<0> hello there. does anyone of you use debian with powerpc? im trying to install on ibook G4, trying various tutorials from the net, yet having problems
<1> Ts0p: you can /msg the bot directly ; type "/msg dpkg am i swapping" into your irc client
<2> stew, thats a point i didnt get so far do i need initrd or not and when do i ... kindof ;-)
<3> anyone know where I can get pentium 3 ram?
<4> stew: snd-pcm-oss <= shouldn't I replace that with some ALSA variant, since I'm running alsa? o.o
<5> as I said
<5> when I do telnet localhost auth
<5> it connects
<5> then disconnects really fast
<5> how do I get it to not disconnect
<1> Pascat: no, you want that. that makes /dev/dsp, the oss interface available even though you are using alsa. without it, many sound apps wont work
<6> stew: in my laptop i'm using irssi , i can't get priavt msg or anything i don't know how to set it up right
<7> stew: i am givin three options: native, autohinter or none?
<1> on1009: if you are compiling your own kernel you shouldn't need initrd, you just need to make sure that you compile the drivers needed to load your root (/) partition at boot time compiled directly into the kernel, not as modules
<3> does anyone know how I can check what type of RAM I have in my computer
<1> on1009: that includes your filesystem driver (ext3?) and your disk controller driver (an ide driver?)

<5> and how do I get ircd to listen on port 6666?
<4> stew: Ok!
<1> itguy: type "/msg dpkg hi" right into irssi
<4> stew: and how do I...start midi seq without rebooting?
<7> darkcmd, your bios?
<1> misha-strong: when in doubt, hit enter
<5> and I've rtfm
<7> stew: this is serious, its to do with anti-aliasing i think
<2> stew thanks i think .. yeah an idea is forming
<3> let me check
<3> hold on
<7> stew: it says Native for Bitstream Vera and MS true-type, Autohinter for other truetype, None for blurry text?
<1> Pascat: you already have sequencing support, since you ran modprobe snd-seq-midi ; if you want to actually seqence stuff, you need to run a sequencer program, i would recommend rosegarden4 as a sequencer
<7> stew: default is Native
<1> misha-strong: try native then
<4> stew: Ok! how about Timidity? o.o
<1> Pascat: that is a synth not a sequencer, Timidity is somehting that you could sequence with a sequencer, however
<1> Pascat: what version of debian are you running?
<7> stew: should i choose bitmapped fonts by default? (Yes/No) no is currently selected
<4> stew: Testing
<1> misha-strong: when in doubt, hit enter
<1> Pascat: i don't think rosegarden4 is available in testing you can grab 1.0 from unstable, or you can use my 1.2.3 debs from "deb http://vireo.org/debian/rosegarden4/ binary/" which should hopefully be uploaded to unstable soon
<5> can anyone help?
<6> what is going on
<6> stew: so line is all 0's
<6> stew: but still computer is slow as if i'm running 60000 mil softwares on the processor
<8> Naz_: repeat your question plz?
<5> ok
<9> Hello, i have a theoretical question. If you have this: VinXs:~# uptime . How do you call VinXs:~#? (like you call 'uptime' a command'
<5> I want to run my own ircd-ircu server
<5> I apt-getted ircd
<4> stew: what's rosegarden4 do exactly? o.o
<7> stew: no difference to the fonts O_o
<10> Peterken: the prompt?
<5> and I tryed connecting to it from a computer on the same router using its router ip
<5> it all works
<11> hi all, I just bought a microphone to record some stuff, but I can't get it to work - I tried all kinds of programs
<5> but it hangs at checking dentd
<5> identd*
<5> what should I do?
<11> maybe someone knows what I could check out
<5> I apt-getted nullidentd
<9> okey thanks SaneEnglishMonk
<8> Naz_: so install an identd?
<12> Norbert: alsa? then alsamixer
<5> I installed nullidentd cuz I don't care about what identd gives back
<5> but I'm stuck
<5> cuz it didn't change anything
<11> cahoot: I've used the alsamixer, but still nothing
<8> is the ident answer reaching the daemon?
<7> SteW: should I try dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig ?
<7> stew: (again)
<5> what should I do?
<11> cahoot: I should add that it is recording, but the sound is just way too low
<13> ext3 or reiserfs ?
<11> cahoot: hey, found it - never mind
<14> hi guys, can any of you help me debug a php script? http://ootput.pastebin.com/571986
<11> cahoot: there's a cool Mic Boost option in alsamixer, I didn't see it before
<5> how do I make ircd recognize nullidentd?
<13> !tell

<4> ootput: Don't think we do php here... try #php or something?
<13> !tell tulioanjos about ext3
<13> !tell tulioanjos about ricerfs
<13> !tell tulioanjos about reiserfs
<14> Pascat: oh, i ***umed #php would be dead ;) cheers
<6> ok someone help me fix this please....why is my computer running so slow
<7> !tell tulioanjos about reiserfs
<4> ootput: hehe

<17> nuxil: do you have more than one networkin interface (ifconfig)?

<20> nuxil: and it worked during the install?
