<0> okay I got a question.... im trying to boot a dvd and I have changed bios settings to boot to atapi first then try other sources however, I can boot a cd but im trying to boot a dvd and im sure the dvd is bootable, I can get it to boot on one pc but not the other... on newer systems does the bios have an option to boot from dvd drive instead of saying cdrom and could a motherboard firmware upgrade possibly fix this ?

<1> the problem is that burned DVD's can take longer for the drive to read/seek so the bios just times out while the drive is trying to load the boot sector

<1> you can try a couple things: reburn the DVD on a DVDR, possibly using better quality media or a slower burning speed; or replace the drive with the one from the machine you know works
