I don't know what could be happening to people that are causing the yum/rpm problem during upgrades from 4.3 -> 4.4. I will say that all of our machines are servers, so there is no gui, less daemons and stuff running than a typical desktop. Maybe related. <0> im not running x. use the box only for a server, and only ssh in <2> ok, same configuration as mine. <0> need help getting sqlite-python <4> hi there <0> think that updating sqlite broke my yum <2> do a yum upgrade or yum install of that package, and put the entire thing in a pastebin, I'll see if I can figure out what's happening. <2> If you happen to be using some kind of sql plugin, start yum without plugin support.
<0> yum is not working <4> why can my browser see index.php but not chmoded 777 jpg images all from /var/www/html/? thanks <2> yum --noplugins install blah <0> getting this: http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/QPo9lO86.html <5> gpled: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.4/os/i386/CentOS/RPMS/ <0> hughesjr: thanks :) <5> gpled: get python-sqlite from there and install it using RPM <0> woot :) <0> hughesjr: any other show stoppers? <0> i was wondering about bind <6> the bind update is flawless. just ask orc_orc <0> lol <5> gpled: that only happens if sqlite gets updated and sqlite-python does not <0> hughesjr: you mean python-sqlite ? <5> orc_orc is having issues with custom scripts and bind right now ... I did not have issue on a normal DNS for a couple domains <5> gpled: that too :) <7> Hello guys! I want to swith from sendmail to postfix, and I don't know the best way to do it... rpm -e sendmail and sendmail-cf then yum install postfix? or is there a change-mailer somewhere? <0> Bazy: let me see if i can find my howto <7> gpled oky :-) <0> think i put it on postfix wiki <5> Bazy: system-switch-mail is your friend (or system-switch-mail-nox for no gui) <0> Bazy: woops, that was the ldap to exchange howto. think i have some notes though <7> hughesjr :-) thank you <0> Bazy: http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/gHUysL72.html <0> can someone else look at my notes too. been a long time, but they should still work <7> gpled thank you for your time and notes <0> Bazy: they should work, but i would wait till someone checks them <0> i have not used them in a long time <7> gpled you use postfix too? I'm sure that they work <0> Bazy: yes, feel free to ask postfix questions <0> better ask in the postfix channel though <8> hi <0> hello <8> yeah I was sorta looking at CentOS because vmware for debian kinda isn't there. <8> arg. <8> and xen for that matter. <7> gpled I'm ok with postfix, I'm installing it according to the postfixadmin install docs. <0> Bazy: where are you seeing thoes docs? <7> gpled http://high5.net/postfixadmin/ <9> congrats on 4.4 ! <9> :-) <7> gpled Postfix Admin is a Web Based Management tool <0> Bazy: am i reading it right? it has not been updated sense 2005/01/07 ? <0> maybe thats ok, if it just does users and such <0> i tend to fine tune my postfix. use it for a email firewall <10> I couldn't get lilo to do a global wallop for our CentOS 4.4 release though :( <11> wheee, 4.4 <11> good work folks <7> gpled It just works with mysql and so far no vulnerabilitys have been found in the php code <6> neuro_: you'll want to hold off on getting 4.4 <11> Evolution: rilly? <11> pour qois? <6> because we'll be releasing 5.0 shortly. <6> which will have a bunch of new features. <11> tsk <11> *thwap* <6> should be out tomorrow or monday at the latest. <11> thought there was a problem with 4.4
<11> wait <11> how can you release 5 when rhel5 isn't out yet? <2> donavan: There have been two people with rpm issues this morning when upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4. A quick fix for them was 'rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__* && rpm --rebuilddb', but not really sure exactly what is causing it for them. I've done 5 successful upgrades so far this morning (4 i386, 1 x86_64). <6> hehehehe <7> neuro_ what problem with 4.4? <6> :-P <11> Bazy: none that i know of, just Evolution being an arse :> <12> hornswaggler <7> :-) <11> i *have* been using centos and rhel for more than 10 mins, cheers :) <0> wow, yum is fast :) <7> :)) <13> neuro_: 13 minutes now? <11> heh <11> closer to 2 years <14> w00t! 4.4 <7> CentOS is great ;) <11> it's pretty freakin' sweet <0> is there a centos wiki? <7> gpled http://wiki.centos.org/ <15> i need help ... i dont have a kbd / screen attached to the box i am trying to configure ... i just ran a script that configured iptables ... now i have lost connectivity to the box ... can anyone help me get it back ... i have logged in (i think) and stopped the service but i still cant SSH in to the box <11> iptables --flush should do the trick <7> ringostarr iptables -F | iptables -X | iptables -t nat -F <15> thanks all ... will try it <15> not worked :( am still getting connection refused <11> checked if the service is running? <11> and then tried ssh'ing to localhost? <15> neuro_, Bazy any other thorts? <15> i have no screen neuro_ only kbd attached <11> jeez <11> no screens nearby you can borrow? <15> fraid not <11> what are you typing into now? :> <15> i'm on lappy .... wish i had a screen for box <11> ok <7> ringostarr "service iptables stop" and "service sshd restart" <11> yes <11> i hate when people are typing what i'm typing and finish before me :) <15> still the same <11> sorry kids, i gotta lug meeting to be at in 7 mins, and it's 25 mins drive away, gotta go <15> the kdb is a usb kbd .... <11> good luck ringo <15> i ***ume it should work tho <7> neuro_ I typed the same thing that you wanted to type? :)) <15> wish there was a LUG near me <15> Bazy, fraid that didnt work :( <7> ok guys, I'm off to the TV until the "yum update" finishes, so I can have 4.4 ;;) <15> this HAS to be working by 8am tomorrow <7> ringostarr the USB keyboard was plugged in to that computer before you started it, or you plugged it in now? <15> b4 i started it <7> ringostarr I'm afraid I have no other ideas except reboot... <15> if the --flush has worked iptables should be empty yes ???? <16> hey guys <7> ringostarr try "/sbin/iptables -F" <16> I had a problem doing a yum with my bind <16> I believe is casued by the yum nightly update <15> has anyone installed QMT? <13> .oO ( Hmm? ) <17> finally finished d/l now im installing we'll see if i get the rpm prob after upgrade <17> why is rhel/centos still using OOo 1?!? <17> i was suprised to not at least see v2 in the centos extras repo <6> devhen: because that's what RHEL ships. <10> because 2 was unstable when RHEL 4 stabalized its package set <6> OOo2 requires substantial rebuilding to toss into extras. <16> hey guys this is my part of my log <17> donavan, Evolution yeah i figured. <16> http://www.rafb.net/paste/results/RnCuup23.html <16> what could generate this problem
