<6> Why doesnt vista include SATA drivers? Isnt that the standard nowadays?
<3> It does, but it doesn't include every single SATA driver on the planet, nor even some older IDE ones
<3> Hell, it can't even see this old Promise Ultra100 controller I have on this mobo, I had to whip out a USB drive with the XP drivers on it
<6> how can i find out if my sata driver is included
<3> Pop in the DVD and try to install it
<3> If it can see your primary drive, the one you want to install Vista on, you're all set
<3> Gotta love this stuff
<3> One guy lists this as a gripe about Vista: "Tried to get the weather gadget to find my zip. I found a city 100 miles away"
<7> tell that guy to move out of the ****ing boon docks then ;)
<1> ;-)
<8> anyone tried Anytime Upgrade yet?
<3> Ugh... just tried CloneDVD for converting a DVD9 to DVD5... man the quality is just HORRID I swear

<11> never judge a book by its cover :D
<11> not that i even care
<11> :)
<6> br0adband: just popped the dvd and didnt recognize my drive. What are my other options are installing my sata drive?
<11> shoot the drive :D
<11> nah, really, you have to hope and find drivers
<3> You need the SATA drivers, obviously... the SATA controller manufacturer should have a floppy version at their website, you get those drivers, put them on a floppy, a CD, or a USB thumbdrive of some kind and use those to install it
<6> my laptop doesnt have a floppy.....But if i install it onto cd..How do i install it ?
<6> I have the drivers
<3> At the screen where it is looking for a drive to install on, click the Load button to browse for the drivers, pop out the Vista DVD, put in the CD with the drivers on it, browse to their location, go from there
<6> ok

<11> or rather, i should say, ***fun ;)
<2> well that didnt work to well
<2> i guess ill format and install ultimate in the am
<14> yo
<14> i take back what i said about Vista. it runs amazing on my pentium M 1.5ghz laptop
<14> but doesn't run that great in a VMWARE machine
<3> No, you don't say </sarcasm>
<14> also, it searched microsoft's site for the video drivers...
<14> oddly enough, the laptops video card was a "ati mobility radeon 9000" -- the official site had no drivers for vista
<14> but microsoft's site has the driver and so vista downloaded it and we've got the video working now
<3> It's not an Aero compatible part so...
<2> br0adband
<2> i will no longer not listen to your advice
<3> Get the latest drivers from the laptop maker, or maybe the Omega Drivers might work also, older versions
<2> br0adband, what version of vista are you running?
<3> XP SP2
<2> ahh....decided not to upgrade
<3> I don't need to run Vista to know more about it that 99% of the people running it :D
<2> lol
<2> you did run it
<3> Yep
<2> trial and error
<3> Uhmmm... trial, on occasion, error, rarely
<2> well i havent made an error
<2> just trials
<2> im going to install ultiamte
<2> ultimate*
<3> It's Vista just like the other Vistas are, soooo...
<2> yea but its got remote desktop
<2> which for me would be really nice. since im at school all the damn time
<11> you could use soonr
<11> look at www.soonr.com
<11> i used that to snag some documents from my laptop on an usb drive and emailed the documents to some friends on my mobile device
<11> the only disadvantange to the whole thing is that the computer has to be on
<15> im trying to connect to the internet using wireless but there are 2 routers using the same ssid and windows is connecting to the one i dont want, is there a way to force it to connect to the other, i saw the options linksys 1 and linksys 2, and it is connecting to 2, i tried to merge them but that didnt work, and i dont have access to change the ssid
<11> don't bother crossposting, we're all the same perps
<15> i noticed different options in vista, so i thought it might be more possible in vista
<9> select the preferred network
<11> i'd hope that was already done
<3> At this point because of the duplicate SSIDs you're stuck unless you can access at least one of those routers and make changes
<11> indeed
<11> windows has no idea where to route the info to, that's why
<15> oh, i thought maybe i could do it with the network profile thingy since windows knows there are multiple ones there
<11> well, ok, that's the really simplistic way to put it, but, hey
<15> but i did click on the help and it said what you said to change the ssid, i was just hoping there was an advanced or other solution, thanks though
<3> If you see both the SSIDs then you should be able to connect to one over the other, but that's iffy
<11> g'luck
<15> yeah it shows them as linksys 1 and linksys 2, and there was an option to merge or delete, but it wouldnt let me delete the active one, i tried merge but it didnt do anythign useful
<3> Just to ask because I get this question like 10x a week, but are you leeching access off a neighbor? :P
<11> hehe
<11> either that or he's trying to get around parental controls
<16> hehe
<11> that woke you up, hehe
<16> :P
<16> yeah looking through a dvd movie list need to get some older collectable movies
<11> ni ni, lil :)
<17> mornng
<3> Bleh
<3> http://www.tuaw.com/media/2006/05/getamac.jpg <<<--- Now they're crossing the line... as a recent owner of 4 Macs, I can say from personal firsthand experience that this is absolute bull****. :P
<18> hehehe
<17> morning bb
<3> Something like that, yep
<17> it is now 36 and going for a high of 55 to 60 degrees thank the Lord...
<3> 47 here... damn, that seems a wee bit hard to believe
<3> But then again it is supposed to get close to 70 today, guess we'll see
<3> Bleh... you know about that upgrade workaround with Vista now don't you?
<17> yeah I read about it...
<3> Most people are of the "Microsoft provided this so I'm gonna take advantage of it" track... what a bunch of maroons
