<0> m0rbid, yes
<1> ty sir
<2> PerfDave, that was for the nvidia PCI card I tried, but the mainboard video was even worse
<3> btw, kde is asking me for a user/p*** for cups... i just installed cups... so... how do i setup a user to print? i guess?
<4> hax: Which Debian version of p***wd package is installed?
<5> There is also an easy filter for that posted by DaNET: /spamfilter add cpnNPqat block - Norton_Exploit (start|stop)keylogger
<0> hax, it's probably asking you for the root info so that you can admin it...iow, add printers, etc. but i dont use kde, so i couldnt tell you for sure
<3> sanxiyn: 4.0.14-7
<4> Same here.
<3> markybob: umm, well, i should probably just be able to add a cups admin... i don't think i want to give kde root
<3> sanxiyn: well, i'm very segfaulting
<4> hax: If you can reliably reproduce that, perhaps it's a good idea to report bug.
<3> sanxiyn: should i trace it or something?
<4> hax: Try strace.
<4> (I don't see similar bug in p***wd bug list.)
<6> haha, anyone try out the symantec thing?

<3> sanxiyn: strace breaks it
<2> symantec, wtf
<3> sanxiyn: i'll try gdb
<6> nevermind :P
<7> symantec? linux?
<7> o.O
<2> hehe
<2> my bad
<8> hi there i have samba running
<8> and i am on the linux client which is sharing a printer with the window 98 machine
<9> how can i see a full name from a "ms dos short name" ? i have asd~1.avi . can i see the full name?
<3> sanxiyn: i'm still not sure whats wrong, but i think its very significant
<8> i cannot see my printer but other things i can see i want to print
<3> sanxiyn: because i can enter as much data as i want into the buffer before it segfaults
<3> sanxiyn: and thats a bad sign
<8> what is the most possible thing which i am missing ?
<8> any help will be appreciated
<10> does anyone know a calculator that can handle extremely huge numbers?
<10> bigger than bc
<11> I just did an apt-get of phpmyadmin; what URL should this be located at? (Note, sarge)
<0> khanman, have you tried snac? i'm not sure how much it handles, though.
<12> am I going insane? find /blah -daystart -mmin +60 IS correct usage to get a list of entries modified more then an hour ago, no?
<13> ke6isf, are you an amateur radio operator?
<11> jariep1_: Yep.
<3> sanxiyn: i can't trace it, something is breaking it
<14> ke6isf, it will put the files in http://webserver.com/phpmyadmin/
<3> sanxiyn: p***wd: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info.
<3> sanxiyn: i think it has to do with setuid
<4> ke6isf: http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
<11> wireddd: 404.
<3> sanxiyn: because thats the part it breaks at
<10> ke6isf: awesome.. hi .. i'm ki4gfh :P
<11> khiloa: 73. =^^=
<10> hehe
<4> ke6isf: It's set up by /etc/apache[2]/conf.d/phpmyadmin.conf symlink.
<10> ke6isf: 88's ;)
<11> sanxiyn: Lemme double check that then.
<13> ke6isf, sorry 'bout that
<11> sanxiyn: I don't run a standard web install (my web tree is somewhere in /opt rather than /var/www/html), so that's probably causing the problem.
<11> jariep1_: No worries.
<14> ke6isf, does your webserver work?
<11> jariep1_: 73, btw.
<11> wireddd: Yes, it works.
<14> ke6isf, yeah the files go into /var/www/phpmyadmin
<11> wireddd: If it didn't work, I'd get a connection refused, rather than a 404.
<15> i think i'm going to need help installing my wireless pc card
<14> that would be your problem
<3> sanxiyn: i don't know, soemthing is very wrong here though
<15> i'm running stable on a very old laptop and i need to install a wireless pcmcia card that only has a testing package
<0> yawg, please tell us you researched first and found which were compatible and bought one of those
<11> wireddd, sanxiyn: symlink to the main tree did it, thanks.
<15> oh it's compatable
<15> but
<15> it's testing
<15> and i'm on stable
<11> !tell yawg -about enter
<15> and i'd rather not upgrade the whole syste to testing for this one package
<16> yawg: couldn't you just d/l the package and install it individually?
<15> sorry, force of habit from slower channels
<15> knite: tried that
<3> sanxiyn: ehh, screw it, i'm just going to pretend like this setuid root program isnt segfaulting as my user

<3> sanxiyn: we'll all be happier that way ;)
<15> it depends an the testing libc6 package
<16> yawg: too many dependencies would get dragged?
<14> yeah pretty much everything would get dragged
<12> ARGH
<12> got it
<15> will i need to upgrade to testing then?
<15> for my whole system?
<14> unless it is backported
<16> yawg: what you might do is build a staticly linked version of it...
<16> yawg: basically backport it
<15> how should i go about doing that
<15> i followed the instructions on backports.org
<15> and i ran into errors
<16> yawg: when/where?
<15> yesterday
<15> oh, heh
<17> lol note to self...never use the -y option on a lagged ssh connection for a package that later turns out to be broken and removes gnome... :|
<18> i am running the command sleep 4m&, how do i store that PID? i am doing this in a script
<19> I'm currently running XP home but want to get Debian up and running. I've read all teh manuals - but can someone simplify them? I've downloaded sarge, but i dont know which files to burn to the CD. And what after that?
<18> MyNickHere: you clearly didnt read all of them
<18> lying bitch
<16> deadcat: lol, not like anybody can possibly read ALL of them. :P
<18> MyNickHere: but get the netinstall business card iso. 43MB
<18> knite: they he shouldnt say "I've read all teh manuals"
<19> <16> : i try : )
<16> MyNickHere: which ISO did you download?
<19> i386
<16> MyNickHere: do you know how to burn an image to CD?
<19> <16>: i think so - ive got Nero something or other that ill use
<20> mynickhere: u do that
<20> bitch!!
<18> tamiya: yeep.
<18> you know better
<20> deadcat: fag
<18> calm down
<19> <20>: sorry im not as good on PC's as you, but im trying to learn
<13> ke6isf, let me ask you a question, i know a ham who is new to linux, so there's lots he needed to learn, he gave up after he found it complicated to install the radeon 9550 video card drivers... what distro do you recommend for a newbie?
<16> MyNickHere: do you have any other experince with linux?
<20> mynickhere: just joining in the fun mate, i know jack about pcs :)
<19> <16>: none at all : )
<11> jariep1_: Debian. Sarge, easily.
<19> i am planning to dual boot ho - so i can use the debian and linux.org guides to learn
<19> tho
<19> not ho
<19> my bad
<20> dualbooting is for wimps
<20> seriously
<20> get a new pc
<16> MyNickHere: wow, lots of aggressive folks on #debian today
<20> tight-arsed, bean counting pussies dualbooting is
<19> tamiya: if i had the $ id make one!
<18> thanks dondelelcaro
<18> i was gonna !op on his ***
<19> where are the .iso's?
<21> tamiya: if you don't have anything constructive to say, please don't say anything at all. I've timed you out for the next 10 minutes.
<11> !tell MyNickHere -about d-i
<16> MyNickHere: have you read about partitioning your drive?
<11> !beer dondelelcaro
<16> MyNickHere: or do you have a separate hard drive for linux?
<19> knite: yeah and i got PartitionMagic
<16> MyNickHere: so have you already set aside space for linux partition?
<13> ke6isf, I tried Debian for a while, and I love apt-get, helps lots compared to the run around with dependencies in RPM distros. Though Debian I found a bit technical at first, I tried Libranet and Ubuntu, which seem to be very user friendly Debian based distros
<19> knite: doin it right now - I know 2Gb is min for single user PC - but how much u think - ive got 160GB's
<22> !u mynickhere
<23> unstable question: where did all my gnome taskbars and galeon bookmarks go and how can I get them back?
<11> jariep1_: I think that Ubuntu is synced with Unstable, though. Can't speak for Libranet.
<11> !tell MyNickHere -about u
<11> GoAuLd: Not all the factoids will work with an argument.
<16> MyNickHere: shrugs.. 6GB?
<19> and will NTFS formatting be fine?
<16> MyNickHere: unless you want to install everything in the universe of debian... heh
