<0> btw: does any of you have problems with gnomemeeting? <0> i cant compile that d**n thing on my machine .. .it says openh323 errors... <1> hakbeest: no...i can access any file, read and write on the usb without problems <0> even on amd64 the openh323 package causes errors... <2> jsbach_: also there are some drivers that have parameters to define that. <3> NeddySeagoon: what vga option would you suggest? <2> jsbach_: do so, and after tell me what solved it, please. :) <4> sorry user1 what was that, ksirc just crashed <3> NeddySeagoon: i did actually try the vga options but the kernel keeps reporting that the option i selected is invalid <1> hakbeest: no...i can access any file, read and write on the usb without problems <5> Anyone here successfully installed ZMySQLDA in zope from portage? Because I tried all the suggestions from the forums, yet none helped. <6> simmers1: 0x318 od 1027x768 24 bit colour <6> is* <3> NeddySeagoon: i'll try 0x314 <0> hmm, no gnomemeeters here then.. . :( <7> anyone here familiar with Captive-NTFS?
<0> what is Captive? <8> Authority: yes <6> simmers1: ok ... its all on the same long kernel line mind <8> I tried it, works perfectly reading the things <7> jsbach_: using window's drivers for full NTFS access from Free OS <2> OmgWtfIDiedLol: writing? <8> but whenever I tried deleting/writing it would pretend to write or delete, but 15 minutes later the files would be back <6> PT_LAmb: Its a wrapper for Windows NTFS own driver <0> Authority: ok... <4> user1: show me the line in mount which corresponds to it <8> I'm done using NTFS now <7> OmgWtfIDiedLol: I can only get it to mount up for root access, do you know how to make it allow regular users? <8> ohh, lemme look <2> NeddySeagoon: right... but does it write sucessufully? <8> #/dev/hde1 /main/6 captive-ntfs users,noauto,umask=0 $ <3> NeddySeagoon: i still got a fequency over range error <8> that was my line <8> and afaik it let users, but idk <6> PT_LAmb: Well, its not maintained and I don't have Windows any more :) <7> OmgWtfIDiedLol: I'll give that a shot <7> thanks <6> simmers1: Did you read my link and /usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt ? <9> Hey as anyone in here using XGL yet ? <10> no, but the video looks very good <4> user1:type mount <2> NeddySeagoon: me neither, but some friend do. :) <2> hum... how can I hide joins/parts/quits on irssi for this window? <11> Hi... The sound of my mplayer is very low. The sound works fine with others aplications, but with the mplayer its very low. <2> cesperanc: press 0 <12> PT_LAmb: /help ignore should describe it. <2> cesperanc: is it at the maximum? <2> equiraptor: cool thx. <11> PT_LAmb: Yes <13> wth does everyone say to cd /usr/src and make a link from the kernel ro a linux dir? what is the point? <2> hum... <8> GUIPEnguin: IDK, have you tried not doing it and seeing what doesn't work? <2> /ignore -network freenode #gentoo JOINS PARTS QUITS <14> hi there. mplayer complains about not being able to play a .bin-file with the errormessage 'mplayer: could not connect to socket; mplayer: no such file or directory' <2> I thing it does it. :) <14> how can I make it to play those files? <2> cesperanc: thx! <15> does mplayer xmms play .avi's? <2> GUIPEnguin: there are some links around that point to /usr/src/linux <13> OmgWtfIDiedLol: yes.. convience is not very convient <8> lol <2> GUIPEnguin: It's ***umed that a link like that would point to the kernel currently being used. <13> really? <16> french <16> ??? <8> well I know for a fact genkernel needs that link <8> to know what kernel to compile <16> french <16> ??? <14> pop|wrk: it does work every other files <14> even normally .bin files <13> PT_LAmb: what are the links? like system stuff unrealated to the compile its self? <11> PT_LAmb: Thank you... I disable the software mixer, and the problem is resolved... Thanks for your help <13> well I g2g for now.. peace and love <2> GUIPEnguin: what are links? <8> lol <2> cesperanc: me? what did I say?!
<8> PT_LAmb: your very willpower encouraged him to disable the software mixer <8> so naturally he thanked you <2> hum.. not viewing the parts has it's problems... <2> OmgWtfIDiedLol: LOL! <2> cesperanc: you serious? <3> NeddySeagoon: ivehad a quick look at my dmesg output for the failed video. it appears as if the vesafb was setup with a 16bit colour depth. it'd p***ed it 24 bit kernel parameter, which makes little sense. i'm wondering if my momitor doesnt permit a 60 Hz refresh rate with 16bit colour <6> simmers1: Your monitor has no knowledge of the colour depth being used in the video card. It can only object to the scan rate. 60Hz should be well inside its capability. Maybe you installed your kernel incorrectly ? Try uname -a look at the build time/date <17> I get a silly error, "A file exists that's not in the manifest" <18> odium, that's because you have strict checking enabled. <18> odium, on what package? <3> NeddySeagoon: i really think it must be a problem with the graphics drivers i have built in the kernel <17> When Python attempts to compile, it errors on Security Violation. dev-lang/python-2.4.2-r1 <18> odium, when did you last emerge --sync ? <17> yesterday. <18> odium, might be fixed already, as a temporary workaround you could set FEATURES="-strict" in make.conf temporarily <6> simmers1: Well, it works for many others, why is it wrong for you? Is your kernel build date/time right ? <19> Ppl ? For my Realtek '97 integrated sound card, which option should i include in menuconfig ? Because i have no sound in kde now :( ? <17> roger55, roger that. <17> HiHa snd_ac97_bus snd_ac97_codec and_intel8x0 <20> i have a serously big problem can some one help? <21> do any of you have a utility that you prefer over etc-update? <21> i asked before but i got pulled away and missed any answers <8> ahh well <17> Steve973: I edit the ._ files before I let them merge <19> odium: o, tnx. Is it in device drivers -> ? <8> Steve973 do any of you have a utility that you prefer over etc-update? <~~ cfg-update is what I use <22> Steve973: I use meld that shows the difference and modify the original <21> odium, i usually look through the list and manually merge the ones that are of interest. then -5 the rest of em <8> enternal: you can use meld with cfg-update <21> i'll try cfg-update. how is it different than etc-update? <23> accordin to portage, i do have an older v. of a pkg installed, yet i can't emerge -c pkg it says i don't have it? :S <22> OmgWtfIDiedLol: I know, but it seems easier to me to do it by hand <24> What gives better performance, a PCI NIC based on a RealTek 8139, or a NIC based on a VIA Rhine chipset? (I'm out of Intel EtherExpress 10/100-based cards) <22> to each their own of course :] <25> tek_mage: you'll have to tell us the problem before we know whether we can help <21> cfg-update is masked <8> basically iirc, it retains a DB of what config files you don't change, and then when you run it again, it will auto merge the confs that you haven't changed, and allow you to use a GUI util to merge them <8> o rly? <20> well i had a kernl panic and it can't mount my fs <8> that's weird <21> interesting. it's worth a look <8> yes, I quite prefer it <21> - app-portage/cfg-update-1.8.0-r3 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) <21> - app-portage/cfg-update-1.7.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) <21> i hope 2 lines didn't require pastebin <8> I wouldn't worry about it <25> tek_mage: k, start by rebooting from a livecd ... did you recently install a new kernel? <8> lol <6> Hi tek_mage: <22> and now you will be banned :o <21> i'll just package.unmask it <20> i just recentaly installed the distro like 2 weeks ago <21> or package.keyword. <26> Is there a way to add something to screen after it's already running? (ex: irssi) <27> Hi I get this error.... Couldn't find KDE install prefix! Where is the KDE prefix installed for kde-3.5.1? <28> rever, /usr/bin/kde/3.5/ <27> azi_, Thanks <20> and i'm on the livecd right now... and i dunno f this could be the prob but when i tryed to chroot /dev/hda3 /mnt/gentoo it sayd it didn't exist and i looked in /mnt/gentoo there was nothing there <8> >>> Updating Portage cache: 52% <8> anyone know why it takes so long in the 50's for me/ <29> OmgWtfIDiedLol: Because it does for everyone <22> it does that for me too :\ <8> AllenJB: OK, just checkin <8> ll <25> tek_mage: don't chroot <6> tek_mage: You need to mount your partition on /mnt/gentoo before you can chroot <20> k <6> tek_mage: * root partition <25> tek_mage: did you recently install a new kernel? <22> my laptop with reiserfs seems to be alot faster at that, but I haven't timed it <21> wow, cfg-update with gnome support wanted to install 35 megs of stuff. -gnome wants 1 meg of stuff. <20> mout: can't find /mnt/gentoo in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab <8> Steve973: does that include deps? <25> tek_mage: don't mount the disks either
