<0> Klohunt: Sure
<1> gravity: is it called simply x?
<0> Klohunt: x-window-system
<2> Any idea on why my XkbLayout applying accents stopped working on x terminal emulators but not on gtk or the like apps?
<3> I wish I could figure out why nvidia 1.0-8756 doesn't want to work on linux 2.6.16 on x.org 7.0
<4> Klohunt: you do realise you can use aptitude from the command line, just like apt-get?
<2> gravity: any idea? :)
<1> liable_: yep
<0> damog: Install xkb-data and possibly update your paths (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg should do it)
<1> ok I see.
<3> Just keeps bombing saying nvidia doesn't exist even though it does. I've rebuilt the modules , did update-modules, rmmod/modprobe the module, etc...always says nvidia doesn't exist
<5> hi
<3> kernel module inserts cleanly, but x says it doesn't exist.
<5> how can I check if a file has been touched and when was its creation date ?
<6> floppyears: stat
<7> !tell floppyears about tripwire

<5> thanks dondelelcaro
<3> AAAAhhh!! I figured it out... gotta do a mv /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers
<3> well, that's three hours of my life I'll never get back.
<5> dondelelcaro: is there a way in which I can erase those records created by stat ?
<8> Hi all!
<6> floppyears: eh?
<8> I run out of space on my /usr partition and I tried to mount a shared nfs directory in that mountpoint instead
<6> floppyears: stat doesn't create anything. It reads what the filesystem says.
<5> dondelelcaro: is there a way to erase what the filesystem says ?
<9> can somebody explain me the lintian warnings in http://www.marioiseli.com/dpkgs/UploadQueue/emelfm2*
<8> The problem is that I can't get the executable files be executed (of course they have permissions to)
<8> I add "exec" to nfs partition too
<8> I add "exec" to nfs partition on fstab* too
<8> But got the same error
<8> Any good Samaritan?
<2> gravity: Didn't work. the thing here is: I have an special xkb layout, named us_laintl, I use it to be able to accent vowels using something like 'include "level3(rwin_switch)"', so I can use Apple key + ' + vowel to get an accented vowel or inverted question/exclamation mark. The layout is still working on gtk apps and the like, but refuse to do it on gnome-terminal or xterm.
<1> For some reason when I boot it says: X fatal server error: No screens found
<0> damog: Hrm, I don't know then
<0> Klohunt: Post your /var/log/XFree86.0.log in a pastebin please
<1> gravity: unfortunately I cant :(
<7> Klohunt: Use elinks
<0> Klohunt: Well, look in the log then for errors. They start with (EE)
<7> Klohunt: cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log|grep EE
<2> gravity: That's a mistery :)
<0> heh
<1> unstable: (EE): (No devices detected)
<8> (please :-\ )
<10> Why can't I chroot with the command "/usr/sbin/chroot ." I get this error: /usr/sbin/chroot: cannot run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory
<2> gravity: I think they have the same problem at #362408
<8> pilgrim, maybe you don't have a bash file in the path being chrooted
<8> s/a/the/
<10> dererk, no maybe about it, I don't have one, is it a must?
<8> pilgrim, to do what?
<8> Please, anyone who can give me a hand?
<10> dererk, to chroot to that directory (say /chroot) even if there is not /chroot/bin/bash?
<8> pilgrim, what I meant if you want to chroot an app, for example
<1> where is xfree86's conf file?
<8> Klohunt, /etc/X11
<11> hey, how can i remap my keyboard to dvorak, google isn't helping?
<12> how can i setup a linksys wireless card in debian ?
<8> squeaks, dpkg-reconfigure console-data, for TTy..
<8> Shin-Chan, start looking for driver support
<10> dererk, well, I want to chroot an app (apache2) but I get this error: /usr/sbin/chroot: cannot run command `/usr/sbin/apache2ctl': No such file or directory
<12> what kind of driver support do i need? just download the linksys driver .inf file?
<13> "linksys" doesn't mean much, linksys uses many different chipsets in their cards
<14> Klohunt, Go straight to the point: # dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and try some videos setups and you will get there!
<13> Shin-Chan2 what does lspci say the card is
<8> pilgrim, you have to copy all file shown by "ldd /path/of/the/binary" buddy
<12> err where can i find out about that ?
<8> Shin-Chan, .inf ???
<10> dererk, I did :'(
<8> Oh, you want it for ndiswrapper, right, Shin-Chan ?
<13> 'lspci', command
<12> yes
<12> but currently i'm still finding the ndiswrapper thing
<1> GaiaX11: thanks
<13> you should always check if there's a native driver for the card first :/
<12> cuz i'm new to linux and only used ndiswrapper once in knoppix mode
<8> Please, I'm in a hurry pals! Does anyone know how to solve my problem? :-(
<15> "2015, #debian : How i config X? It's just issue comand dpkg-reconfigure and ls and copy and move, and download, and install and you got it!"

<0> pe-de-moleque: Patches happily accepted
<8> jugglinx, que mal la estoy pasando :'(
<13> Shin-Chan2 ?
<12> yes ?
<13> what chipset is the wireless card
<14> pe-de-moleque, # dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
<15> Maybe in 2017 if i had time and will to learn :-)
<12> where can i find out ? lspci doesnt even show the details
<12> ahh wait found it
<13> I only want the name lspci shows
<12> Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306
<14> pe-de-moleque, are you a Portuguese speaker?
<13> heh, ouch
<13> ndiswrapper works nicely for that, though, I have one
<12> Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g wlan controller
<15> yes
<12> where's the ndiswrapper in debian?
<14> So. Go to #debian-br and you will find better help.
<13> apt-get install ndiswrapper-modules-yourkernel ndiswrapper-utils
<13> most likely
<16> Shin-Chan2: ndiswrapper is available via module-***istant
<12> i'm totally new to debian/linux and doesnt really know how it works
<12> actually i'm just trying to learn it
<13> I used ndiswrapper from source on the ndiswrapper site, personally
<8> I ***ume nobody knows how to solve my problem :-\
<17> hello
<12> so i go to applications > system tools >Terminal ?
<12> after that how do i use this ndiswrapper ?
<17> I've been trying to install debian on my computer for the past 3 days and it isnt working, any suggestions?(im kinda new at this)
<13> ndiswrapper -i driver.inf
<8> Kevin`
<13> when it's installed..
<8> I run out of space on my /usr partition and I tried to mount a shared nfs directory in that mountpoint instead
<8> The problem is that I can't get the executable files be executed (of course they have permissions to)
<8> I add "exec" to nfs partition on fstab* too, but got the same error
<13> i've never had that problem
<8> Kevin`, but do you have any idea how to solve it?
<12> it says ndiswrapper:command not found >_<
<13> are they the proper binaries for that system?
<8> Shin-Chan2, running it as root?
<18> dererk what are the /etc/exports options for the export on the nfs server
<8> Kevin`, ?
<8> shogunx, just "rw,async"
<13> dererk if you tried to mount the /usr from a different system I could see problems happening
<8> Kevin`, I've seen that several times before
<17> when i start up my computer, after it trys to boot from cd, and fails because there is no cd in, a whole bunch of 8s and 0s endlessly appear on my screen untill i shut it off, currently im using knoppix to troubleshoot
<8> Kevin`, I think I missing something
<12> oh god.. how do this work :(
<13> rw,async,no_root_squash you might try
<19> where can i get some free webhosting? 100MB?
<13> I could give you that if it's for a useful cause
<8> Halitherses, at a friend's house?
<8> Kevin`, how a good soul :)
<8> s/how/what/
<20> Halitherses: 127.0.0.1 is really free
<19> my isp blocks web servers, the bastards
<8> simonrvn, hahahaha
<17> does anyone know how to help me, I deleted windows and knoppix goes to slow for me,
<12> dererk, how do i run as root ?
<19> su
<8> Shin-Chan2, sudo command or just go for a "su -"
<13> su -
<13> so path gets set
<19> then type the root p***word
<8> Kevin`, no, that didn't solve it
<21> anyone know what tools I need to develop applications for the Treo 650?
<7> http://digg.com/technology/AOL_blocks_DearAol.com_emails
<21> (under linux of course :)
<21> I've been googling for that info and can't find anything
<22> anybody here using hurd?
<8> solid_liq, Hammer, maybe
<17> hello
