<2> hi people
<2> i write my owner plugin to detect device mount or not
<2> the plugin run ok, but when i check in negios web sometimes i get this messages
<3> i can ping ip addresses
<3> but i cant resolve names
<2> Error: Service Status Not Found!
<3> can anyone help
<2> some idea

<2> people
<2> i search in status.dat and my owner plugin doesn't write in the status.dat
<2> someone here know how i say to nagios to work in this file info about my plugin
<4> vegbox444: check /etc/resolv.conf
<5> Zerberus, it's movie tyme!!!
<4> rado1: indeed
<6> enzo__: you're in the wrong channel
<6> you should be askign this in #nagios
<7> hello everyone
<7> anyone here use ethereal?
<6> Lazydog: nope. I use wireshark
<6> :-P
<8> Hello all
<8> I have a centos 3.8 server
<7> Evolution: thnx i just installed it but cannot find the program
<8> has 4GB or Ram
<8> but only 3 are showing in meminfo
<6> smallfries718: intel board?
<6> Lazydog: install wireshark-gnome
<6> or look at rpm -ql wireshark output
<3> I cant resolve names anymore after i installed nis
<3> :(
<6> vegbox444: then fix nis.
<3> i dont know how
<7> Evolution: i would think that that would be installed auto if it is a dep. of wireshark
<6> Lazydog: it's not. wireshark runs fine on the command line if you're root.
<6> wireshark-gnome is the gui interface.
<6> vegbox444: that's a user issue, not a centos issue.
<7> Evolution: ok you are correct. thnx for your help
<8> Evolution, Asus
<6> smallfries718: motherboard is likely not p***ing ram amounts correctly to the system
<8> Evolution, bios sees it
<6> smallfries718: set ram as a kernel option, or look for a bios upgrade to that board.
<8> I was thinking it was the kernel , but it should support the 4gb with no kernel changes
<8> mem=4gb ?
<6> smallfries718: it does. I have several 4G ram systems.
<6> though none of them are asus, or crap.
<8> I've seen a few stories about the Abit mobos
<8> with ram issues
<6> yep. desktop mobo manufacturers cut corners.
<6> because 99% of their end customers are idiots
<7> Evolution: one more querstion if i may, what package holds dumpcap?
<6> Lazydog: yum provides dumpcap
<7> sudo yum install dumpcap | No Match for argument: dumpcap
<6> did I say "yum install" ?
<6> no. I said "yum *PROVIDES* "
<7> think i got what you are telling me
<6> Lazydog: lets ***ume for a moment that you've actually read the yum documentation.....
<7> come on now... you don't believe that for a minute... do you. :)
<9> Lazydog: It's a bug. Query the centos bug database.
<6> not at all unfortunately.
<7> i don't use yum for any of the expanded stuff just the simple install remove search and update
<7> Evolution: but i'm learning
<8> Evolution, I like the attitude
<9> I like big fries.
<6> smallfries718: quiet you. and fetch me a beer!
<10> donavan: using the buslogic, it doesn't work. using lsilogic it does work on 4.3 or higher, thanks for your help
<10> Evolution: and thank you for being a complete lack of help, and a general nuisence. without people like you, I might ask more questions instead of figuring it out myself.

<6> knotq: any time. <customer service voice>If you're not completely satisfied, please feel free to contact donavan, the day shift supervisor for a full refund of the purchase price of centos</customer service>
<6> people who donate are granted much more friendly service, as they're actually helping to continue the project.
<10> having an faq on what i just said would probably help.
<10> you can even verify it the second you get that esx license.
<6> indeed correct. you should put that on vmware's forums and faq.
<9> knotq: There is a "Hardware database" on the centoswiki. If you'd like to submit an article there, contact me (mail address on wiki).
<10> range: thanks
<9> See wiki for details.
<10> range, i'm going to Germany soon
<9> *fear*
<7> Evolution: found the problem. wireshark was looking in /usr/bin for dumpcap but dumpcap was installed in /usr/sbin so i created a symbolic link to it
<7> knotq: why are you going to germany?
<10> email sent.
<9> Mail received.
<10> Lazydog: job
<7> knotq: germany is a nice country
<7> knotq: i lived there for 15 yrs
<7> knotq: what part of germany?
<10> I don't know much about it, I'm 100% german, born in the U.S. with no cultural upbringing
<10> Waldorf
<7> interesting
<10> I will probably bring the wife and child, and let them visit while I work
<9> knotq: Do so,though that area isn't really that nice (except the river rhine).
<9> Well, Heidelberg is closd.
<9> close
<10> I'm not quite sure about public transportation there either, Will i have to get a car, or can you get around easily on buses/subways?
<10> I really know nothing about the area.
<7> knotq: public trans is really good there. when they say a train or bus will arrive and depart it does normally ontime
<10> Should be a lot of fun though. I've always wanted to visit my "homeland"
<9> Nearest subway is in Frankfurt (which is quite a bit away). Buses I don't really know about, Walldorf isn't that bi of a town.
<9> big
<7> knotq: you mean the fatherland. :)
<10> I guess so :)
<7> i too am part german
<9> knotq: Mannheim - being close - does have good public transportation.
<7> m,aybe that is why i sdtayed so long
<9> But Walldorf itself ..
<10> well, I'll get around. I'm sure if I need a car, I can just get one.
<10> Thinking I'd stay two weeks
<10> give me an excuse to hang around for a couple weekends
<9> knotq: Are you able to read german?
<10> I am not, although you'd think I could given the ammount of emails I get in nothing but german.
<10> brb, work
<7> range: you in germany?
<9> Yes.
<7> where abouts?
<9> Munich.
<7> nice city. while in the army i was there once every 3 week for joint training with our german conterparts
<7> 3 months that is
<7> of a week at a time
<9> Yeah. Big beers :)
<4> range: come on, beer? :)
<9> And a really great area :)
<7> hofbrau house was one place we alway stopped
<9> Zerberus: If I had your regional beers, I'd also complain :)
<7> then there was always the Oktober fest
<9> Lazydog: Yeah, that ****s if you have to live and work here.
<4> range: pils, not pullerw***er :
<7> hehe
<9> Zerberus: :)
<10> range, thanks
<10> i'm going to take off for the weekend, it was nice talking with you guys.
<9> Zerberus: Hohenfelde Pils from Rheda-Wiedenbrck?
<9> k31th: For the wiki article - I sent you a mail.
<9> Oh, already away.
<9> k31th: Forget it.
<4> range: i had forgotten that in your deepest heart you are still feeling your OWL pampas roots
<9> Zerberus: I grew up ~200m away from the Knig-Brauerei in Duisburg :)
<4> range: o, that is a different place then
<4> kpi
<9> Yepp. Only drove throug OWL, never really stayed there.
<9> It was on the way to Berlin :)
