<10> LinuxMafia, so to get portage to do it you need to get that installer run file and place it in distfiles and then cp the ebuild in portage to the same dir but change the name to the version you want... then cd to that dir's files dir and do ebuild ../doom3-1.1.1286.ebuild digest... then you can emerge it

I merged gnome and started it up, and as soon as it started to load gnome-panel the status box that has the various icons along the bottom vanished. <29> I'm installing Gentoo for a friend.... he's on a Dell Inspiron 9100 ... using KDE .... there's an annoying huge "Volume" window that isn't going away. When kmix was installed, it was going crazy always trying to change volume to zero..... you could increase volume in amixer and it'd shoot it back to zero. I uninstalled kmix... but the volume window remains. Any ideas??
