<0> pikhq: if i mount /proc and /dev like i would when setting up a chroot in the install docs, and then rsync -aP / /mnt/gentoo (the encrypted partition) should that work?
<1> ah, much obliged kojiro
<2> kojiro: I have no idea at what point it broke
<3> what does having a root on software RAID5 entail? What special do I have to do with the boot process?
<2> kojiro: NeddySeagoon made me alter some lines, then alter some use flags
<4> I had nice fonts in XFCE4 until I installed Gaim and restarted, and now they're all tiny and not aliased. What could have changed?
<2> s/lines/lines in xorg.conf/g
<5> How can I search for ^L in a file with nano?
<6> Kartagis: hang on a bit
<2> kojiro: sure
<7> .

<2> Nuxi: ctrl+w brings up search
<5> yup, but it doesn't seem to like special characters.
<8> any idea why kde-base/certmanager-3.5.2-r1 requires net-nds/openldap? in my USE flag I have -openldap but no luck
<9> ext2fs_mkdir: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while creating root dir
<10> hi! why do my gentoo distro do many times "chaching services dependecies" ????
<2> kojiro: I'm not very sure, but this may have happened after I issued the command /etc/init.d/hostname restart
<10> step: try -ldap !
<9> during mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdb1, i got this message. is it bad? ext2fs_mkdir: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while creating root dir
<11> hi there
<11> after a kernel upgrade eth0 has suddenly become eth1
<11> so now I have to do "dhcpcd eth1" everytime on startup
<11> any ideas how to change back?
<8> Eddyx89 i have -ldap and -openldap in my make.conf
<12> FartClone, try dmesg | grep eth0 and see what is showin up as eth0
<13> anyone know a on screen keyboard for x?
<10> FartClone: you should do rc-update add net.eth1 default
<14> AllenJB: you have an idea ? you see the link with http://zie.pg.gda.pl/mailman/pipermail/shadow/2005-April/000098.html ?
<10> FartClone: so dhcp will be done automatically, or anyway move eth0 config to eth1
<11> damn
<15> to get python I just emerge python?
<8> sayed: yes
<16> what is the name of Fasttrack in giftd.conf ?
<17> you should have python if you have portage, right?
<10> ha1f: of course!
<6> Kartagis: er.. I guess I didn't see everything you did in ##neddyseagoon
<9> bah, when connecting my ext hd now, i get ieee1394: Error parsing configrom for node 0-00:1023 ieee1394: Node changed: 0-00:1023 -> 0-01:1023
<6> Kartagis: besides useflags, what else did you change?
<3> what package is mdadm in?
<18> watcher77: No idea. Sorry
<2> kojiro: I'm not very sure, but this may have happened after I issued the command /etc/init.d/hostname restart
<19> hi all
<6> Kartagis: did you alter or update hostname?
<6> or baselayout?
<10> why do my gentoo init process do many times "chaching services dependecies" ????
<19> i`ve got problem
<11> ieee-1394 ipv4 over 1394 ethernet
<20> apus: dont we all
<11> is on eth0
<14> AllenJB: but you had the same pb ? did you reinstall anything to make it work well ?
<2> kojiro: I don't remember :(
<11> does that matter?

<6> Kartagis: is your system all up-to-date?
<2> kojiro: yes
<19> i`ve installed gdb, it`s debugger but works only in commandline
<6> Kartagis: what about config-files?
<10> FartClone: yes, maybe you should disable in kernel config iee1394 network...
<19> BULLE, yeah, that`s rigt :D
<11> ok Eddyx89 thanx
<21> hey all, my rc.conf file is set to load gnome. And I don't have an .xinitrc at all. Yet gnome only loads randomly. Everything is the newest version.
<2> kojiro: I thought I did etc-update
<6> Kartagis: try running it again, just to be sure
<19> and i installer also insight GUI to gdb, but itsn`t worrking
<19> i dont know what to do, cause in faq there was written, everything after installation shold be ok
<19> maybe you know any other debugger within GUI :)?
<22> hi everybody
<6> hello, trying_op
<2> kojiro: done
<6> Kartagis: was anything missing?
<22> does anyone know a good channel for openbsd?
<19> I need any debugger with GUI
<23> #openbsd perhaps? :)
<23> apus: ddd?
<24> \o/
<2> kojiro: /etc/skel/.bashrc and /etc/bash/.bashrc
<22> thanks
<6> Kartagis: try rebooting
<2> brb
<19> antarus, thx :)
<10> somebody remember where is nfs file "exports" in /proc?
<2> kojiro: same
<6> Eddyx89: ... /proc? I thought it was /etc/exports
<6> Kartagis: :-(
<10> yes but i mean the kernel's table of exported things..
<2> kojiro: NeddySeagoon made me uncomment the lines Load "glx" and Load "dri". could this have anything to do with it?
<19> one more question, any good ***embler and dissasembler
<6> Kartagis: do you have nvidia?
<25> any way to tell what the grub.conf is on the livecd
<25> ?
<2> kojiro: nope
<26> what do i emerge to get iwconfig anyone?
<18> metaphaz1: wireless-tools IIRC
<27> wireless-tools i think
<2> kojiro: so I uncomment them again and I'm good?
<26> what is IIRC
<18> metaphaz1: If I Remember Correctly
<6> Kartagis: I suppose. The thing is, totem doesn't work without xv, and xv doesn't work without dri. NeddySeagoon set you up with DRI, which, if something is broken, could certainly stop X from starting. But the simple fact that twm starts as root points to a more complicated issue
<26> ahh
<10> apus: dev-util/biew.. i tried it... works ;-)
<18> metaphaz1: And it is in wireless-tools - just checked my system
<28> anyone got any idea why this could be happening?
