<3> You need the SATA drivers, obviously... the SATA controller manufacturer should have a floppy version at their website, you get those drivers, put them on a floppy, a CD, or a USB thumbdrive of some kind and use those to install it

<14> oddly enough, the laptops video card was a "ati mobility radeon 9000" -- the official site had no drivers for vista
