<0> bonsaikitten, tx :) so i will check it back in 2 hours, RiverRat im using the gtk installer, i will check the log
<1> kdag: genlop is nice for that too.
<2> solv: did you run modules-update?
<3> likewhoa, and like I said my 64bit install kernel compiled the driver in no probs...never asked for firmware...but this one thinks it needs it....!!!!
<4> <2><2>: see new window ! pm me
<3> likewhoa, and if i didn't should i start to feel a little stoopid now
<2> damn spammers
<3> =)
<5> likewhoa: ?
<1> design: ENOUGH! Quit PMing without permission.
<2> design: you can only /msg me if you register your nick
<2> blackace: nah he thinks he's talking to me.. but he must not be register..
<4> :( sorry ...
<5> likewhoa: ok, if he bugs you, let us know
<2> np
<3> design, /msg nickserv identify p***word

<6> stupid printer cartridges
<6> bye people!
<2> solv: thanks alot :P
<6> thanks, sovl
<3> Shirakawasuna, damn straight
<6> *solv
<3> likewhoa, sorry!
<7> does anybody know if you can re-***emble a software raid array without the mdadm.conf?
<3> just ignore
<8> fluxdude, yes, --scan and --***emble are your friends :-)
<7> bonsaikitten: I thought this relied on the mdadm.conf since I moved it and then tried to re-***emble and it didn't work
<8> fluxdude, if you have persistent superblocks that should not be a problem
<7> bonsaikitten: that's what I thought too, but the only way I managed to get the thing back was to re-create the array with the same command I used to create it, then I could get the data straight away but I then had to let it sync
<8> fluxdude, hmmm ... that's weird
<7> bonsaikitten: --scan seems to need the conf, shame cos I hoped that it would find the info in the superblocks...
<4> <2>: hehe , i can's msg you ,but can you msg me ?
<2> design: no i can't, dunno why
<4> a pity
<1> design: He doesn't want to. Now please quit trolling.
<8> fluxdude, you can use wildcards in the conf, just set hd[abcd][12345678] or something and it scans all disks
<7> bonsaikitten: hmmm, I think I'm gonna put this to the test...
<9> fluxdude -- if you can't get it worked out --- look for kerframil .. he's in #gentoo-server alot (not at the moment though) -- he is Gentoo RAID god... helped me fix up my RAID 1 server in no time.
<4> i just want a man to talk something about life and others , i dont mean to bug or trolling
<7> GTswagger: thanks
<5> design: then you are probably on the wrong network.
<8> fluxdude, you need DEVICE /dev/hd* for scan
<3> design, if you have a gentoo question we would love to help...if not try a different irc server
<10> design: ##gentoo-pub
<9> design -- I think this may be up your alley: #lugradio
<9> :D
<4> <5>: yeah , i know ,but no any other room has so many people
<1> design: Try ##gentoo-pub or ##otw
<5> design: well, you're off-topic here.
<3> design, try efnet irc server...they have thousand of ppl on some channels
<10> RiverRat: Man, I tried otw once. It's a weird channel :)
<3> design: singles, gays, lebs, asian, whatever
<11> and everyone on efnet is super friendly
<9> lol
<1> goldfish: Yeah, I don't go there anymore. To many pre-teens. :)
<10> hehe
<12> hi
<12> I wann cache distfiles using a squid server
<12> can I do that
<4> <8> thank you
<8> davut, yes, but there's a better package available
<4> thanks all
<9> hehe - he joined lugradio .. poor Jono Bacon will never knew what hit him... but he deserves it for being such an Ubuntu homer ;)
<9> np :D
<4> good guys!
<12> bonsaikitten, what is that package?
<13> DJGummikuh: ping
<4> how to identify to nickserv
<5> design: /msg nickserv help
<1> design: /msg nickserv help
<14> design: /msg nickserv help identify, even :p
<3> design: /quit
<5> design: now please either get on-topic, be quiet, or leave.
<14> solv: :/
<4> <3>: you are the most bad man
<3> reisio, i already told him earler

<3> design, how...i gave you help...gave you options to find friends...what more do you want!
<4> ok !
<4> i love gentoo and fluxbox
<13> that's nice... no one cares...
<3> welp =)
<8> davut, net-proxy/http-replicator
<3> lol
<15> morning
<13> morning
<16> Maybe design is a chatter bot someone wrote ...
<4> not i am NOT a bot
<12> bonsaikitten, I have read about that and I am running squid on my box and dont wanna run another proxy thing
<17> I'm sad... I just allocated the last of the free space in my lvm :(
<1> GTswagger: Did you kidnap our bout?
<7> bonsaikitten: just did mdadm -Ac partitions -m 0 /dev/md0
<7> Segmentation fault
<1> bot*
<8> davut, problem with squid is that it won't cache when you fetch from different mirrors
<5> lets all mind the topic please.
<9> RiverRat -- I smacked GenBot so hard it disconnected him from Freenode ;)
<12> bonsaikitten, hmm why?
<4> /msg NickServ help register
<1> design: Without the leading space.
<8> davut, squid only checks the URL and doesn't know that mirrors can have the same file
<4> <1>: yeah , i know
<18> Lo guys
<8> davut, http-replicator is a bit more limited, but has that extra know-how
<13> solv: faster boot times if you compile specific drivers into the kernel
<2> solv: i find modules to be of an advantage
<12> bonsaikitten, I didnt like the idea of running repcacheman after every emerge
<3> ooo...opposite opinions...excellent...
<2> solv: i have everything i can possibly as modules not built-in
<4> The nickname [design] is already registered
<7> well, I came still start it if I know which disks it uses, did mdadm -A /dev/md0 /dev/hd[abef]1 successfully...
<3> design, you'll have to come up with a new one
<5> design: this is not a network support channel, ask someone in /stats p for help.
<3> likewhoa, why this way?
<8> davut, as far as I know you don't have to
<16> solv: compiled in modules -- faster bootup time, increaed kernal size. Depending on your computer, the kernel might get too big, in which case you have to use modules. This becomes an issue if your system is on say a SCSI disk which needs a certain module driver, but that module driver can't be accessed until it is loaded. Sometimes you use compiled in drivers for that but most of the time you'd use initrd
<2> solv: why you think?
<3> the only thing i can think of is it not locking up the kernel if there is an error
<13> does anyone here use acid on gentoo?
<14> welp: acid?
<2> welp: acid as audio editor?
<12> bonsaikitten, I read the forums and the how-to it is written as I said
<13> Analysis Console for Intrusion Databases
<13> used on servers with snort for intrusion detection
<8> davut, hmmm .... I quit using it, but it seemed to work without repcacheman
<2> ids module?
<14> I'm sure someone uses it
<14> it's in le portage, after all
<13> i've been following the guide at: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Use_Snort,_Acid,_and_MySQL_Effectively#Setup_MySQL
<3> Qaexl, yeah i like compiling in for faster boot times...that's why i would opt for it....and a big kernel is not gonna be an issue for me...i'm running a lean as possible pro audio system...just wondering why most people go for modules...it seems kinda bloated or something
<12> bonsaikitten, why did u quit using it?
<4> last question : how to change my name "design" to "hejux" ?
<13> design: /nick <newnick>
<2> design: /nick hejux
<1> /nick hejux
<2> damnu welp :P
<13> *pwns*
<13> :P
<2> lol :D
<8> davut, there's no overlap between my two local gentoo boxen, so I don't gain anything
<16> solv: I prefer mostly modularized if I'm going to be swapping devices in and out. A good example is if you got a lot of USB devices hanging around. If you compiled it in, it's going to sit in the kernel whether you use it or not
<8> davut, and with download speeds above 1,5MB/s I just don't care anymore
<19> ya!
<12> :)
<13> to emerge with new USE flags is "emerge -N world" right?
<3> welp, that is everything...or emerge -N atom
<3> for individual package
<19> hi ! i am already identified! WOW!
