<0> Vorondil: and your sister use the official msn messenger ?
<1> no, gaim
<2> khc: Some guy that Paco-paco kicked for being retarded PM'ed that to Paco-Paco
<2> Specifically, he asked things like "[Cntryboy] paco-paco: now with out being rude can u please explain how to turn off the feature that allows me to get booted?" in the channel.
<3> hah
<4> gn8
<5> Hi, a silly question... any plan to support skype chat on gaim?
<6> indeed, a silly question
<2> franck, don't hold your breath.
<7> sadrul: dunno, ill see what gtkgaim does
<5> ForlornPenguin: I won't, was just wondering if there were talks around about it...
<2> Sure. Gaim currently has no backend for voice or video support of any kind.
<8> hello, how do i change hostmask in Gaim?
<3> You can't
<8> not even by using a proxy?
<3> Then it's not

<3> Then it's not "in Gaim" anymore
<8> ok
<8> that hostmask is what i send on the internet all the time btw?!
<2> genetrix, your hostmask is just the pretty version of your IP. It is never broadcast, but can be looked up.
<8> how can it be looked up? i didnt even know windows XP sent that hostmask (login name)
<8> i remember using some irc client on linux some years ago, it never supplied login / account in hostmask
<3> Your client sends the username part
<8> in this case GAIM
<3> Which you can set in the account editor
<8> you can? oho
<3> The hostmask though, is not changable within gaim
<8> i re.log, bbl.
<5> ForlornPenguin: I use skype a lot for chat only... most of the time I don't need audio or video...
<5> and as skype tends to send messages to all the open skypes under your nick...
<5> and you can always refer back to "busy" when the other one try to call you and not chat to you... ;)
<8> khc: it worked, thanks.
<2> Unfortunately, Skype is not an open protocol and I don't think there's any documentation for that. It is possible that Skype IM chat will be supported in Gaim someday, but it's not really in the plans so to say. Someone would have to crack the Skype protocol and publish how it worked first.
<5> yes....
<9> and then someone who cared enough would have to implement the prpl, as i seriously doubt any gaim devs want to take on another prpl
<5> indeed...
<10> can Gaim do file transfers with MSN?
<3> Yes
<10> cool
<10> thanks for the info
<11> where would the smiley theme file be located that I would need to edit so that I can use AIM smileys instead of yahoo ones?
<12> CiRkiT: /usr/share/pixmaps/gaim/smileys is where the default ones are located, but you can also put them in your home directory somewhere under ~/.gaim (I don't remember exactly where)
<12> ~/.gaim/smileys, looks like
<13> hi
<13> I've a probem with gaim and msn
<13> when I login it on this protocol it crash
<14> 'Anyone can give me Direct link to download hdlist ?''
<15> Anyone know how to change the color of the popup when I hover over a buddy?
<15> The yellow is clashing with my system default
<12> change your gtk theme
<14> Anyone can give me Direct link to download hdlist ?
<12> chills: you already asked that, and nobody knows what "hdlist" is
<15> I didn't even think of that, thanks
<14> Err In Linux Redhat Disk 1
<3> If it's not gaim related, this is probably the wrong place.
<12> yeah, what does that have to do with gaim?
<16> hi folks :)
<16> can I see someone's webcam with gaim?
<12> if you place them side-by-side, sure
<16> :D
<16> funny! :D
<12> gaim doesn't support webcams on any protocol, currently :-)
<16> ah ok :)
<16> what's about kopete? :)
<12> no clue
<16> ok thanks anyway :)
<16> well, sorry for such a stupid question, I swear I don't flame or such
<16> what's the magic about gaim?
<16> I mean what makes it special?
<16> (sorry, my english is poor :) )
<12> as far as I know, it's the only client that supports all of the protocols that it supports that works under non-windows
<12> (other than Adium, on OSX, but it's based heavily on gaim :-P
<16> :)
<16> yes, but kopete does the same job, isn't it? :)
<12> I don't know - last time I tried kopete, it crashed all the time - but that was a couple of years ago...
<16> I have it now and it's quite nice, sure it's a kde thing but it's somehow sweet
<16> anyway :)

<16> and what's about a crack or a serial for msn messenger? :D
<17> huh?
<16> just kidding!!! :D
<16> good night boys :)
<18> Hi
<18> CAn someone tell me the latest revision of gaim svn that would compile clean for them
<9> you shouldn't be using svn
<18> rekkanoryo, why not?
<9> because we don't want users using svn. users should be using releases, whether they like it or not. only those who are contributing to gaim should be using svn.
<18> rekkanoryo, ok then tell me how to fix the problem with gaim 1.5 after my system resumes?
<9> you could try gaim 2.0.0beta3
<9> also are you using windows? if so, go to #wingaim
<18> No I am using linux ;)
<18> Suspend 2 Ram is sweet techology
<19> too bad it works like *** most the time
<20> I cannot get my gaim 2.0 b3 to minimize to the notification area.
<21> it doesn't "minimize" to the notification area
<20> Ya know how you can close the buddy list and it goes into the gnome notification area instead of closing?
<21> if you have the docklet loaded, when you close the blist it will disappear but remain running
<20> Paco-Paco, Yeah, not happening for me. The docklet doesn't load.
<21> well, why not?
<20> I don't know. Is that something you can help me debug?
<21> you open plugin preferences, find the System Tray Icon item, and you check the box ... and what happens?
<20> Paco-Paco, Nothing happens.
<21> does the box check?
<20> Yeah it is checked.
<21> so ... something happened
<21> now we're getting somewhere, once you stop lying to me
<20> :)
<21> does a Gaim icon appear in the notification area?
<20> Nope
<21> uncheck the box, then go to Help | Debug Window in your blist
<21> then check the box again
<21> does an error appear?
<20> tray icon: failed to embed within timeout
<20> gtkblist: removed visibility manager: 0
<21> there you go
<21> sounds like a gnome problem to me
<21> are you certain you *have* a notification area?
<20> Yes. And just to make sure, I'll add another.
<21> I'm not sure you can successfully have more than one
<20> Two notifications area.
<21> in fact, if you do, that might be your problem
<21> I have no idea how that works
<21> are there other icons in the notification area?
<20> None. But i don't use many programs that use it.
<21> well, try loading something else
<21> stick one of the stupid stock gnome things in there
<20> Any ideas which go there?
<7> rythmbox puts an icon there
<20> Nope.
<20> I'll make you a bet I know what it is come to think of it.
<20> A while ago I installed some debs with the suse gnome panel patches. I wonder if that killed it.
<21> definitely sounds like you broke it
<20> Yeah, probably. Now to figure out how to go back to the distribuiton's version.
<20> Thanks guys
<22> HI
<22> How to enable video conferencing in gaim 2.x
<22> ?
<3> You can't
<22> khc, is it removed ?
<23> the functionality was being developed, didn't work well and eventually was left for dead
<23> maybe in the future.
<22> _Robbo, ok do You know any other software for both Linux and Windows that has video conferencing ?
<23> I haven't looked, only a recent Linux convert
<3> gnome-meeting aka ekiga?
<22> khc, yes but not from windows in this case
<22> for*
<22> khc, I need app to talk with windows user...
<22> khc, and most of those poeple think that they enter the internet whne they open their browser ;/
<24> does anyone know, is there some kind of jabber message that is...different from a normal message, where it would make sense to just see a message and a subject line, and no return talking area?
