<0> oi
<1> liable, I'll give them a try.. having some problems with the newest wifi-radar trying and older version.. I seem to be getting some where with it.. if not I'll try the ones you mentioned
<2> hi all! I forgot the name of the configuration file that tells the machine to use a proxy server....
<3> tutos2 is a yucky package. remind me to file a bug report regarding a README.Debian for it
<3> Anybody managed to get its "admin" panel working? http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=325354
<4> tzafrir: dont forget to file a bug against tutos2 :)
<5> hi nenita21
<6> anyone heard of mindterm?
<2> how do I set up apt (or even everything on the system) to use a proxy-server?
<7> man apt.conf
<8> hi
<5> some on who speak spanish here? the #debian-es people don't help so much
<8> wdobco: why not english language?
<5> i'm not good with this
<5> i can wonder how to ask you:
<8> wdobco: good opportunity to learn it then :-)

<5> me pueden ayudar a configurar los dispositivos de mi board
<4> nein
<9> hi everybody
<8> wdobco: babelfish translates it to: "they can help me to form the devices of my board" ;)
<5> i have no time, it's 5:44 and i need to finish with this right now becouse i have to go to study
<2> jm_, no it's not in there. I am not trying to set up the system to use a proxy server. At work I set it up to use one and now I am trying to remove that and don't remember where I set it.
<7> RolandU: it is, read the file it points you at
<5> that's not what i'm saying
<5> the translators really don't help so much with the spanish
<8> wdobco: having no time is the worsest thing if you have to ask questions. Maybe you should call a professional support?
<7> RolandU: it also honours http_proxy variable
<10> My hovercraft is full of eels.
<4> !confuse lunar
<11> Yes, how are your hamster yesterday, lunar? lederhosen of the people's republic of belarus with extra cream
<5> something like: Any one who can help me to finish configuring the system board on debian?
<8> wdobco: what do you want to have when you "configured your board" ?
<4> which board?
<5> i need audio
<5> i need the othe ethernet device working
<2> jm_, what can I set $http_proxy to to turn it off? just nothing ""?
<8> wdobco: apt-get install hotplug (and a recent kernel) doesnt work out?
<12> i need some help regarding a samba configuration... tho the people at #samba are somehow silenced...
<13> got 1.1 working.. weird
<14> !alsa one-liner
<11> methinks alsa one-liner is apt-get install alsa-base alsa-utils && alsaconf, or if you are running a 2.4 kernel ask me about <2.4 alsa one-liner>, or after its installed, run alsamixer and unmute the volume levels
<5> no
<4> alsaconf isnt a seperate package..
<4> doh..
<5> i already try alsa
<15> where is "percent" in xcalc?
<5> i'm running kernel 2.6.8-11-amd64-generic
<8> |yang|: [/] [1] [0] [0] [=]
<8> |yang|: and the like :)
<15> hmmm
<7> RolandU: unset it
<9> just a question i asked before... I'm trying to run btlaunchmany (bittorrent multi seeder/dowloader) as a daemon. Since it ouput everything to stdout, i wasn't able to use start-stop-daemon to start it and redirect its output to a file. I changed every call to print to a syslog call (it's written in python) in the source and configured syslog accordingly, is there a cleaner way to avoiding changing directly the source?
<8> |yang|: percentage is just a way to write decimal fractions
<15> TinoW: its not working properly
<8> |yang|: yes it is. You just do the math :-)
<2> jm_, thanks alot! it works now
<15> TinoW: i used to type 5000 x 20% =
<2> jm_, are variables permanent?
<15> TinoW: how do i do that ?
<10> damn... I startx &, my cholesterol-free desktop starts up just fine. then I CTRL+ALT+F1 to a TTY1 console.... do some stuff... then go back to F7/X and it's hosed. like frozen.
<8> |yang|: easier: 5000 * 0.2 =
<16> |yang|: 5000 20 / 100
<7> RolandU: permanent how?
<8> |yang|: or like I said before (and resiak)
<15> 5000 x (20 / 100)
<8> |yang|: back to school I'd say ;)
<16> |yang|: and are ***ociative, so the brackets are redundant
<2> jm_, still existing after reboot
<17> ootput: yip, check http://www.netsoc.tcd.ie/~bbrazil/matrix/mutt/conf/mailboxes_and_lists
<7> RolandU: well no, they're read from some startup file and set, so it's most likely you'll have it set again
<15> funny that it doesnt have percentage, every simple real calculator has it
<5> http://gpsis.utp.edu.co/~wdobco/lspciresult.txt
<5> i have Athlon 64bits processor over MSI K8N Neo3 MS-7135
<5> and EVGA with NVIDIA FX5500 chipset
<5> i need drivers for this thing
<8> wdobco: which kernel?

<5> the manual of the K8N say's it have NFORCE4 chipset's
<5> kernel 2.6.8-11-amd64-generic
<8> |yang|: sorry, but only stupids calculators have percentage button ;)
<8> |yang|: scientific calculators often dont have such a thing :)
<7> wdobco: try a newer kernel
<5> i already check around google, but don't see anithing real
<5> anything
<7> and make sure to run update-pciids
<5> it's supossed that i have the last one
<7> the latest kernel is 2.6.15, impossible
<4> is there a newer 64 one?
<5> mmm
<15> TinoW: well you are wrong about that...we used to do math in school with percentage function, so my school calculator has it on the = button, but you need to "shift" the function
<5> over 64?
<7> #debian-amd64 would know I guess
<5> and where i get it?
<5> k
<4> wdobco: you can always run 32bit debian.
<7> for nvidia you just need nvidia's drivers, kernel doesn't matter much
<7> ohh it does, you'll need AGP driver for it
<7> I never bothered with 64bit, I use 32bit on similar setup
<5> but the real problem for me is that i really want to work this 64 stuff
<4> wdobco: so ask in the 64 bit channel.
<18> hello, how can i change the default audio application in gnome?
<18> at the moment it's rythmbox, but i want xmms
<19> moi: right click on an audio file, -> "Open with..." I thin
<19> k
<18> azeem, i've a extended keyboard with some media buttons and stuff. so i if i click on media it opens up rythmbox.. i can change the default apps for mail browser and termnial, but nowhere something about the default music palyer :(
<19> that is something different then
<16> moi: Let me dig out the doc I found for this
<18> nice, thanks
<16> moi: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=27039 # Ubuntu-themed, but comparatively generic
<20> Hello, I'm looking for some person who can display help topics in gnome (debian testing). Thanks
<19> do you want to imply that you cannot?
<20> Right
<8> |yang|: not a good school then :(
<20> I'm referring to gnome help option, just above "About Gnome".
<20> (desktop menu)
<5> i need to compile a new kernel from kernel.org it's 2.6.15.4
<21> !wayc wdobco
<11> wdobco: Why are you compiling instead of using apt-get?
<5> but i really don't know how to do that :((
<7> then don't do it
<5> becouse is on gz
<19> gz?
<8> wdobco: and just using apt-get install linux-image-2.6.15 does not work?
<5> yes .gz2
<21> gzipped tarball probably
<5> aha
<4> wdobco: there are lots of docs on compiling kernels on the net. read some..
<5> :( ****, why this ****in **** has to be so hard!!!
<19> wdobco: please chill
<7> bwahaha
<22> Hi guys. Is there a possibility of getting backported udev packages for debian-sarge?
<23> Nigromante: I lost the complete gnome menu after the update from 2.10 to 2.12 in testing
<24> i'm using debian testing, i have a problem with snmpd, installed snmp and snmpd via apt-get and started /etc/init.d/snmpd but snmpd daemon dies in a few minutes. made it to log to a file and it prints nothing there when it dies. any idea?
<19> wdobco: you have not explained why you need a new kernel at all
<25> !be jetscreamer barbie
<11> It's HARD to say nothing!
<4> erm, nforce4 for 64?
<5> becouse the of my board
<19> wdobco: what kind of board?
<7> hett: snmpd has -D switch, try using it
<8> azeem: some blackboard .-)
<24> I will do that now:)
<19> TinoW: eh?
<5> MSI K8N Neo3 MS-7135
<26> priyank!
<5> Chipset nVIDIA nForce4-4X
<5> Socket-754
<27> jita !
<5> please take a look to http://gpsis.utp.edu.co/~wdobco/lspciresult.txt
<28> what isn't supported that you need a newer kernel for?
<24> wdobco, you could use pastebin.com :-)
