<0> permission denied?
<1> Vinky: yup
<2> or maybe wget http://crudball.andrewpangborn.com/bash-scripts/kernelcompiler.sh && chmod 777 kernelcompiler.sh && ./kernelcompiler.sh
<3> phoul: login via root
<2> sorry forgot to make it executable
<4> connyosis, can you run konsole as a user?
<3> lol
<5> crudball: 777? chmod +x would be better :)
<2> meh
<1> Vinky: works fine here
<6> I have a opengl problem: http://i6.tinypic.com/11jrqso.png. I am using nvidia-kernel/glx 7174 [the latest supported by my card]
<3> cruball: does its ask for options too ?
<0> must be root
<0> so now i do
<0> su
<0> Umm whats the command to run it

<4> connyosis, just updated and everytime I try to start konsole its wants to give me a rootkonsole
<3> "./kernel*.sh"
<1> Vinky: tried to delete ~/.kde* ?
<2> phoul do ./kernelcompiler.sh
<2> then when it is running
<2> if you want to use /usr/src/linux (most likely) type yes when it asks
<4> connyosis, I will since you dont have it
<0> thats it?
<2> depends if you have a .config file
<2> otherwise yes
<0> well i said yes and it seems to be running and doing stuff
<2> phoul ok just leave it then
<2> will take a while
<6> Please help with http://i6.tinypic.com/11jrqso.png.
<0> k and what do i need to add to grub after for this to boot?
<2> phoul what kernel files have you got in boot at the moment
<2> ls /boot/kernel*
<0> only uhh
<0> /boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.16-gentoo-r7
<0> /boot/kernelconfig-2.6.13-vidalinux
<2> oh you use vidalinux? thats a good distro
<4> connyosis, seems to work
<2> ok you will need to modify your grub a bit
<1> Vinky: goodie
<0> yeah what will i need to put in tho?
<4> connyosis, not the best solution but...
<0> and where
<0> lol
<2> what is the kernel version you are compiling
<7> okay I solved my problem....sound-juicer needed libhistory.so.4 and libreadline.so.4 but after i emerged readline i had libhistory.so.5 and libreadyline.so.5 so I renamed it and now work properly ;)
<0> umm i dont honestly know crudball lol i did emerge gentoo-sources
<5> jasiek: thats a bad idea
<2> ok
<7> why?
<8> jasiek: symlink would be better, and re-emerging sound-juicer better still
<5> jasiek: rebuilding sound-juicer probably would've fixed it
<2> ls /usr/src/linux phoul
<2> what does that show
<0> can i pm it to you?
<5> Triffid_Hunter: a symlink is still a bad idea, especially if abi changed between the sonames
<2> yeah ok
<7> it was a little mistake...i didn't mv it but cp...is it chaning antyhing?
<5> jasiek: revdep-rebuild is such a great tool btw :)
<9> jasiek: symlinking would've saved you some disk space ;)
<6> Please help with http://i6.tinypic.com/11jrqso.png.
<10> TFKyle, finally got the new kernel recompiled
<5> Distro^Junkie: yay
<9> jasiek: (And reflected changes in the original file, if there ever are some)
<10> had to redo it a few times as missed a few things
<11> DCC SEND "1234567890123456789" 000
<12> !
<10> moron
<13> So what's a good program to use for networking 2 linux boxes together so they can see each other's filesystems? (not samba)
<6> grant_: nfs...
<13> TomM1: thx
<6> edit_21: hi
<14> hhhi
<5> TomM1: whats wrong with it (your screenshot)?
<6> TFKyle: see the borked glxgears
<6> TFKyle: i havent touched them [changed the view] just typed glxgears and they come up borked

<5> ah, I do now :)
<5> TomM1: if you go to the window or change the view do they unb0rk? (I think I've had this problem before when I had composite enabled on my PII and it was using one of the xorg 7.1 betas)
<6> yes!
<6> TFKyle: this is X 7 and composite
<10> hmm should I go and emerge modular xorg ?
<6> Distro^Junkie: yeah
<10> TomM1, is it easy to do ?
<6> Distro^Junkie: theres even scripts to do it for you, cant get easier than that
<10> where do I find it ?
<5> TomM1: don't think I ever tried to fix it, stopped using composite on my PII a little while ago because its fairly slow (old hardware, old videocard)
<6> mzbot wiki modular xorg
<6> Distro^Junkie: ^^^^^^^^
<15> How deep should the paths be set in patches applied by epatch in ebuilds?
<10> ok I'll go look
<5> I say ban *!*@*, that will stop all those h4xx0rs :P
<10> lol
<3> lol
<16> hello all!
<16> What are the leading IM clients for linux
<16> Gaim, Kopete, and what else
<5> dantarion: gaim and kopete are probably high on the list
<6> dantarion: bitlbee ;P, gaim and kopete
<17> /iff match=hacker, /AKICK
<5> oh, you already know about them :)
<18> amsn
<16> thanks
<18> tmsnc :)
<19> psi
<20> guys anybody here has a linksys router?
<5> oh, and gajim and gossip if its jabber you want
<19> trumee: I do
<5> trumee: I do
<6> http://gentoo.pastebin.com/756012
<20> i want to use sip on my router. how do i open ports?
<10> TomM1, can't find the script you are talking bout
<18> portforwarding.com
<19> trumee: I only use openwrt, i don't know what the linksys web config is like
<5> trumee: if its something like mine, go to the web interface on 192.168.x.1 and find the port forwarding section
<20> dystopianray,TFKyle: i have tried to forward 5060, 8000-8005 ports on the router. but still my sip client gets stuck
<18> trumee: http://www.portforward.com/ here is eveything you need
<18> Did you try portscan to see if they are really open
<20> mabu:yah, i tried this page but still my sip client gets stuck
<18> my planet router sometimes opens them sand sometimes not
<6> Distro^Junkie: i cant find it either, guess http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Modular_Xorg will do
<10> ok
<10> thanx will work on that now
<10> then try and get my ati card going
<20> guys, does ntl cable modem also has a web interface?
<16> woot my first custom kernel is ready!
<21> hi
<3> hi
<22> manpages evidently wandered off again...
<22> manpages leave
<21> i see some udp traffic neing sent to my ISP's nameservers and some other IP addresses as well, is there a way to find out which application produces this traffic?
<19> trumee: if it has an ip address, then probably
<20> dystopianray:http://scan.sygatetech.com/probe.html doesnt return any open ports
<23> anyone knows how it is possible when a module trying to load to say that it failed to load some module when i can modprobe the said module fine?
<10> is openmotif needed ?
<24> did you modprobe them seperately/
<19> trumee: then you have not setup your port forwarding correctly
<23> AviRamana, ?
<20> dystopianray:umm,ok
<17> keramidas: let's try here
<23> AviRamana, ivtv0: Failed to load module tuner
<24> psofa , what modules?
<17> Does anyone know of a way to extract files from an ISO or mount an ISO without root privs?
<23> however when i do modprobe tuner it loads fine
<19> trumee: although that site appears to only be probing a few select ports, 80, 22, 25, etc.. nothing related to sip i wouldn't think
<19> kojiro: burn it to a cd
<24> psofa , what module is causing tuner to automagically come up?
<25> hmm any known reason to why i cant login from any tty other than 7 where my X is running?
<17> dystopianray: not feasible, this is to be run in a script.
<23> AviRamana, it doesnt load by itself
