<0> Bigun: Alternatively position: absolute; left: 50%; margin-left: (-width/2);
<1> DRMacIver: Those are already set
<0> Bigun: Should work then...
<1> I thought computational arguements weren't allowed?
<0> Bigun: They're not.
<1> ....?
<0> Bigun: That wasn't the literal code you should use.
<1> Oh
<1> :P
<0> You set a fixed width and then manually plug in -width/2
<1> Gotcha
<2> i have a Q regarding the added margin in mozilla, the margin property set to 0 in my 'body' selector, any one can helP?
<1> Hrmm.... http://www.cybergrunge.com/test
<3> is there a way at the moment to do something like: min-height: 100% - 2px; ?
<0> Anyway, I'm going to have to stop paying attention to IRC for a bit.
<1> see ya DRMacIver

<0> I really should be working and I'm being distractable enough as it is.
<0> oxez: No. And yes, it's a pain.
<0> (Really going now)
<0> Ok. Not really, as I've just remembered something.
<0> Bigun: I think the right way to do it is actually fixing the margins and setting width to auto. Sorry.
<0> Being drain bead.
<0> (Really really going now0
<3> :o
<4> Is there any way to style the color and background of the numbers generated with <ol>?
<5> brianMan: Not that I'm aware of. It seems as though you'd almost want to go with an unordered list for that and wrap the numbers in a span or something.
<4> k
<6> this is driving me to insanity
<6> I cant decide wether to use my real name or username or both with quotes
<1> How about: fname "username" lname
<7> hmm ... I really don't get the whole concatenation of large number bases. I've written css sheets before and never had any specificity indexes involved ... I don't see how my cl*** is being overridden here ...
<6> Bigun: I was thinking that, but in meta tags you cant have double quotes....
<7> why do I need a specifity index ? ... my cl*** is uniquely named ... is someone trying to make css even more complicated than it already is ?
<1> Riyonuk: Cancel them -> fname \"username\" lname
<6> oh didnt know that
<6> thanks
<6> now I can focus
<6> and its not so hot anymore, lo
<6> *lol
<6> >_> it doesnt work
<6> back to the anxiety
<1> Riyonuk: Ok...
<1> Riyonuk: What language is this?
<6> english :p
<1> ..
<7> can someone take a look ? ... http://72.232.183.2/practice/smooth_blue.html ... pretty please ?
<1> CSS, PHP, C++, VB, COBOL?
<6> html
<7> basically cl*** won't work, but id will. It's a very small css sheet ...
<6> meta tags
<1> Riyonuk: I got a solution, lemme look it up
<6> babo: whats the problem?
<6> your cl***es/ids cant have quotes...
<7> when I ***ign my elements a cl***, they won't work. But when I ***ign them and id, the first one will work
<6> #foo is an id, .foo is a cl***
<6> you have to change the css also
<1> Riyonuk: Try this --> http://www.theukwebdesigncompany.com/articles/entity-escape-characters.php
<6> <div cl***="bob"></div> --> .bob <div id="bob"></div --> #bob
<7> Riyonuk: arrghh ... thanks dude, never spotted that ...
<6> I totally forgot about the &quot;
<6> :(
<1> ;)
<1> Bookmark that, it's life's blood to php and html
<6> are you saying I have to remmber all of those x_x
<1> No... just bookmark em
<6> done
<6> thanks
<6> back to my photoshoping
<8> if i have a <div>, with height: 350px. How do i align everything inside it vertically?
<6> line-height: 350px;
<1> Ok Riyonuk, How do I center this blasted logo: http://www.cybergrunge.com/test
<2> hello.. i have a question, regarding different outcomes from different browsers (IE & Mozz)
<6> margin: 0px auto;
<6> or you can just <div align="center">
<0> If you use <div align="center"> I will track you down and beat you with a big stick.
<0> (No, I'm not being very good at ignoring IRC)
<2> anyone?

<6> lol
<6> bad habit
<1> I'm not using an inline style comment...
<1> Either way... neither worked
<6> why are you using absolute position?
<6> I can make you layout without that
<1> Because it needs to be on top of the x-repeating background behind it
<0> Bigun: The problem is obvious. Your logo div has width 100%.
<6> it can still be on top and not be absolute
<0> So the logo div *is* centered.
<0> It's just centered with 100% width, which isn't very useful. :)
<1> Ok...
<1> It's down to 302px... still not centered
<6> DRMacIver: I think I asked you this before, float left and right or float left and the other one margin-left?
<0> Well that's because you've not told it to center. Now do left: 50%; and margin-left: -151px;
<0> Riyonuk: I use float left and float right.
<6> align: center; isnt right
<9> people
<0> Bigun: As Riyonuk said. align: center; is wrong.
<0> You've been told several ways to do this now.
<9> if you have some absolute stuff in a relative container, the container doesn't expand
<1> bootyful
<9> like with floats
<9> anyway to fix that?
<6> absolite is well absolute
<6> if it was normal...
<9> that's not answering my question
<0> Riyonuk: Note that you cannot set margins on something that's width: 100%; (as you have done) without ****ing up the page width (as it has).
<0> err. Sorry
<0> That was meant to be to Bigun
<0> You might want to fix this...
<6> -_-
<6> me --> (>-_-(> ================o x_x <---- shooting DRMacIver
<0> Heh
<0> Riyonuk: It was because I was about to say something to you (I forget what) and then realised I wanted to say something to Bigun and forgot to change names :)
<0> No actual confusion of the two of you.
<6> riiight
<0> Riyonuk: By the way, on an unrelated note, you seem to be under some impression that I'm actually good at css. This is not the case. :)
<6> we all know you :p
<0> Thus any advice from me should be taken with a pinch of salt...
<6> nonix4, your just better than me
<6> -_-
<6> *no
<6> I hate that auto correct
<1> DRMacIver You've been told several ways to do this now. <-- I'm not an idiot by any means, I'm just exploring every avenue to make sense of this... also the last time you mentioned this method, I didn't think about using a negative margin... so half the logo was cut off
<6> Bigun: dont use absolute, dont use negative margins, dont use z-index...
<0> I did mention a negative margin.
<6> your making it all complicated
<1> DRMacIver: I know you did, I probably overlooked it
<1> Now...
<0> Riyonuk: It's a perfectly reasonable and not especially complicated way of doing it.
<1> Time to see WTF this looks like in IE
<1> lol
<6> LOL
<0> Bigun: This centering method actually works in IE.
<1> There needs to be an IE emulator on the web
<0> But I'm afraid the rest of the site doesn't. :)
<0> IE's rendering of it is a wee bit broken.
<6> :p
<6> I dont know what to make now
<6> hmm
<0> A peanut butter sandwich
<6> already did
<0> (Unfortunately jelly support won't be added till css3)
<6> literally
<6> aww
<6> Im going to redo my css :)
<6> make it even better
<10> I have run into an IE margin problem that I have seen a fix for before but cannot remember the fix. The setup: one div with one image in it, the image should be flush with the edge of the div. The Problem: the image appears to be 2-3 pixels from the edge of the div. The margin/padding is set to 0px. When margin is set to 1px, the image moves to be 1px away from the edge. But it cannot be set to 0px or IE moves it out to 2-3 pixels away.
<1> Will IE even make a statement when their CSS support will not **** ***?
<10> CSS support is much better in IE7, but it is still in beta.
<0> They claim that IE7 will be reasonably goot at supporting CSS.
<0> It's certainly better. I don't know if it's good.
<6> it better
