<5> woodland, my guess is that you didn't select your resolution correctly. it's easy to just press enter at the resolution selection screen when the resolution you want is selected, instead of selecting the resolutions you want with the spacebar and then press enter. enter just goes to the next screen, it doesn't select anything.

It's troublesome to me: Mode Changes don't happen, instead the video-games draw smaller windows, the keymaps don't work correctly, I can't change Virtual Terminals (Ctrl+Alt+Fx) inside an X-Server and the nvidia-driver installation was complicated. Are these known problems? My configuration is not very exceptional, i guess.
