<8> i really hate 421 sites <9> 421 sites? <10> the best is dead sites linked off of new pages <10> god invented link checking software for a reason :P <8> lol <8> im talking about ftps <10> I wish ftp would die <10> makes firewalling so much simpler when it goes away <8> what does a firewall have to do with ftps? <10> nevermind <8> rgr <9> When you setup a firewall you have to open inbound and outbound ports <9> for ftp <8> really? <8> are you serious? <8> ;) <9> no <8> lol <9> not really :P <10> or use a stateful firewall with something smart enough to handle it <10> most do but it's still annoying as hell <8> pavix that's just if you wanna axs it <10> plus you got the other problems <10> like snagging other people's files =) <9> seifried3: my biggest problem with ftp's today is ratios :P <8> seifried sounds like you dono how to set it up <10> EnCrypt`: hehehe <8> lol pavix we dont allow ratio sites <10> EnCrypt`: go read uhh <10> sec <9> ratio's are gay <8> i dono what "uhh" is sir <10> here we go. http://www.seifried.org/security/network/20010926-ftp-protocol.html <8> thank god for this serial for zonealarm that's good for 5149 days lol <10> sad because it still applies to a ton of software <8> seifried that just explaind the FTP protocal <8> in which i've studied enough <9> openbsd's ftpd has a remote root hack? <8> check metasploit <8> i hate being behind a router <10> Pavix: not that I'm aware of <8> then again.. you just cant beat it <10> uhh. <10> everyone on the internet is behind a router <10> sort of.. the definition <8> err <8> yeah <8> but not a router at their ip <10> hehe. you speak funny <10> here's a hint: <8> type hint after : <10> route print <8> you mean printroute lol <10> yeah. guess what. your box knows how to route. =) there is a router at "your ip" <10> Pavix: the openbsd ftp server is about 6300 lines of code, unlikely there are any serious flaws in it <8> im pretty sure we're argueing two different points <9> That's good to know <9> I thought I read in your doc that openbsd's ftpd had a remote root exploit <10> uhh <9> but I'm glad I was wrong :) <10> a long time ago perhaps <8> alrite.. so since 2.8 there has been 11 remote root exploits <8> last one was 3.8 <10> EnCrypt`: in services not enabled by default largely <8> September 17, 2003: A buffer overflow in the address parsing in sendmail(8) may allow an attacker to gain root privileges. <10> yeah. it's not remote by default <8> i dono anything about it <8> im just reading it off of http://www.openbsd.org/security.html <10> most vendors now actually only enable sendmail on localhost <10> so to get at it you need to be a local user <8> pavix i'd switch to qmail ;) that's if it'll work on openbsd <10> good luck patching it to get it to do anything modern <8> qmail? <10> if you wanna ditch sendmail use postfix, at least it's actively developed
