm unable to configure sound
<10> _bart_: _bart_ like this: Setting NIS domain name.... /bin/domainname does not exist!
<4> _AxS_: it did work, but it stopped for no apparent reason
<0> tomm1: it's cable, but very very slow able, kde *is* going to take forever, I know it
<1> NIS = a samba-supplied thing isn't it?
<1> you got samba emerged?
<12> my dee/dsp is being used by some unknown process
<12> *dev/dsp
<13> Hi I am using KDE-3.5.1 and when I see a bzip2 file in konqeuror I can right click an choose open with ark, preview in ark but nothing to extract here or such.
<13> What a I missing?
<14> bingoxXx: fuser -v /dev/dsp will tell what uses it
<15> rever: if no one in here knows, you could ask in #kde
<16> rever: a terminal
<17> Hey, could someone help me with a slight problem I'm having? My locale is supposed to be different from what it is now, but I can't seem to be able to change it
<1> Rogue_Jedi_X-> ? how did you set it?
<12> cahoot: it shows nothing
<17> Via kcontrol
<6> Rogue_Jedi_X: /etc/conf.d/keymaps?
<14> bingoxXx: what msg do you get when accessing /dev/dsp?
<2> (**) Option "Dev Name" "Logitech USB RECEIVER"
<2> (**) Option "Dev Phys" "usb-0000:00:1d.0-1/input0"
<2> (EE) mouse1: cannot open input device
<2> No core pointer
<12> unable to open device
<2> can some one help me w/ that?
<14> bingoxXx: you member of 'audio' ?
<12> ya
<1> thisbullet-> what device is in your xorg.conf ? i'd recomend /dev/input/mice if it isn't already
<17> Treborius: It says "si" like it should, since I'm from Slovenia
<12> the alsamodules are also not unloading
<14> bingoxXx: 'id' says so too?
<2> _AxS_: im doing the mx1000. its /dev/input/event0
<12> cahoot:'id' ??
<18> how can I add my own package in portage? I tried to emerge cedega and it says that I must put the cedega-5.1.tgz in /usr/portage/distfiles, well, I have done that... nothing happend, and then i tested to do emerge --sync.... it didn't work either
<15> thisbullet: well, I"m not familiar with the error exactly, but I can attempt to help you w/ your xorg mouse setup
<14> bingoxXx: type id in a term (as user)
<1> mmmkay.. but you have a /dev/input/mice right?
<19> If a file IO process locks while trying to read a NFS mount and won't respond to kill -s 9, is there any other way to smite it?
<17> The problem is the clock, since every time I log in it's 5 hours late than it should be and my time zone is Belgrade, even though I changed it to Ljubljana the last time
<15> thisbullet: first, cat /dev/input/mouse0 and move the mouse around - jibberish should appear
<6> Rogue_Jedi_X: hmm have u build that locales? check /etc/portage/package.use for "sys-libs/glibc userlocales"
<12> cahoot: ya
<2> Shirakawasuna: would you rather take this to a pm?
<15> thisbullet: sure
<0> hey Shirakawasuna !
<14> bingoxXx: try aplay <some wav>
<15> hi Sakkath. How's the progress?
<0> Shirakawasuna: good just waiting for some stuff to emerge
<15> nice
<17> Treborius: Not there. Guess I should emerge that then, huh?
<12> cahoot; ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:222:(make_local_socket) connect failed: : Invalid argumentALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:851:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to connect client
<12> aplay: main:544: audio open error: Invalid argument
<6> Rogue_Jedi_X: no
<20> how would I list (with ls) all the hidden files in a directory NOT including . and ..? What regex?
<14> bingoxXx: ok - does /proc/asound exist?
<17> No?
<6> Rogue_Jedi_X: there you can define what locales u want to build, if you dont do that ALL are build, so i dont know why its not working
