<0> ImportError: libbz2.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
<1> sweetiepie: what program is giving that error?
<0> yum
<0> and rpm
<2> sweetiepie> http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libbzip2&submit=Search+...&system=&arch=
<0> bigboss - rpm and yum dont work
<2> sweetiepie> sience when?
<3> Hurm, ok ty AndyCap and AntonTakk. Too bad someone never developes a clear upgrade path to uninstall removed fct53 packages and re-install the correct packages :(
<0> since earlier 2day
<3> ohwell thanks!
<1> sweetiepie: I can recomment one possible fix, but it is a very ugly hack
<1> hrm
<2> sweetiepie> give me mail, I'll send it
<1> l-BigBoss: no, the problem is sweetiepie can't install packages cause an rpm dependancy ios missing
<1> s/ios/is

<2> AntonTakk> I guess not; "cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" is not dependency. the file is missing
<1> .....
<1> l-BigBoss: the missing file is part of bzip2-libs, which is a package the RPM depends on
<1> thus, the missing file is a dependancy of RPM
<4> how can that be?
<1> dunno
<1> who knows what people do to their linux boxen
<2> AntonTakk> but I thing it was deleted
<4> yeah this had to be an alteration
<1> f_newton: same as when some idiots to trying to "clean up" their C:\Windows directory
<1> "what? I needed those .dll files!?"
<5> my /var/log/messages gets filled with those messages: localhost pam_timestamp_check: pam_timestamp: `/' owner UID != 0
<5> any idea what kind of problem pamd has?
<1> sweetiepie: your options are quite limited
<6> somebody oughta update the topic: The requested URL /archives/fedora-devel-list/2006-February/msg00059.html:: was not found on this server.
<2> sweetiepie> I think that it can be repaired by copying the file
<6> or chanserv memo. whatever.
<1> l-BigBoss: you are probably right, at least temporarily
<1> l-BigBoss: the first step, however would be to install the package properly
<1> PsychoDad: ls -ld /
<4> lol
<5> AntonTakk: belongs to my main user, not root
<4> AntonTakk, the results are always the same.. reinstall fresh and dont mess under the hood untill you know what you have there
<2> AntonTakk> but you have to do first step to fix rpm, without it u can't fix dependecies
<1> PsychoDad: and why is that?
<7> l-BigBoss: So boot into rescue mode, that is what it's for
<5> AntonTakk: i don't think i chown'ed my / ... so, no idea
<1> PsychoDad: well, su - root and fix it
<1> f_newton: i'm considering making a small gui app that just has one big red button labeled "OMG I FUXT IT UP"
<2> plokta> the best solution is the simplest...
<1> l-BigBoss: not always
<1> i think the rescue cd would probably be the best bet too, since (i believe) it has it's own copy of rpm and such
<6> AntonTakk, give the fuxtupfixer app the HAL9000 eye
<6> AntonTakk, "I
<6> AndyCap, "I'm sorre, dave, i can't do anything"
<8> welp - this thing just isn't working out :-<
<6> anybody notice that gkrellm acts funny in fc5t3 under gnome but not kde? when you middle-click its left edge to "fold it", it jumps away from the left side of the screen. annoying
<1> zcat: i'd probably just have it download a minimal fedora live cd image loop mount it, bind mount a few things, and do some rpm magic
<2> sweetiepie> what solution do you choose ?
<0> BigBoss> http://rafb.net/paste/results/xDbgxV34.html
<0> take a read of that
<0> there the errors
<0> u see BigBoss?
<2> sweetiepie> you can try the rescue CD and --force install libbz2*rpm or copy the file to lib directory and then install intall libbz2*rpm
<0> i dont have the Install Disk handy
<0> its on a Live Server
<0> lol
<4> AntonTakk, yeah and link it to a command line reboot
<2> sweetiepie> then give me e-mail address and I send you the shared object
<0> admin@cliffordmapp.co.uk
<2> sweetiepie> w8 pls
<0> kk
<1> f_newton: yep
<2> sweetiepie> I'm sending... (slow upload)
<9> whats the latest version of mkinitrd and what package is it in ?
<7> sean33: in fc4, mkinitrd-4.2.15-1
<9> thanks
<8> networking q's. A doc I found said most hardware routers won't support dhcp options for netboot, my client doesn't seem to be able to open its file from the tftp server so (lacking another reason) I am ***uming my switch is the problem. What would be involved in setting up my server as a router also? it has 3 NIC, does that limit me to max 3 clients? does anyone know how to explain this stuff in small words?
<9> my yum cant find mkinitrd ?
<1> MrCraig: not without the risk of sounding like an arse

<2> sweetiepie> sent
<8> AntonTakk: I'm willing to take the risk :-)
<2> sweetiepie> don't forget to install libbzip2 rpm properly
<10> MrCraig, Intenet > Router PC IN , Router PC OUT > Switch, Clients > Switch
<9> "Could not find update match for mkinitrd" :(
<1> MrCraig: you start with enabeling ip forwarding, then use iptables to setup the rules to forward traffic
<2> sean33> I prefer to search rpm's manualy: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=mkinitrd&submit=Search+...
<1> l-BigBoss: you mean bzip2-libs ??
<1> sean33: rpm -q mkinitrd
<8> hmm
<9> mkinitrd-4.2.15-1 <- ok so maybe thats why there is no update :)
<1> yep :)
<9> i feel silly now
<1> think of it as a lesson
<1> :)
<2> AntonTakk> libbz2-devel contains this library, I don't know about else packages.
<1> l-BigBoss: er, what?
<9> still havent worked out why 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4smp will not boot dam frustrating
<1> l-BigBoss: yum says it lives in bzip2-libs, in the Base repo
<1> l-BigBoss: I think you have busted packages
<2> AntonTakk> I'm not an linux expert. My game need to run same shared object and people said that it's in libbzip2-devel ; It was before I started use the linux
<1> l-BigBoss: always ask these questions of yum instead of people
<2> AntonTakk> I don't like yum
<9> 2.6.10-1.771_FC2smp is working but tring the upgrade dies in the *** before it finish booting says " Starting udev: initializing hardware..." then stops
<1> l-BigBoss: and I don't like people, so ;)
<2> AntonTakk> that's because I use vanilla kernel
<1> l-BigBoss: compiling source on a package managed distro....i see
<9> i like chocolate kernel better
<1> er
<1> installing from source
<2> AntonTakk> it worx...
<2> AntonTakk> I like most the rpm --force --nodeps :)
<1> ....
<1> you really don't understand the concept of dependancies, do you?
<11> ^1$ is expression for 1, how do I do an expression for not 1
<12> hello, i just installed FC5 where can i find the package manager??
<11> ^!1$?
<13> when i plug in my usb drive , gnome doesnt mount it ..what do i do ?
<11> airmikey, have you made sure that necessary daemons are running?
<14> mount it manually
<14> do
<14> mkdir /mnt/pendrive
<1> eodcho1: yum
<14> then type:
<15> puneet_batura: how about you first trying to figure out if his gnome setup can be fixed
<1> airmikey: did you configure gnome to mount it automatically?
<14> mount it vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/pendrive
<2> AntonTakk> I understand it very well, and I use it. But it doesn't mean I like it. I like --force --nodeps... and sometimes I use --dark-force ;DDD
<14> its mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/pendrive
<12> antonTakk: where do i find "yum"
<13> AntonTakk: no dont know how
<14> if sda1 is u r usb physical device..
<1> eodcho1: a terminal :)
<1> eodcho1: install 'yumex' if you want a gui
<15> airmikey: when you plug in the usb drive.. does it show up in the "Computer" window?
<12> oh ok thank u!
<13> no
<12> its says missing destination file when i type "install yumex"
<8> re
<14> airmikey, have u tried what i told u... :)
<12> any ideas?
<15> airmikey: in a terminal run the command cat /proc/scsi/scsi with the device plugged in do you see the device listed in the output?
<13> jef: no its not there
<8> ok - I connected my dozie laptop to the private lan and tried to tftp a file, it timed out just like my netboot client does - I can however "tftp localhost" on the server. The only thing between the machines is the switch. - so anyone have any ideas what is wrong here? (last time I'll ask today I promise - getting tired now :)
<16> how do i play flac audio files with xmms?
<15> airmikey: okay... that suggests a problem at the kernel level.. which is going to be very difficult to fix
<15> airmikey: are you fully updated on that system? is this fc4?
<13> aww man
<16> i used yum to get xmms-flac but it still wont let me play them
<13> its 4 doing updates now
<14> |Jef|, cant he simply mount the usb drive.... :)
<15> airmikey: if the device isnt listed in /proc/scsi/scsi that pretty much means the the usb-storage driver isnt getting loaded.. and the kernel doesnt recognize the device as a storage device
