<br0adband> Dead bot... great
<br0adband> Errr... no bot at all... even worse
<br0adband> simplesharing == To disable simple sharing (a stupid XP default, where XP doesn't allow you to set FS permissions) in Explorer goto tools->folder options->view and uncheck Use Simple Sharing - If that doesn't work, your drive is most likely not formatted in NTFS. <<<--- This
<mikep\> (a stupid XP \ vista defualt)
<mikep\> ...
<mikep\> i'm a beta tester.
<APunker> Thank you very much broadband!!! :-)
<APunker> You have been very helpful. :-)
<IraPete> who let you back in
<br0adband> np
<Pilpelet> hello
<Pilpelet> any1 here ?
<br0adband> Unfortunately, yep
<Pilpelet> i have wierd problem
<Pilpelet> when my pc workd for day or two, i get to him (2 days only online and bitorrenting) and its almost stuck, very slow, many times i get low virtual memrory msg... what can it be ?
<br0adband> It's Windows, basically
<Animix> or you probably have an app with a memory leak
<br0adband> Like I said :D
<Animix> I know shareaza gets up to like 140mb ram after a couple days, I have to close and restart it
<br0adband> BT stuff tends to do that, especially with Shareaza
<br0adband> Lots of connections, each connection requires some memory... over time that stuff just adds up big time
<sulwyn> now that's an elaborate scam
<sulwyn> very damn gusty of that guy to scam carter - no wonder he chuckled
<Darkclaw> how do I get rid of the genuine windows bull**** notification?
<br0adband> Pay for the software.
<Darkclaw> besides that.
<br0adband> Have someone else pay for it for you.
<Darkclaw> besides that
<br0adband> Don't push it, read the topic.
<br0adband> Colorado Springs, eh... been there, done that
<br0adband> Panda Express at Citadel Mall... great place
<Pilpelet> and i have only 512mb now (256X2 Dual DDDR2)... 1 or 2 GB will help ?
<br0adband> Pilpelet: Not really, it just gives Windows more RAM to chew up over time
<Animix> pile - load up the tasks list and see which one is ****ing down all the ram
<br0adband> A good thorough cleaning might be in order, give Housecall a run at http://housecall.trendmicro.com sometime
<Pilpelet> really ? so 512 should be good ?
<Animix> then find a different app that does the same thing without the memory leaks
<Pilpelet> i have 3.0 2 mb cache 64 bit proccessor (intel)
<Pilpelet> how can i check wheres the memory leak ?
<Animix> 1.7ghz willamette p4... not sure on the cache, frankly
<br0adband> 512
<mR_sCaRy> im not sure either, and dont call me frank
<Pilpelet> any thing i can do to check memroty leak ?
<Pilpelet> one more thing, from time to time my pc goes restart with no msg and nothing just restart.... what can it be ?
<^Keith> virus
<br0adband> That's a long long story in itself
<Pilpelet> heheh. and how can i solve it ?
<^Keith> br0adband i just gave him the short version of a long story VIRUS
<Pilpelet> tell u the truth its from the day i bought this computer, even at windows setup forst time it went restart :-(
<br0adband> Sounds like it's time to install XP nice and clean, a fresh start
<Pilpelet> i dont think its virus, i have ZA Sevurity suite updated...
<tinkle> that doesnt prevent it
<Pilpelet> br0adband, as i wrote, it happend at first installation too :-)
<Pilpelet> so what does prevent it / :-)
<Pilpelet> ?
<sulwyn> who's in colorado springs that you're recommending a place there, bb?
<br0adband> Darkclaw is there, the dude that just left
<databits> hey can someone here help me with an install problem I am havingt
<Pilpelet> br0adband, as i wrote, it happend at first installation too :-)
<br0adband> I saw that
<Pilpelet> :-) what can it be sir ?
<databits> I am trying to install redalert 2 on my machine and every time I run the setup file it gives me an error and dosn't run
<databits> anyone here have any idea's ?
<Pavix> perhaps your cd's are corrupt
<databits> cds are fine
<Pavix> How long since your last reboot?
<databits> I googled it and lots of people have this same problem
<Pavix> windows does funky **** if you dont reboot normally
<databits> I just reeboot
<Pavix> And what did google say they did to fix it
<databits> the anwser was to run the win install service which I did and it didn't work for me
<databits> said that it liked to have the service ran prior to running the setupfile
<tinkle> databits: u have the required specs for the game
<tinkle> what is the error
<databits> oh ya lol plenty
<Pavix> He's running it on a 333mhz p3!
<Pavix> or maybe 333 was p2
<br0adband> P2
<May19TH> anyone here knows their **** around iSA ?
<databits> setup.exe has encoutered a problem and needs to close
<bofh`> definitely p2
<br0adband> P3 started at 450 iirc
<databits> I am running a p4 2.8 hyperthread with a gig of ram and a 128 mb video card
<databits> actually you know what I think I just realized what the problem is
<Pavix> Pentium III
<Pavix> (Katmai) 450 100 * 4.5 32KB
<Pavix> -16K I
<Pavix> -16K D 512K off chip .25 125 9.5 mil Slot 1 -
<databits> could it possibly be the hyperthreading ? maybe if I disable that in the bios it would work
<Pavix> circle gets the square
<giesen> uh hyperthreading shouldnt impact that
<giesen> hyperthreading is definitely teh ghey
<giesen> but it shouldnt be causing that
<databits> I can't figure this **** out at all it is really pissing me off
<databits> I want to play this game bad lol
<br0adband> lalalalala
<Animix> wheeee
<^Keith> databits red alert2 refuses to play on my amd 64bit it installs starts and crashs.....my moto is **** it
<bofh`> because it's an ancient pos
<Animix> hehe
<Animix> I played the old pc xt version of star wars on my p90 one time... was dead before I could pick up the joystick
<Mill> haha
<^Keith> right
<bofh`> heh, yeah
<Animix> ah
<Animix> early double up... that helps
