<0> ty <1> Does anybody know how to disable the plain text login method in courier-imap ("P***word" as per evolution)? CRAM-MD5 challenge response is a little better ;) ? <2> hi all, tring to install gentoo with a network connection to a pc that's connected to the net...but first i can't seem to get <2> them communicating <3> damn <2> am i using the wrong type of cable? Should i be using a crossover cable? <4> mabus: grml can be console or X - there's a minimal version which is very minimal - austrumi (latvian/english) is X and very light <5> noimnot: save your /usr/src/linux/.config, remove the kernel sources, emerge gentoo-sources and rebuild the kernel. <3> kernel panic after starting up X with fglrx module :-S <6> ahh nanobanshee look: <6> $ /sbin/lsmod -V <6> Usage: lsmod <6> its..... <5> noimnot: if you get symbol errors and strange modules loading problems, you need a fresh build. <6> of the kernel? <5> noimnot: yes.
<7> shikamaru85, direct connections between computers need crossover cables; if u use a switch, then you can take normal cables <6> hm.. <6> nanobanshee: been doing that atleast 5 times now <8> Time for bed. <0> I'm going to make a gentoo kernel and put it on a usb key w/o x, so I can put that in when I'm having a bad day and remember how much worse it used to be <5> noimnot: you did a fresh build and got alsa symbol errors? <6> umm no <2> flurischt: so in this situation (serving net from one pc to another) crossover is the right choise right? <6> now its not about the symbol errors anmore <6> but about lsmod segfaulting <6> then haning there -> zombie <6> hanging* <8> Thanks everyone. <7> shikamaru85, i would say.. <9> hi <2> flurischt: thanks! <5> noimnot: get a fresh emerge of sys-apps/module-init-tools <6> the symbol errors disappeared when the lsmod error appeared nanobanshee <6> nanobanshee: did that half an hour ago <6> actually thats what my research this night brought up <6> and the reason why im here is that it didnt work :< <10> anyone knows how to get an a4tech wop35 mouse to work?? <6> neither removing also nor reinstalling moduleutils <10> it has 2 scroll wheels and 5 mousebuttons <6> but can someone tell me how to "not" load the opengl driver at bootup? <6> making sure its not it could help alot <8> The next *big* project I think is trying to get my Palm to work. Maybe it's almost trivial. <0> Jessica1: work w/ linux, or just come alive? <5> noimnot: check in /etc/modules.autoload.d/* <9> is there a way to unmask in package.keywords specific versions of an app ? like appversion-1.2.3 ( but what i want is it to unmask only that version and its -r? releases ... , so appversion-1.2.3 is unmasked and also appversion-1.2.3-r1 and above ( but no appversion-1.2.4 or appversion-1.2.3.1 ) <11> hi, where is the log file of people ssh in to my computer ? <8> daddysmurf, work in kde integrating with korganiser and other KDE components. <4> Yagami: ~app-1.2.3 i think <8> It's working fine on it's onw. <8> s/onw/own/ <0> Jessica1: haha, good luck, I've yet to get mine to sync up w/ linux <6> no nanobanshee :8 <5> snow_ru: grep sshd /var/log/messages <6> nothing there.. <6> i know i modprobed fglxsomething once <5> noimnot: I really suggest doing a fresh kernel build without the opengl, and then adding it in later as a module. <12> Hi peeps. Quick question: when the docs say the use flag kdeenablefinal takes up a lot of memory, do they mean when KDE is running or during compilation? And what is a lot? <6> right.. <6> thats what it's supposed to be now :y <9> juckes: is it also possible to do to package.keywords like css ? making package.keywords just read package_Xorg7.keywords and package_kde-5.2.keywords <6> it should be loaded at bootup <6> and i suspect it to be the reason for all the segfault <5> noimnot: no. I mean don't build it at first. <13> Hello <8> daddysmurf, I've been able to get three different ones to sync up with Linux on at least three different machines, I believe one on two different machines, one machine syncing with two Palm devices. It's not that difficult if you start looking for the documentation. There are a number of things you have to setup though. It's *not* one of those plug and play type things, at least not in Gentoo. <4> Yagami: i don't know that - good idea though <5> noimnot: test your kernel before the ati-driver stuff is linked in. <13> Can anybody help with apache 2.2.0 ?? I'm doing a fresh install and I can't get it to work. The server starts just fine. <13> But <13> Accessing the web site gives me a 403 error <13> . I tried creating .htaccess files and changing the default vhost, but to no avail <14> whats the easiest way to set up xorg 7 automatically <14> is there a prog to set a a xorg.conf? <6> nanobanshee: only problem not sure its loaded yet <13> Hello <6> i cant lsmod, remember? ;)
<13> Can anybody help with apache ? <15> any kind person who can help me? please read my post: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-452885-highlight-.html <6> and its a fresh build (just the first time i booted this build) <6> im just not sure if it loads the driver at bootup <6> also if so; where :< <5> noimnot: yes, but it has ati-driver in it, correct? <14> whats the command to automatically create a xorg.conf file? <6> nanobanshee: ummm no not really <5> ITguru: Xorg -configure <14> thanks <6> not per config <16> Hello. <14> lol it cant detect my mouse <16> Has anyone managed to run matplotlib with -gtk USE setting? <6> i emerged ati-drivers, made sure the kernel matches the prerequisites.. <17> I'm using a debian rescue system in a gentoo hardened system, I booted, mounted all partitions, but when I tried to chroot /mnt/gentoo I got "Bus Error" someone know why? how can I solve this? <16> It emerges ok, but wants to load gtk python libraries anyway. <5> noimnot: build a fresh kernel without ati-drivers. <6> well.. <14> it works other than my mouse!!! <16> ice`work: bus error sounds serious. Might be a hardware failure. <6> i dont have ati-drivers in this kernel afaik <6> all i did was modprobing fglxsomething once <6> and switching to the ati version of opengl <5> noimnot: have you tried re=booting? <17> yess, hummm.. a failure in my HD? <6> haha <6> several times, yeah <6> its soo weird <6> lsmod segfaulting :X <0> where can I get a sage 4 tarball? <18> herbs.gentoo.org <0> ty <4> goldfish++ <18> (it was a joke) <0> I see that <0> can you not get the stage 4? <0> it's not 4-20 yet, i don't get it <6> nanobanshee: could this help?: http://rafb.net/paste/results/t5TEmS51.html <14> whats the protocal for a logitech usb mouse? <6> nanobanshee: look at line 7 <0> where can I get a sage 4 tarball? <9> juckes: perfect , just what i wanted !! i have been doing it by =appversion-1.2.3* but that didnt work really like i wanted ... many thanx <4> daddysmurf: stage 4 is a backup you make of your own system <4> Yagami: :) <0> damnit... <5> noimnot: yes. it helps. it tells me you need a fresh kernel build without ati-drivers. <19> ITguru: IMPS/2 <0> I was getting all excited when I heard someone mention that... <18> daddysmurf: *stage <6> hah <6> that sounds great <0> goldfish: ?? <4> daddysmurf: but what you really want is a stage 5 <18> juckes: heh <6> at least better than reinstalling the whole system <18> daddysmurf: Stage, not sage. no? <0> oh, yea <0> juckes: you're welcome to quit making an *** out of me any time <4> thx <20> hi people, someone here use an ATI X200 graphic card and have 3d acceleration? <21> when using mesa 6.5 i have no hardware acceleration, but it works fine with 6.4.2 - when trying to start xgl it looks like the i915 driver is used instead of i810 - any ideas to what might be wrong? <0> I'm gonna go nuts if I don't get a graphical screen... <20> daddysmurf: text browsers are cool :) (W elinks) <22> Question: How come when I change a setting in konsole (kde) the settings wont save? I want to change the background colour, but always reverts back to black on white. <4> daddysmurf: have you got app-misc/screen yet ? <23> Hi. When doing 'emerge -puv mysql' it shows: "[ebuild U ] dev-db/mysql-4.1.14-r1 [4.1.14] USE="berkdb perl ssl -big-tables -cluster -debug -embedded% -extraengine -minimal -raid% -srvdir% -static" 16,684 kB". What does the keywords followed by a percent sign mean? <23> They show up as yellow. <24> eye69, I believe they are new use flags <4> new use flags <23> So new for this version? <21> Aurvandill: you have to save the settings.. <21> "save session" i think
