<0> eeyore- no decent machines perhaps ;-)
<1> Hello, anyone using ipw2200 (centrino) with ifplugd on debian etch ??
<2> pipeline: oh i misunderstood
<0> eeyore: perhaps on decent machines
<3> zealop: eh?
<4> pipeline: I live in an apartment. I don't care if the rack is in the kitchen. It was orignaly in the livingroom, but the fiance made me move it. Now the guys come over to CS and have to walk past it on their way to the fridge for beer.
<0> CS?

<5> I got a minor problem.. the debian install cd can not identify my cdrom.. I'm using the netinstall.. are there more drivers on the full cd ?
<6> Jeeves_Moss: you know ... it could be one of those buddies of yours dropped some beer in it ;-)
<7> Jeeves_Moss: I hope your kitchen doesn't get too steamy :)
<8> pipeline, ty
<6> Jeeves_Moss: "i hope he didn't see that"
<9> how to compare the speed of a centrino 1.7 Ghz and a more cl***ical 3 Ghz laptop ?
<6> bottom line ... kitchen + computer = not good bedfellows
<3> rudenstam: I'm not sure. The debian netinstall disc includes tons of network drivers; is there some reason you would need to install off the CD and not the network?
<3> Jeeves_Moss: Your rack systems will smell like grease forever :P
<0> I am going to guess CS is another lame game?
<3> eeyore-: I spill beer in my computer all the time. No harm, no foul.
<6> kitchen + computer + buddies + beer = not good
<4> eeyore-: if they did, they'd deal with me, and most of them are scared of me.
<10> how can I determine to which program a certain file belongs to?
<8> what's the difference between "suggested" and "recomened" packages?
<3> gilles: The centrino is probably significantly faster :p
<5> pipeline: not me isntalling really.. but I should be able to just ignore that error msg and continue ?
<9> pipeline: really?
<4> duble_c: naa, I know how to cook. 1-800-Dominos
<5> pipeline: or should I create some custom boot thingy ?
<3> rutski89: I think the latter is a stronger suggestion than the latter. It's possible to set debian to regard suggested and recommended packages as dependencies.
<3> rudenstam: Yeah, you can ignore it and continue, and just install everything from the network.
<3> gilles: Yeah, really.
<6> gilles: the centrino (Pentium M) has larger cache
<6> gilles: it (p-m) will likely beat the pants off a p-4 system
<8> pipeline, you said "the _latter_ is stronger than the _latter_", which latter do i replace with a former?
<3> gilles: The P4 has an extremely long pipeline. So it has three times as many clock cycles, but gets 1/3rd as much done in a single clock cycle. :P
<5> pipeline: but I get this error before the network is set up I belive

<11> dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:191: process_queue: ***ertion `dependtry <= 4' failed <= I always get this after I run some apt-get command
<3> rutski89: latter stronger former
<7> Jeeves_Moss: I just got married, no need for dominos. (she'd better not see this though ;)
<3> rudenstam: That's OK. It'll keep going, I think.
<5> pipeline: right in the beginning when it's looking for hardware
<8> Piggy, hehe, ty
<8> **pipeline
<3> rudenstam: Or does it want to load network drivers off the CD? That could be an issue.
<6> gilles: clock speed doesn't matter much. intel could have designed a system with 10GHz for example ...
<12> Hello
<4> eeyore-: naa, my buddies are all good about the rack. If I have parties here, @ least one of them gaurds the rack so no dumb ***es (or hott chicks) can frick with stuff. They know the rack is a "no fluid zone"
<8> pipeline, how do I make debian regard suggestions and recomendations?
<3> rutski89: don't remember. :|
<6> gilles: so basically the p-4 move its legs faster, but its legs are shorter than, say p-m. so eventhough the p-m move its legs slower, it's got longer strides
<12> I was wondering if I could get some help for how to set a task to run at a specific time/date? A web site or better idea of what to google would even help.
<8> pipeline, ok; i'll look it up some time, ty
<0> cr3: man file
<9> eeyore-, pipeline: okay, I begin to understand... is there a wiki or a doc somewhere about all that ?
<13> guys i setup a firewall and its started but i was wondering how to stop it?
<0> cr3: where file is the command file
<4> duble_c: yea, mine can cook, but she dosen't live with my yet (shes still in school), so I'm still living the college batch life for a few more years. LOL
<3> gilles: Why would there have to be? Look at the SPEC benchmarks :P
<7> Jeeves_Moss: enjoy it while it lasts :)
<4> TonyRad: its called a CRON job bud.
<6> gilles: tomshardware.com, anandtech.com, etc.
<9> eeyore-: what does p-m means ? pentium-?
<6> gilles: pentium-m
<4> TonyRad: get a pen ready, the date/time formats are fun.. LOL
<9> pipeline: SPEC benchmarks ? How to look at that ?
<12> Alright
<0> TonyRad: man at the at command is ok for running things one time but cron is most common and quite useful
<4> all: any one have a hammer? I think this P4 box is going to be the reciver of my pent up rage tonight.
