<0> abrotman: only went up to two :P <1> or was it 2048? <2> is that it? <0> DevilChaos: Nope. <3> pipeline, does it mean, if we encrypt anything, wether it is DES or RSA or MD5 or what other else, they are encrypted as bits form? <4> 2028 key i have <4> 48 <4> even <5> SimonRaven: :) <0> fwtest: MD5 isn't an encryption algorithm. It's a hash algo. <1> umm - usb optical mice, facr? <4> lol <3> i see, nevermind that <0> fwtest: I think you need a basic textbook on the subject. Let me dig around the internet for a second :| <6> liable: :) <7> what do you think of ATI r300 driver?
<3> thank you, that is nice <6> internets and intarwebs <8> ericw, I think you quoted the estimated number of atoms in the universe above (not galaxy). <4> ati drivers are good <9> pipeline: oh .. sorry .. i thought there was an extra 0 there <0> fwtest: http://www.ciphersbyritter.com/LEARNING.HTM <2> netscrollps/2 danielax ? theres a lot of writing in the file hehe <4> nvidea is harder to configure for debian especially with the oneliner <10> soundray, just going by what applied cryptrography quoted :) <0> DevilChaos: Heh, nvidia "just works" if you use the module-***istant. <4> i couldnt get mine to work so i went back to ati <0> DevilChaos: You'll live to regret that one :P <1> facr: yes - you are looking. oh hang on - as root, run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg <4> maybe <9> !drxx <11> drxx is probably dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 [or xserver-xorg if you're using X.org] # Run it as root! if you have edited the XFree86 config files by hand or used a tool such as xf86config also ask me about <xmd5> <4> why? <1> keep all your existing choices, only check your mouse choices <1> !xmd5 <11> If you hand-edit your X configuration file, "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" will no longer work, which is bad. To see if this is the case, "md5sum /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 | diff -sq /var/lib/xfree86/XF86Config-4.md5sum -" - if the files differ, then it won't work. To fix this, "md5sum /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 > /var/lib/xfree86/XF86Config-4.md5sum" as root, then "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86", losing any manual changes you've made. <6> gtg <5> me too, laters.. <12> morning <13> Gnea: I've only got /lib/lvm-10/ and /lib/lvm-default/ <1> ah well - i'm in need of sleep <4> abrotman: was the xserver info for me? <2> danielax that package isnt installed <9> no <4> ok <1> dgpk-reconfigure xsever-xfree86 <1> then <4> gatos gatos gatos i live in a flatos <9> ask #ati <2> ok, now what :D <9> i already said that <13> vgcreate -- ERROR -6 locking logical volume manager <13> vgcreate -- LVM not in kernel/loaded? <13> hm <4> oh ati <1> well ist should prompt you for mouse info. try a differnt driver <14> Hey guys I have just put 1gb ram in my debian box it used to have 512mb rebooted.. but i dont see no difference? DO i have to re-install / remake swap ? <2> nv = nvidea? <1> IMPS/2 is usually good <14> or should it just work straight away <1> try various ps/2 drivers <2> okay, thanks danielax :D <13> I'm running 2.6.15.1, where can I enable LVM in the kernel? <1> dusty--: you might not see any differnece untill you put it under load <4> thanks abrotman :) didnt know that channel would be on here <1> anyway , sleep -> /me <14> danielax, i am :) running vmware under gnome and few other apps and i so ne difference <9> DevilChaos: i told you 20 minutes ago <4> lol <4> sorry <4> didnt realise <1> dusty--: top is a good program to explain system usage to you <1> Mem: 418236k total, 386312k used, 31924k free, 35608k buffers, for example (my box) <1> sleep -> /me, again <15> !lvm_tutorial
<11> rumour has it, lvm_tutorial is ibmdevworks tutorial http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-lvm/, or http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-lvm2.html <14> Mem: 484564k total, 268760k used, 215804k free, 18604k buffers <14> whats that in mb's? <1> 1024kb=mb, so just ignore the last 3 digits and read it as a mb figure <16> how can I remote administrate a linux machine from my windowsxp desktop and run graphical programs like mozilla ? <1> acmoud: vnc <1> Run a server on linux, and a client on xp <1> Google is your friend <1> !google <11> well, google is a search engine owned by Google Inc. whose mission statement is to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." The largest search engine on the web, Google receives over 200 million queries each day through its various services. It's website can be found at http://www.google.com <17> acmoud: Also there's an XServer in Cygwin you can use <0> danielax: VNC ****s *** on UNIX. <16> yes, vnc ****s <0> acmoud: I would go with Xming <16> mmm <1> never heard of it... <1> oh well <0> acmoud: It's the cygwin version of XFree86, only, without cygwin. <0> acmoud: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Xming <1> This is why we have 208 ppl answeing questions, not just me :) <0> It uses MinGW, hence the name "Xming" <1> I love the ! commands <1> !debian <11> methinks debian is http://www.debian.org. See http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/project-history/index.en.html#contents <0> danielax: We noticed. <1> !ubuntu <11> i guess ubuntu is not Debian. See http://www.ubuntulinux.org. IRC channel is #ubuntu (not here!) http://interviews.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=144934&cid=12136879 Ask me about <Based on Debian>, or Even Mark Shuttleworth says this is not Debian.. <18> danielax: feel free to love them in private (/msg dpkg foo) <16> xming will run fast firefox in my winxp desktop? <1> righito . sorry :) <19> just installed debian for the first time and im already loving it <19> but how do i change windowmanagers, there's no xwmconfig <0> acmoud: Not really. Nothing on heaven or earth could make firefox fast. <9> broomy: from what to what? <0> broomy: You edit your ~/.xsession or ~/.xinitrc, depending on how you started X in the first place. <16> ahahaha, thats true <19> okay, but in slackware there was something called xwmconfig <16> I tried to install dillo, but I couldnt manage it <0> broomy: If you used a display manager, you want to fool with ~/.xsession. If you didn't use a display manager, well, I don't want to touch that. xinit/startx are disgusting. <16> any other idea to browse remotelly the www in a gaphical way? <20> hello all <20> i am trying to use asp filter to setup my printer ... <10> acmoud, ?? what do you mean? <10> acmoud, you can use lynx or links... <20> i get Error: Could not load libomni.so when i try and print a testpage <20> how do i solve this ? <21> HUX8 <16> ericw what you didnt understand <10> acmoud, " any other idea to browse remotelly the www in a gaphical way" <16> lynx is NOT graphical <2> do you have to restart pc for changes to take effect when doing dpkg-reconfigure xserver <0> white: This channel is english-only, I'm afraid. <10> "remotely the www ?" <0> facr: You have to restart X. <10> acmoud, yes it is. <10> acmoud, lynx --dump isn't graphical <2> pipeline X ? <19> there is a lynx-graphical i think <10> but regular lynx is graphical. <9> real dorks use telnet to surf the web! <16> mmm <2> hah <10> ncurses is graphics. <0> acmoud: The easiest way to forward X11 is to enable X11 forwarding in /etc/ssh/sshd_config, then SIGHUP sshd. <16> how do I start lynx ? <19> lynx google.com for example <10> type lynx <0> acmoud: Then you can just start your X server on the windows machine, then do "ssh -X" into the linux thing and run X programs normally. <10> acmoud, links is a *lot* better though <22> Hi all... Maybe someone can help me out with this very strange thing I'm having here. Upgraded from old mobo and intel, to nforce4 with AMD64. Just plugged the old os hd in, and it worked. Now I want to recompile, for AMD64 optimization and highmem limit. However, _every_ kernel I compile gives me strange behaviour with hd's. <22> Mdadm for example says: no devices found for /dev/md2. But they are recognized by the kernel, and working! If I manually ***emble the array, it starts. Furthermore, I get strange behaviour in /var. Some directories there aren't writable anymore. It's not mounted readonly, because in the root of /var, I can create files. <0> facr: X is the window system. The thing with the graphics, and the mouse. <10> specifically "links2" package in debian <0> UltraSub: Uh, I would run away from that with my tail between my legs.
