Have you asked in #ubuntu? <1> asg, yes, they ignore me though <3> i just did a dist-upgrade on ubuntu and at the end it had one error, that libxml2utils wasn't intsalled because connection reset by peer. i did apt-get update, upgrade, and dist-upgrade all again, but it keeps acting like there's nothing to upgrade.
<3> should i worry about that? <2> zephyrus: does the control channel work but not actually transfer data (i.e., you can login but not get data) <0> i can login locally, but not threw wan <4> Im using Unstable is there a way to upgrade my current version of xserver-xorg from 7.0.20 to 7.0.99 because the fglrx-driver wants .99 <5> sirius__: With a bit of work, yeah <0> any idea asg? <5> sirius__: You'll have to do a lot of custom package updates since the 7.1 stuff hasn't been packaged in Debian yet <4> gravity: well i need to install the fglrx driver <2> zephyrus: can you telnet <ip> 21 from a wan system and get the ftp banner? <4> gravity: you know where i can get a version of fglrx for .20 then ? <5> sirius__: No, sorry <2> gavagai: what does 'dpkg -l | grep libxml2utils' print? <5> God... I need to change that versioning scheme. It's driving me nuts <2> gravity: I'd switch to flavors <6> where is php5 installed? on sarge using the dotdeb package <6> i need to find the executable php binary <2> Gimp_: in /usr/bin <2> Gimp_: or dotdeb are a bunch of morons <7> Gimp_: #which php <2> Gimp_: dpkg -L <pkg> (to be sure) <6> Gimp_: php5. <5> Talking to yourself is a sure sign of madness :-) <5> gravity: Right? <6> whoo <6> im smart. <2> asg: asg roit! <8> anyone know how to get the MTU setting to stick on reboot? <6> ah i found it, ill just install php5-cli <2> roe_: man 5 interfaces <9> does uw-imapd supports maildir? <2> magyar: you are much better off using courier-imap, dovecot, or binc <9> asg: thank you <2> magyar: you're welcome <4> When trying to install the fglrx-driver it tells me i need the newest version of x.org 7.0.99 i got 7.0.20 i wont be able to upgrade how or where can i still install this ? im running unstable <8> will setting the mtu size statically on a dhcp cause problems <2> roe_: the mtu has nothing to do with how you get your IP. However, depending on the type of upstream link, it may cause problems. <7> siruis_: with the ATI binary try something like: #X_VERION=x700 ./ati... --install <10> ola <2> !br <11> Esse canal e apenas em ingles. Por favor, use #debian-br (/j #debian-br) para ajuda em portugues. <8> asg, while its very possible I am not reading the man page properly, but it ain't happy with a dynamic setting and a static mtu <2> roe_: do you usually set it manually after the interface has come up? <2> roe_: if so, you could use an 'up /sbin/ifconfig ..' stanza to achieve the desired result. <8> well we just installed gig cards and trying to get the jumbo frames working, setting it through ifconfig works great but on reboot it reverts back to 1500 <12> roe_: maybe you're setting the mtu to something the interface can't actually handle <8> the mtu setting works great it just won't stick <13> Hello, I am trying to install Debian Sarge on a Gateway 7330 laptop with netinstall. On first reboot (when it goes to install all the stuff) it freezes on USB driver loading. Second and next reboots freeze on agpgart driver. I tried to boot with noagp and nousb but it didnt change anything <2> roe_: try using the 'up ...' stanza as mentioned in interfaces(5) to get ifconfig to do the right thing after the interface comes up. <2> Nicolas[VamUdeS]: does tuxmobile.org mention anything about your particular model and any workarounds? <8> so just put a script for ifconfig to "reset" it after boot <13> asg, I checked and there is a Ubuntu install <13> asg but nothing abnormal <13> asg actually, everything should be just perfect :( <2> roe_: in /etc/network/interfaces, after the dhcp definition, us 'up /sbin/ifconfig ...' to alter the mtu settings <9> which mildrop is common "maildrop" or "courier-maildrop"? <2> Nicolas[VamUdeS]: did you try using 'linux26' at the installer prompt to use a 2.6 kernel. If so, did you try using the 2.4 kernel? <14> how does one configure which printer documents are sent to using lpr? <13> asg, I got 2.6 kernel <13> asg, didnt try 2.4 <2> Nicolas[VamUdeS]: try it with a 2.4 then; the installer kernels can have issues in some cases. <2> Nicolas[VamUdeS]: you can always install a 2.6 kernel later if the 2.4 install kernel gets you up and running.

I have a Kodak EasyShare CD33, and I'm trying to import some pictures. I think the device will work as a generic PTP device (I'm not quite too sure what that means). I think I have the latest version of gphoto2. <14> should i use cups or lprng for printing? <23> The device used to show up when I used a debian build, but I still couldn't actually download the photos because an error would prevent me. Therefore, I decided to compile the newer version, and now I can't even pick up the device at all. <23> I'm running version 2.1.99 of gphoto2, 2.1.99 of libgphoto2, and libgphoto2_port 0.5.2 <23> Hi, I'm having some trouble with gphoto2 with the Kodak EasyShare CD33 camera. I was trying to import some pictures, and I think I read somewhere that the device was PTP (I'm not quite too sure what that means). I have the latest version of gphoto2 (2.1.99), libgphoto2 (2.1.99), and libgphoto2_port (0.5.2) <23> I first used the debian build and I was able to detect the device as nothing more than a generic PTP device, but I couldn't actually download the files. When I compiled the newer version, I can no longer find the device at all. I keep pressing the button "Share" but I don't think that's helping :). <24> anyanyone here ever use the "jailer" package (or balabit.hu/downloads/jailer ) and can explain what it does in some detail in English? <22> apperently nobody is here tonight <24> noperz <25> aaronlin: is it a camera thats supported? you cant access it as a usb storage device? <26> Hi, a friend of mine is moving from Mac OS X to Debian, and he has an external HDD and an iPod both with the HFS+ filesystem on them. Is there a package to install that would allow me to mount and read AND write to these devices? <27> HI, Is there any way to set the gnome-terminel window size in starting. <26> I'm specifically interested in writing to the HDD. Would I need to reformat it with ext3 or something in order to write to it? <25> lavi: cant resize it and then save settings? maybe ask in a gnome oriented channel <28> pinky: hfsplus? <26> Yes, the HFS+ filesystem <28> pinky: No, that's the package name. <22> how do you join a samba domain? <27> liable: I wanna set a default size for it. <26> Both the iPod and the HDD have it <28> pinky: Try hfsplus. <26> freeone3000: Oh! Well I'll go install it then! <27> liable: but i dont find anywhere can do it. <25> lavi: i dont actually have gnome, but i spose its in the menus somewhere, as i said, try a gnome channel <27> liable: k <26> Hmm, okay so what should I try now that I've installed the "hfsplus" package? <26> There's no documentation for it in /usr/share/doc/hfsplus/ <26> Just a changelog... <29> pinky: I've found apt-file is helpful. You can apt-get install apt-files, then apt-file update and apt-file show hfsplus will show all the files in it. You can then try to look up documentation on individual binaries. <29> Becaue apt-file hfsplus shows me that it installs manfiles for all these utilities in usr/share/man/man1/hp* <30> is there a way to speed up the gets of apt-get ? like download 3 pkg at a time ? <24> cam: like apt-get install [pkg1] [pkg2] [pkg3] ? <30> tonsofpcs, no, I mean, download 3 pkgs at the same time (not asking apt to install 3 pkgs in one command)
