<3> Video cards were mostly the same, hard drives were mostly 5400 and just getting into the 7200 range in big numbers, RAM was hella slow compared to what it is now, no dual cores, etc
<8> not counting aero, which really only impacts your gfx-card, I don't think Vista is any slower than xp
