<0> hehe, it's a newt
<0> ubuntu is turning into a newt
<1> I wonder why they don't just stick with "distro %d" namings, it's much easier
<0> word
<2> tradition, debian always had it, ubuntu thought they have to do it too
<2> btw, where do you see a newt?
<0> in the dictionary, when I looked up eft
<2> oh
<2> actually i only saw the dapper thing
<2> http://www.ayuka.fr/ :D
<3> hwo can i remove the clock that is in the "whatever-it-is-called-where-the-opened-programs-can-be-shown"
<3> how*
<0> session.screen0.toolbar.tools
<3> ty
<1> I can't test this, but can one also have session.screen1.toolbar.tools, meaning you can have different decorations for different heads?
<0> yes, for a suitable definition of head

<0> and you can test it: startx -- :1
<0> oh, wait, no; that's display
<0> yeah, I guess it is for non-xinerama heads
<4> hey, where can I find documentation on the new way of setting a background from a style?
<4> all my old styles use rootCommand
<0> ,bg wiki
<5> having trouble with setting the background or getting transparency to work? check this out: http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Howto_set_the_background
<4> thanks
<4> nice bot btw
<0> well, izhirahider, you could use Xnest 8)
<1> _markt: right
<6> Hi all
<7> ,paste
<5> if it's less then four lines it's ok. For more, use one of these pages: http://rafb.net/paste/ http://fluxbox.pastebin.ca/ http://www.nomorepasting.com/paste.php http://cpp.sf.net
<7> when i start X i just get white xterm without anything and when i write 'fluxbox&' there it gives http://rafb.net/paste/results/SxKIbk61.html
<7> how do i fix this?
<0> those are normal
<0> it happens the first time you run fluxbox
<8> btw: happy August 1st, everybody
<0> poland?
<8> :(
<8> [+]
<6> have someone hack the right click function ? :)
<0> yeah, you'd better not right click again, or I could steal all of your p***words
<6> damn... really ?
<0> quite
<6> ...anyway, I'm trying to find out how to change the right click... any ideas ?
<0> change the source
<6> I whant to have the list of minimalized windows there
<6> yea, easy to say
<0> easy to do
<0> two characters in the code
<6> what lines?
<6> :]
<0> one to change the workspace menu to show up on button 3 and another to change the root menu to something else
<6> it is workspaces on right-click
<6> by default
<0> fluxbox.cc lines 940 and 943 in current svn
<6> thanks
<6> m:]
<6> _markt: I've download the 1.0rc2 and src/fluxbox.cc have only 853 lines :/
<0> that's unlikely
<0> besides, I did say current svn
<0> fluxbox.cc has changed a bit since 1.0rc2
<0> but it now has 1865 lines; there's no way it's changed that much
<6> it's subversion
<6> from the main page
<0> dude, you're doing something wrong
<0> 1.0rc2 is not svn, and fluxbox.cc has ~1800 lines
<7> _markt, it comes all the time :/
<0> fgeek: hmmm?
<7> how do i start fluxbox normaly without writing it to that white window?
<6> ok, can you send me your package ?
<0> Husio: no
<0> ,svn
<5> checkout: svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/fluxbox/trunk fluxbox && cd fluxbox && ./autogen.sh ... to update: cd fluxbox && svn update
<0> fgeek: if it always happens, then your ~/.fluxbox/init isn't writable
<0> and you can start fluxbox directly from the command line by running startx `which startfluxbox`
<7> what mod i should chane it with chmod (if that is correct way to deal with this matter)?
<7> -rw-r--r-- 1 fgeek fgeek 3492 2006-07-30 03:07 .fluxbox/init
<7> it should be ok

<6> ok, I have svn version now, but still - 865 lines
<8> uhm, any chance that override redirect window (or whatevers fault it is that amaroKs OSD does not work as it should) will be supported in fluxbox 1.0 or something?
<0> NetFox: it's on my list; but no, there's no chance that override redirect will be supported in any version of fluxbox ever
<0> the entire meaning of override redirect is that the window manager doesn't touch it
<8> right.
<8> I don't care about the meaning, I just want that OSD working :)
<0> before I get looking at it, what is it supposed to do?
<8> stay on top (if you are talking about the OSD)
<0> ok, that should be easy
<8> however, as soon as an app opens a kinda popup window (example: server list of Xchat) it stays behind other Windows until the next amaroK restart
<0> you want to do an xprop on it and paste the result for me?
<8> no problem, wait a sec
<8> uhm... xprop...
<8> need to install that first... wait a minute :)
<0> well, it'll take a lot less time for you to install xprop than it will for me to install amarok
<0> Total size of downloads: 44,575 kB
<8> of course
<0> and all of that needs to be compiled, of course
<8> 90kb for xprop
<8> which also needs to be compiled, thats what it does right now
<0> xprop is a few thousand lines; I've read through the source myself 8)
<8> yes, I got it, now I am looking for a good pastebin
<8> http://www.nomorepasting.com/paste.php?pasteID=66065
<7> _markt, is that command same as startfluxbox? :)
<0> fgeek: no
<0> it starts an X server and runs startfluxbox in it
<7> so i really need to start fluxbox like that everytime?
<7> and how do i get rid of that white window?
<0> man, I have no idea what you're talking about
<8> _markt: do you need any additional Informations? I once had the snipplet of c++ code which creates the OSD, if that helps
<0> no, I can see the problem
<0> I'll fix it in svn in the next few days
<8> all right, I'll test it next weekend, when I am back from war
<8> thanks a lot
<9> I'm not sure this is a question for you guys, but its related to fluxbox...
<9> Basically, I have a PDA, and I run OpenZaurus with Fluxbox as the window manger on it
<0> heh, window manger
<9> It works pretty good, but there is one thing that's odd
<9> My PDA has a folding screen, meaning that it can be clamshell form and then regular PDA form (more vertical shape)
<0> ,enter
<5> try to hit enter when you finish typing your question. When you hit enter a dozen times before you have finished asking your question it makes it hard to follow.
<9> ok
<9> OpenZaurus on my PDA detects when the screen folds down and sends a single to redraw the screen with a rotation 90 degrees to the left. Fluxbox receives this signal and does successfully rotation, HOWEVER the screen size has changed because of the orientation and fluxbox does not redraw its windows to work with the new window size. I do not know where to start trouble shooting this problem, but I am hoping you guys can help...
<0> I don't think fluxbox can do anything about that
<9> Hmm... do you understand what I am describing?
<0> yes
<0> hmmm, maybe fluxbox gets a PropertyNotify on the root window...
<9> Alright then allow me phrase the question a different way to make sure I understand that I am communicating what I want properly. When the screen resolution changes, can fluxbox be told to redraw its programs (at least the maximized windows) to reflect the new screen resolution?
<0> no
<9> bugger
<0> I'm not sure it's even possible
<9> I was unsure myself
<9> What were you refering to with the PropertyNotify thing?
<0> don't even think about it
<9> ok
<9> Well, I thought of a possible hack to get around this problem. Let me know what you think. I will have a second desktop setup that is running on the other screen resolution. On that desktop programs either be running syncronized with the regular resolution screen. When the screen resolution changes, it should just switch to the other desktop and the window sizes should be correct. Can you see any big errors with that idea?
<0> you can't run windows on both desktops
<9> Well damn...
<9> Is there any command that will window to resize itself?
<0> resize itself to what?
<0> ,keys
<5> ~/.fluxbox/init -> session.keyfile: ~/.fluxbox/keys | read the wiki at: http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Howto_edit_the_keys_file
<9> I want a command that will make a window resize itself against set of maximum dimension values.
<9> well thanks _markt, I appreciate the help as always. I will probably be back in a bit with more questions
<10> what's the menu entry for the fluxbox exit?
<0> [exit]
<0> lost your manual?
<10> kinda, I'm writing my own menu and the 'include fluxbox' includes/generates an entire menu
<0> ,newman
<5> for the latest fluxbox documentation please check http://tinyurl.com/lnu93
<10> it's down :P
<0> no, it just takes a long time
<0> ok, it's actually down
