<0> does anybody knows if it's possible to put a picture on gaim->gtalk account ?
<1> tools > accounts > modify
<0> I don't see where to put a picture in there :(
<0> that's why I came here to ask
<1> "Buddy icon"
<1> oh, and use 2.0.0beta3
<0> damn, i have 1.5, I think I have 2 somewhere :)
<0> thanks !
<2> "I think I have 2 somewhere" <-- uh, what?
<3> it's in his other pants
<1> No, he has 2 1.5s
<1> duh
<3> MSN is for fools
<3> and so is HTTP
<3> next

<4> I know
<4> they are my in-laws
<3> haha
<4> believe me, I know
<2> good reason to claim breakage
<2> "I'd love to talk to you, but I can't"
<3> you go get him
<5> anyone have the problem of gaim constantly changing the smiley theme to none by itself?
<3> nope
<5> ;.
<5> it keeps happening
<6> Does it happen with any smiley theme you pick or just specific ones?
<5> um
<5> i havent really checked
<5> im using crystal gaim
<6> Try a different theme, see if it happens with that too.
<5> yea i just changed
<7> hey everybody, I have to bother again with a little question: is it possible to access the security settings for web status for icq from within gaim 1.5.0? I would like to change that everyone can see my status
<6> No, you can't change the Web Aware status in 1.5.0.
<7> I was afraid you say this...I saw the option in gaim 2.0_beta3...but I rolled back to 1.5.0
<7> semms like I have to wait for the next beta (or final?) release of gaim 2.0
<6> What's wrong with the current beta?
<7> the N/A status is missing?
<7> ok, I am bit picky here, but thats my most used status
<7> the whole status system is messed up here, names don't fit to the actual status (german version) and N/A status is totally missing
<6> The translation is broken you mean?
<7> yes, the translation is broken and one status is totally missing ( it's already as a bug reported: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1507416&group_id=235&atid=100235 )
<3> that wacky vogt
<3> your English seems good, you could just use it in English for hte time being
<6> beta3 doesn't have the NA status for ICQ?
<7> hmm...worth a try
<3> if you start gaim as, e.g., 'LANG=en_US.utf8 gaim', it should read correctly
<3> or en_GB or whatever you might prefer
<7> deryni, seems like that...I can recompile beta3 and try again but I didn't find it earlier today
<7> Paco-Paco, I think I'll try that
<6> And you are sure you looked in the per-account substatus stuff?
<7> deryni, I am recompiling beta3 right now, can tell you in a few minutes
<3> it's also possible that you could patch the translation, if there's a patch on that bug report (I didn't look)
<6> The bug report was for the N/A status, not the translation.
<3> oh
<0> i'm not getting the gtalk picture capability with beta3, nor is using ssl on compile
<6> What's broken about the German translation anyway?
<7> deryni, one minute...its nearly compiled :)
<6> GaRaGaIm: If you aren't building with ssl, you should install the right libraries/header files.
<0> I have them, on debian "apt-get install libssl-dev"
<0> but still dont get them recognized
<6> gaim doesn't use openssl.
<0> ./configure --with-ssl
<0> nono of that worked
<6> You need nss/nspr or gnutls.
<0> im installing gnutls, thanks for the advice :)
<0> let's see :)
<0> perfect ! thanks
<0> what about the gtalk picture capability?
<0> any advice ?
<3> GaRaGaIm: FAQ
<6> What you were told before.
<3> deryni: that was the correct answer
<0> Paco-Paco: in other words, not supported ? seanegan told me different :)
<6> He said read the FAQ, and yes, you should listen to what you were told and not ask a second time.
<3> the FAQ clearly explains the SSL situation

<0> come on, someone tells me there is something I can use, I look for it, is not there, and I cannot ask again ?
<0> thanks Paco-Paco, that part is ok now :)
<0> brb
<7> deryni, ok now it has compiled again...first example: "Unerreichbar" sets the status to "Occupied" which means "Beschftigt" in german (the correct translation is used in the user details but not in the away-message system)
<7> "Abwesend (erweitert)" sets the status to "DND" which is correctly translated "Nicht stren" (again correct in the user details) "Abwesend (erweitert)" should actually be the "N/A" status)
<3> so, what do the translations used mean?
<3> like, is Unerreichbar something *other* than Occupied?
<7> and the status "Mobil" sets the status again to "DND" where "Mobil" isn't even a valid ICQ status and there you have your missing N/A status...cause two status link both to DND
<6> Which list of statuses are you looking at here?
<6> There are a bunch of them and they list slightly different statuses.
<7> wait, I start gaim in english to get the correct menu-titles
<7> eeeh...how do I tell gaim to use another LANG variable than the system-variable?
<6> LANG=FOO gaim in bash
<7> LANG=en_US.utf8 gaim
<7> still starts a german gaim session
<3> from a shell prompt?
<7> jep
<3> ahh you may not have that locale available, hmm
<3> try LANG=C gaim
<7> locale -a gives me en_US and en_US.utf8
<3> but make sure that allows you to input schloss (is that what it's called) and umlaut and stuff
<0> msn not connecting compiling with gnutls :(
<3> what is that double-S called?
<7> you mean?
<1> Paco-Paco: "Capital B"
<8> Eszett
<9> scharfes s
<3> ahh sharp S
<3> that's right
<3> yeah,
<6> I've never gotten LANG=xxx gaim to actually change language since we went to intltool myself, but I only tried once or twice.
<3> oh, that's not good at all
<7> anyway, N/A status is still missing :)
<6> Yeah, I noticed that we don't list the right ICQ statuses in the per-account substatus thing. I wonder why.
<6> Anyway, I'm going home, back later.
<7> change the name "Mobil" to "Nicht stren" and link "Abwesend (erweitert)" to "N/A" and everything should be finde
<6> Write a translation patch and/or talk to Bjoern (I think he does the German translation).
<7> hmm...will have to talk to him, cause I don't know how to write patches
<7> but the N/A bug is no translation bug, as it seems
<7> I am sure you are asked this several times a day, but how long do we have to wait for the next release (approx.)
<3> we don't know
<7> :)
<7> ok
<7> one last suggestion: maybe include an option to manually switch languages for gaim? I would like to use the english version
<3> we shouldn't need any such optoin
<3> gettext is supposed to take care of it for us
<3> if you run 'LANG=en_US.utf8 locale', what does LC_MESSAGES say?
<3> or what about 'LANG=en_US.utf8 LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 gaim' ?
<7> nope, still german
<7> Paco-Paco, only change: spellchecker is marking every word as wrong
<3> interesting
<3> what about 'LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 gaim' ?
<7> still german interface
<3> mysterious
<3> I wonder how I install a new locale on debian
<7> is it possible that this is defined during compilation and can't be switched afterwards?
<3> no
<10> u only got 1 installation on ya computer?
<7> hm?
<10> nm, realised what i said not really apply once reading further up
<10> :)
<9> Paco-Paco: dpkg-reconfigure locales
<3> mrzero: that generates the locales, but how do I (correctly) tell it which to generate?
<3> I can stick de in /var/lib/locales/supported, but is that right?
<9> a get a list of locales i can select to get them generated
<9> I
<3> hmm, it just regenerated locales here
<7> great, now I got banned from icq networt because of reconnecting too fast
<7> network
<9> Paco-Paco: hmm.. edit /etc/locale.gen and then run locale-gen?
<7> ok, everything is against me now...I go to bed....I'll be back tomorrow, good night guys
<3> mrzero: yeah, I looked at that ... but I have no /etc/locale.gen :-P
<3> I have this /var/lib/locales/supported thing
<9> that's strange :P
