<0> converting the bin/cue to iso
<1> simonrvn, ok Im trying to emulate suse 10.2 in my Debian Testing, but Its seems like you dont mind people learn
<1> simonrvn, so ****YOU
<0> right. and i'm the pope of the rcc
<2> Green-x: please go away
<1> abrotman, why?
<3> Green-x: sorry I tried to be subtle
<2> because you're asking for key codes .. so far you haven't asked a single question related to debian
<3> Green-x: you didn't get it
<1> abrotman, I try to emulate Suse in my Debian
<0> *plonk*
<4> thanks simonrvn
<1> abrotman, so I need parallels to emulate under debian!
<0> np
<3> Green-x: then buy it

<3> Green-x: or do without
<2> Green-x: is parallels in Debian?
<1> SpyderMan, yes in debian
<2> !info parallels etch
<2> !+info parallels etch
<5> Package 'parallels' does not exist.
<0> Green-x: oh, and fyi, i did not once call you names or tell you off.
<3> they have a trial dl .deb
<3> it is not in debian
<3> you can try it for 30 days I believe - more than that PAY FOR IT
<2> it's still NOT IN Debian
<3> abrotman: no
<3> abrotman: not at all
<1> SpyderMan, ok, thanks anyway, but a good friend in the red-hat channel send me th serial number
<2> good .. go use RH
<6> I just downloaded some src code, and it seems I can't run ./configure.
<2> why not?
<6> bash: ./configure: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
<6> abrotman: also did sh ./configure
<3> Green-x: pleased for you. If only cos you'll stop asking here.
<6> sh configure
<7> ledestin: is the filesystem you are doing it on allowing exec?
<7> Led_Zeppelin too
<2> yay!
<0> finally
<7> :-D
<6> dimir: hmm, could be
<6> brb
<2> why doesn't he irc from linux?
<7> ye, that's strange.
<7> Or could be he can't do it without the favourite mircrap client.
<8> hm
<9> or what he's trying to configure is network related
<7> Requiring no network at build time? :-D
<10> how do i use a set bitchx to use a proxy in debian
<7> Eh?
<2> !best irc client
<5> i heard irssi-text is probably the best IRC client
<2> None4uman: a proxy for what?
<10> connect using proxy for server - so i can connect from campus
<7> None4uman: and what kind of proxy? SOCKS?
<10> yea 4
<7> None4uman: there is a wrapper called tsocks
<10> aw there isnt a way to set it in the settings
<10> ?
<7> None4uman: don't know that.
<10> ok lol
<7> None4uman: not that I can remember.
<2> there is a very small #bitchx
<7> ye, really small. :-)
<11> i converted from bitchx to irssi-text :) very very nice
<10> daeos: how do i use a proxy with irssi-text then
<7> None4uman: tsocks is really simple. You install it, set in it's config just 2 things, SOCKS server and port, and then run your application like this: tsocks BitchX <BitchX options>
<10> ok ima try that
<10> i installed it, how do i edit the options for tsocks
<7> Edit /etc/tsocks.conf
<12> when I type startx it says "creating new authority".. sits there then gives up? any ideas?
<7> xauth is in your PATH?
<13> i just installed mysql-server on sarge and 3 or 4 seconds after it starts the computer reboots or hangs... if X is up the computer rebootx and if not, the computer hangs... i probed mysql 4.0 from sarge r0a, 4.0 from sarge r1, 4.1 from sarge r0a and 4.1 from sarge r1 with the same results... ???
<12> it says xauth.. dunno if its my "path"

<7> UncleSkunk: which xauth
<7> UncleSkunk: returns full path?
<12> dimir: let me go back an check hangon ..
<12> ok returns something about /home/chris/.serverauth.#### and then some /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit.. saying connection refused and "no such process"
<10> when i change the default proxy IP, it wont let me connect giving me an error that tsocks is not on local subnet
<7> None4uman: ah, you will need to 'man tsocks.conf' if SOCKS server is not in the local subnet.
<10> ok
<7> UncleSkunk: command: which xauth <--- what returns?
<14> is there a forum for help with debian installs?
<14> for linux newbies preferably
<7> A lot.
<14> any suggestions? is this one of them?
<8> what you need dan
<12> dimir: /usr/bin/X11/xauth
<8> im prolly as good as you
<7> UncleSkunk: that's fine.
<7> Dan: google.com/search?q=install debian forum
<8> dan register then pm me
<14> trying to install debian for first time (over ftp)
<14> install gets done
<14> but cant "startx"
<14> after install, i get to prompt
<8> what are you gonna use your system for?
<7> UncleSkunk: how do you run startx, locally, remotely?
<14> its an old laptop (toshiba portege)
<12> dimir: locally
<14> runs too slow on windows
<7> UncleSkunk: no fancy stuff?
<12> dimir: not that Im aware of
<8> cant help much dan, ive only used debian for server applications :S
<7> UncleSkunk: what happens if you try to run 'xinit'?
<14> i ran x86config
<14> dont know about xinit
<15> anyone using 'psad' jhere?
<15> -j
<13> i just installed mysql-server on sarge and 3 or 4 seconds after it starts the computer reboots or hangs... if X is up the computer rebootx and if not, the computer hangs... i probed mysql 4.0 from sarge r0a, 4.0 from sarge r1, 4.1 from sarge r0a and 4.1 from sarge r1 with the same results... ???
<7> pulga: sounds like a hardware problems.
<7> pulga: open the cover and make sure CPU fan is working and stuff.
<12> dimir: thinks awile then gives up.. saying connection refused unable to connect to server, and no such process server error
<16> pulga: with which kernel?
<14> odd thing is that my startx seems to crash at a part that is trying to detect the mouse???
<7> UncleSkunk: try 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg'
<7> oops
<14> most recent debian distro
<7> I ment dan.
<7> :-)
<2> check the X logs
<13> but, how to test it? its rare cause all other things run ok...
<13> kernel 2.4
<7> try 2.6
<14> tks dimir, wil try yr sugg
<7> np
<13> i was runing mysql ok a month before in another instalation...
<7> UncleSkunk: So do what abrotman suggests, check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log. BTW, if you run xinit by root all is well?
<15> is it safe to use 'alien' ?
<12> I'll go try root
<7> Does it sound so?
<7> :-P
<17> how can I knock out dependencies? I want to install w3m-el, since I have emacs-snapshot installed; but w3m-el depends on xemacs and ****, despite the fact that it runs perfectly on the snapshot, and the dev wot does it seems intent on sitting on the bug report. I know how to get apt-get to install a package from a aprticular release, but not how to modify dependencies. I once asked, and there was a program which created weird little
<17> dependcy modifiers, but that didn't work very well. is it advisable to perhaps look for a way to d/l the w3m-el .deb and have dpkg install it but forget about it?
<13> i'll try 2.6 to see if mysql has no problems with it but i have to use 2.4 because of sound drivers...
<2> they're called dependencies for a reason
<18> I have a fresh install of Debian, and I am currently attempting to make a new partition for organizational reasons out of UNALLOCATED space. But when I look at partition Magic I have a linux Ext2 partition that I didnt make, that I dont see mounted anywhere and it is 100% used. why? can I delete this?
<19> whenever I wanna ask something here, the thought of "why bother them, why not google first?" always came into my mind :D
<12> dimir: as root when I run xinit it says something along the lines of "warning process set to priority -11 instead of requested priority -10"
<7> UncleSkunk: but does X start?
<7> UncleSkunk: What the hell did you do to your system? :-D
<7> wmhtet: Correct! :-)
<12> dimir: good question and not it dost start as root
<7> UncleSkunk: You are sure have the X server there, aren't you? :-D
<7> s/sure have/sure you have/
<19> heh
<20> Fetal: why not mount the partition and look what is on it?
