<0> sangretu: ok. <1> wish i could afford a power managed and cooled rach and some iu's thou <2> oasiao: But, I'm running x86_64 <1> rack* <3> cthulhu same here <4> The only reason I need to replace my server now (otherwise I'd not) is because it locks up now under high CPU load (probably from 6 years of overclocking). heh <1> s/iu/1u <2> oasiao: I noticed that Livna has fglrx kmods for i386 <0> sangretu: booting problem grub related? <1> gdb: nice <2> oasiao: I tried rebuilding from their srpms... no go either... <1> gdb: mine is under-cooled, proc hits 64C and locks up if I don't keep the cpu fan all the way up <4> AntonTakk: I can't transfer mutli-gigabyte files to it anymore, nor can I build some java projects I have. <5> _ibz: I don't think so. Here's the thing. It was booting fine this morning. Now suddenly after trying to get samba autorunning, it's acting funny. Hangs at sendmail, switches back to ... terminal 1? not sure.... <6> [root@localhost nvidia]# yum install kernel-smp-devel <6> Lol
<6> its installing :D <4> It's really a minor annoyance, but I hate forgetting when I'm at work, locking it up, and having to wait to get home to reset it. <5> _ibz: Anyway, I'll reboot again but don't expect it to work. <7> AntonTakk, http://www.plastk.net/ <--------- a gamers dream lol <1> oh yeah, i have the same problem at school sometimes <4> :-D <3> im kind of new to linux and havent used YUM where can i look for info on it <7> quake running on 24 monitors and 12 linux servers lol <2> oasiao: man yum <3> thanks <1> overshard: NICE <2> oasiao: np <5> There it goes again. Stuck at "starting sendmail".....switches back to terminal 1. What the HELL would cause that? <5> linux hates me. <8> sangretu, nah <5> nothing ever works <8> sangretu, whats your problem? <2> Anyone running evolution after upgrading from FC4 -> FC5? If so, is it using all the CPU, but niced? <8> sangretu, fc5? <1> sangretu: nah, it just smells your fear ;) <5> uh, 4 I think. <9> when i try and run k3b i get k3b: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libk3b.so.2: undefined symbol: _ZN10K3bVersion10setVersionERK7QString <9> DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-9706' to 'k3b' how do i burn an iso using cdrecord? <10> anyone use kbfx buttons ? <11> What package contains the kernel source ? <7> AntonTakk, if my wife would let me do it... i would have that same set upt... but she thinks i'm wasting to mcuh money the way it is <8> NeonLightning, i use gnomebaker from extras or nautilus cd burner <9> nautilus cd burner can do isos? <1> NeonLightning: don't, use growisofs -Z /dev/of-burner=file.iso <2> clem_yeats: Why do you want the source? <8> NeonLightning, if you open nautilus and right click on an iso -> burn to cd... it does it <8> NeonLightning, thats how i burned the fc5 install dvds :) <6> great........http://pastebin.com/622185 <9> hrm learn somthin new lol <1> er, dont use cdrecord that is, it's been really flaky lately (for me, anyways) <11> cthulu : to compile a wifi driver <12> clem_yeats, you only need the headers <11> ok <2> clem_yeats: Just get the headers them, kernel-devel <3> wow yum update was fast <5> _ibz: I have to control-alt-F7 to get the system to continue booting after it does that....by that time, it's sitting on sendmail client <1> overshard: hah <11> ok, thanks guys <5> ok....booted <7> do cdrecord -v --eject speed=16 device=cdrom *iso name* <8> NeonLightning, gnomebaker is nice aswell. <2> Has anyone run evolution on FC5 at all? <9> i tried yum install kernel-devel and it said nothin existed <8> cthulhu, works for me. <11> yes cthulhu <11> works fine <7> no.. i don't like evolution... i use my own webmail lol <2> x86_64? <3> i use evolution cthulhu <11> x86 <0> sangretu: can't help with sendmail issue.. <8> cthulhu, yup <5> _ibz: Samba is running...strange because I swear I tested this before...but maybe I checked before it was done booting (i.e. telnet services were up, samba was not).... <13> Hi, how do you get the service behind beagle to run <5> However, now I have a new problem ... the booting issue. <0> sangretu: telnet!! :-0
<13> it doesn't seem to be running... what's it called? <2> No problems with high cpu usage? like 99%? <5> ssh, whatever <5> it's all the same to me. <1> overshard: http://9xmedia.com/Pages-products/2000%20-%20Xwall.html <2> It's running fine, just chewing CPU <14> someone have the yum mirror of FreshRpms to p*** to me <15> use livna <5> "generic remote command-line interface"....who cares about the protocol? <15> always use the livna repo before any other .. having muliple repos enabled all the time is not smart and can junk up your system real quick <5> anyway... <7> AntonTakk, thts only 9 screens though lol i much rather have 24 <13> anyone here help with beagle, the search program? <0> sangretu: well telnet et al send p***words in cleartext... <7> AntonTakk, ohhh nm i see <14> someone ? <10> anyone know whre I can get kbfx ? <11> where are the kernels headers on the filesystem ? <11> in /usr/src <5> Why oh why is my boot process giving me grief now? I can presume, perhaps, that falling back to terminal 1 is a failsafe of some kind resulting from a service taking too long to start. But WHY is it taking so long to start? And even more importantly, why doesn't the boot process continue until I switch back to terminal 7? <11> ? <13> HOw do you get Beagle working. I've jsut installed it, but it won't return any results <1> hrm new kernel still not ready <5> _ibz: Yeah, I know. But this is all internal to my network anyway. Point is...I'm more concerned about getting the damned machine to be useful than I am about making it secure at this point. <13> anton: which kernel? <13> I have 2069 <7> When is the 2070 kernel going to be released? <7> when is the offical lol <1> mwright1night: the new one that is supposed to allow the nvidia driver to be built <0> sangretu: try removing sendmail from boot process, see if things are improved. <7> I have an unoffical 2074 kernel right now in my stuff <0> s/boot/start up/ <13> overshard: is the from testing? <1> mwright1night: I am holding off on the fc5 install untill the nvidia driver is available <5> _ibz: is that...a command or something? <7> mwright1night, not sure i got it from people.redhat.com <13> I need a new version of evolution, it crashes more than it runs <3> is mplayer sweet? <13> Has anyone here tried beagle? <0> sangretu: well, not exactly. it's a regular expression, used on irc to fix typos or changes to what was said in previous line..s/foo/bar/ replaces "foo" with "bar". <7> oasiao, mplayer is awesome <7> oasiao, plays everything it does <0> sangretu: doesn't actually do anything, but i was trying to say "start up" instead of "boot" process..but nevermind, sorry to confuse you.. <16> hi <5> _ibz: oh...would have caught that if I saw your previous message, heh <13> I need the beagle daemon <13> does anyone know how to start that <3> cool overshard <13> normally it's beagled <0> beagled? <6> brb <17> anyone got suspend to ram working on FC5? <5> _ibz: ok turned sendmail off using chkconfig (see, I *can* use things I learn) <13> maybe it's a second package -- one would think beagle would have beagled listed as a dep <17> when I turn on my laptop after a suspend, everything starts to work exvcept the graphics card <17> what should I do? <5> _ibz: Yes, it booted much faster this time without the glitch. Next question is....why did it happen to begin with and how do I fix it? (going to re-enable sendmail and reboot and see what happens) <2> gja: You could get an LED display. Modelling it after the Altair should give it that retro look.... <0> mwright1night: beagled <13> hmm it isn't listed in /etc/init.d <0> sangretu: probably not configured correctly - did you specify a domain name that it tries to resolve? <0> mwright1night: /usr/bin/beagled <13> I can't find anything with my beagle search <13> yuck, it's called beagledaemon.exe <13> eek sick <0> mwright1night: it's a mono app. <6> Now be jealous <6> http://pastebin.com/622206 <5> _ibz: I've never messed with sendmail. And the system has been booting fine until now. What I've done today is the first time anybody's messed with settings/configurations etc for about 2 weeks. I just reenabled sendmail and rebooted...the problem has returned. <13> anyway that aside... and my .NET distaste ignored <13> how do I get it working? <5> _ibz: First things first. Am I right to ***ume that switching to terminal 1 is an automatic response to a service taking too long to boot? <5> er, to start up? <0> mwright1night: try starting the search client, and then clicking on start service. i think that starts the beagled daemon (i.e beagled --bg)
