<0> dont pin that on the FC5 installation issues <0> dont what ? <1> hi all <2> we basically get a *just* sub enterprise quality OS with cutting edge technology, and we get to use it for free in exchange for testing it .... sounds like a good deal to me. <3> because fedora has been every changeing since fc1 <3> and you just said you havent gotten fc5 installed <4> i take offense to sub-enterprise quality. <4> you have to patch the crap out of MS products out of the box. <0> yes but I laid hands on fc4 <4> you have to patch RHEL out of the box <1> I made big mistake in shhd_config file so I cant access it. Put allowed users daniel, root and the comma is wrong. What can I do to recover it? <3> blame the only fc5 install issue you have described was an issue you created on your own <4> and yes, you have to patch fcx out of the box <2> Ditiris, well ... it's not *100%* stable until it's been out for a few months and revisions are made. <5> people, what soft are you using to read .djvu files? <0> forget about the FC5 install issue already
<2> Ditiris, okay, so then Fedora is enterprise level ... just like everything else ootb ;) <4> CrippsFX You can always use an older release and patch that and be perfectly stable. <0> I some how cannot connect "testing" with "stable" <6> Southern_Gentlem, yeah BLAME is putting the BLAME in the wrong places <3> blame if you have a question please ask it , if you just want keep talking jack crap leave <4> why's he upset anyway? who shat in his oatmeal? was it you Southern_Gentlem? <0> right <6> Ditiris, I don't have enought paper to write them down and ship them to you <7> I think yumex needs an option to "Try again" when a mirror fails... I am tired of reprocessing the queue everytime that happens. <7> Is yumex written in an interpreted language so I can try? <0> my question was: What exactly makes you consider using fedora, given the circumstances? <6> WHAT corcumstances? <3> blame and we have asked you what circumstances <7> It's free, and it has great cutting edge technology, and a great community? <8> i used it because i like it and since fc5 i got rid of winxp too <0> ok this could get a bit technical, disregard the circumstances part. <3> blame come on <6> Psybur, and is sponsored by the greatest succes in Linux history <9> wow, yumex slower then a granmother with a walker right now <10> blame: i choose fedora because someone paid me a nickel <7> Yeah, my downloads are coming in slow <6> Magic8Ball, you should have held out longer, I got $50 <3> lol <4> Bob-Laptop, lol <7> I bet Magic8Ball would eat a dime for a nickel :p <4> Psybur, lol <3> Psybur, i would <4> wait, my dime or your dime? <4> theoretically you could make 15 cents there <7> Hahaha <3> Ditiris, exactly <7> How well does a dime hold up against hydrochloric acid? <3> Psybur, it does <7> And then the trip through the duodenum? <7> You know what it's time for? /exec xmms ~/Desktop/B***Drive.m3u <7> :D <3> Psybur, shallow dime no more food drink lots of water and wait for the chink <7> Heh <0> Southern_Gentlem, you are using fedora because ? <4> hp's website is crazy, it keeps changing colors and it's freaking me out <7> blame, why are you NOT using fedora? <3> blame i am a long time rh user started out with rh 4, so i like the look and the feel of fedora, and i like this community of people <7> I started out with 8 D: <3> Psybur, but i am proable close to twice your age <7> Probably <1> hard question. can I recover ssh through ssh? <0> Southern_Gentlem, rh4 is not that "long time" ago <11> Southern_Gentlem, how young are you? <12> hi all <11> :) <3> Psybur, and how old are you <7> I started with 8, stuck with it until the free redhats were no more, then went with gentoo for a while <7> 16 <3> qroon jfk caused me <7> I really liked gentoo a lot, but I got sick of compiling everything all the time... <11> Southern_Gentlem, bwahahahaha <1> Psybur, and what is better. gentoo? redhat? <7> Well, if you can put up with compiling everything, gentoo kicks ***. <3> Psybur, i am more than twice your age <7> emerge was a great package manager <7> Wow, it's taking half an hour to download a 10 mb file
<6> blame, rh4 was released in 1996 <1> Bob-Laptop, I made big mistake in shhd_config file so I cant access it. Put allowed users daniel, root and the comma is wrong. What can I do to recover it? <7> Is yumex compiled, or is it a script? <3> it is a rpm <7> -_- <7> Uh, it was an rpm <7> It was unpacked, and it's goodies were unleashed on my hd <3> so it could be both <7> I am talking about the application <3> pyhon i think <13> so... glitz requires xorg-x11, which *was* in FC4, but is no longer a package in FC5... <7> Cool. <3> your slowness is the servers <13> what's the best way around that? <7> I guess python might be worth learning <13> anyone have any ideas? <13> I'm kind of hoping I don't have to repackage it myself :( <7> file /usr/bin/consolehelper <7> /usr/bin/consolehelper: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped <3> you do <7> Doesnt look very pythony to me <7> xD <7> yumex is a link to consolehelper <7> Does consolehelper then exec something else? D: <13> is this the right place to ask for help about this issue? <7> Yes, it is <3> ta_bu_shi_da_yu, fc5 has a new name structure <3> xorg-x11 still exist <7> Yeah, the new names bothers me a lot <13> Southern_Gentlem, not according to yum! <7> But the new names are shorter and more efficient <3> http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/5/i386/xorg-x11-server-Xdmx-1.0.1-9.i386.rpm <0> Psybur, I decline to use fedora for several reasons. For one it's rather unstable and the fact as I recall downloading 50 to 100mbs of updates every week. Then they started to put stuff that wasn't in major use still such as php5. I wouldn't put fedora on a major server. But most of all it's more mental reason actually. I feel used. I'm being their "lab rat" while they improve their $$$ products. But it's matter of how you accept it. Lets say I disli <0> ke being a lab rat and especially for someones money! <3> looks to me that is a xorg-x11 package <13> OK, but when I do an upgrade via yum -y upgrade it says that glitz needs xorg-x11 <13> yep, it is <7> fedora is more of a desktop though <13> however, yum is looking for xorg-x11 <7> I wouldnt put it on a server either <14> Psybur: it execs something in /etc/security/console.apps/, I think <3> blame, fedora isnt for a production server as per the project notes <13> well, I'm installing Oracle 9i on it <13> works OK so far <13> then again, this isn't in production <7> blame, are you familiar with the trickle down effect? D: <3> blame, are you an US citizen <7> We help redhat get money, and in turn Fedora gets better. <0> so that they can get more money.. <3> Psybur, and that money stays in the USA <7> So? It's not like they are cruel testers <7> We get a kick*** OS <7> For free <0> Southern_Gentlem, what is the relevance if I may ask? <7> And we arent subjected to anything <0> what is so "kick***" about fedora ? <10> blame: nothing <10> blame: absolutely nothing <13> uninstalling glitz via yum is not really an option <13> too many things rely on it <13> and glitz has not been repackaged for FC5 <7> Um, the fact that it works and has the latest technology? <7> :D <3> blame what other major linux distrubution whose home is in the US <13> does anyone know if it's going to be repackaged? <13> or... better yet, do they know what is the replacement package name for xorg-x11? <10> ta_bu_shi_da_yu: ? i missed what you are talking about <7> xorg-x11-server-Xdmx <7> Or something <7> xorg-x11-server <7> Just yum search it <13> Magic8Ball, when you run yum -y upgrade on an FC5 repository it complains that glitz needs xorg-x11 <13> however, xorg-x11 no longer exists <10> ta_bu_shi_da_yu: rpm -q glitz
