<Sanguines> If I had an OS installed, or could load one from a bootdisc/disk.. it would be simple <Sanguines> But I don't, so I can't do what you said.. or atleast I don't know how <Sanguines> The only disk I seem to have access to booting is the harddisk <Sanguines> is there something I can put there to make it bootable with either DOS or WinXP setup? <anyweb> do you have an usb key <Sanguines> It's an older computer, so USB cannot be used to boot <towlieban> does anyone know if spyware doctor is free ? <square> ecartman, try it <ecartman> cause some spyware programs scan your computer but wont clean it unelss u buy the program <^-Lord-^> use housecall for a good online scan. adaware personal is free and cleans what it finds <Phiber0pt> ?? ewido is a good trial also. <CyberGeek> ewido == Ewido is a program similar to MS Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware, Pest Patrol and Spybot. But it usually finds stuff the others don't. Run a scan with the trial, and see if that helps. http://download.ewido.net/ewido-setup.exe <muhahaa> what does say 4800x2400 dpi mean in practice, aprox. how many pixels from a photo can such inkjet print per inch? <xti> Phiber0pt <Phiber0pt> !pkban muhahaa STOP THAT **** MFER <xti> my love <xti> <3 <Phiber0pt> hey dood. <Phiber0pt> you know that guy has been asking that question for months now.. But i dunno why during the partition process it only says my HDD has 127gb. now i have it plugged in and i check its volume properties. volume of G: = 131062mb. but above that where it displays the detail of the drive it says compacity 238473mb so im kinda confused.. <bofh`> ?? 137GB <CyberGeek> 137gb == ATAPI HDD's larger than 137GB. Can I use the service pack 2 disk for the repair? and will it upgrade it to sp2 in the process? <^-Lord-^> yes <^-Lord-^> it will <^-Lord-^> ?? repairinstall <CyberGeek> repairinstall == http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341 | http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic8356.html <Rilauven> thank god <^-Lord-^> use second link <^-Lord-^> ok time to go home <^-Lord-^> ciao all <stainer72> I just hooked up my pc completely. is it normal for the cpu fan to be extremely loud during bios? <Rilauven> my gut reaction would be no.. <Rilauven> is it a new machine? <stainer72> brand new <stainer72> just hooked up for first time <CrazyD> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/defnoize/burger.jpg <Rilauven> I'd open it up and make sure one of the fans isn't whacking against a wire or something.. if not, exchange it <stainer72> well, it isn't grinding <stainer72> just loud, like it is spinning fast. I have an asus mobo <Rilauven> being the paranod person I am, I'd worry, asus makes good stuff their fans shouldn't be loud <Rilauven> are you sure it's the cpu fan? if you've got a uber-graphics card their fan's can be pretty loud <stainer72> i have an uber graphics card <stainer72> but the sound is coming from the cpu's fan <stainer72> And plus, asus is not responsible for making the heatsink <CrazyD> rtfm <stainer72> the processor's manual does not go into that kind of detail <Rilauven> if you got an uber cooling solution of your own that could be why it;s loud.. <stainer72> no, just the cpu fan is loud <stainer72> and it is stock. Of course, this is the first time i turned on the pc ever, and i am just setting up windows. <Rilauven> I'd watch the temperature of your cpu while it's under stress.. (playing WoW while running prime95 in te background & such :) ) if it seems fine you should be okay. if the sound's really annoying.. get a new heatsink/fan just for that reason. <Cloneman> *cough* www.silentpcreview.com <_rnyz-> hello fellow internet addicts, looking forward to another LONG night on irc? :) <port> blackdevl <port> GUY <port> WHERE IS blackdevl <Treval> Not really looking forward. <Treval> Sleeping after my digestion. =p <whoop> weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <whoop> work day over <Treval> Wheeeeeee! <whoop> exactly <Treval> How could I make the OS loaded into VirtualPC2004 detect my just plugged in USB stick instead of my primary OS doing that? <trilogy_> what's a good program to share an xp share across the internet <naphtali> WRT54G <stainer72> If my pc ran for a few minutes and then just died what could be the problem? <Over-kill> haha <stainer72> Is it likely i am screwed? I left it off for a few minutes, and the thing won't power <Over-kill> power supply <`trash`> check power supply <stainer72> how? <`trash`> try another one <Phiber0pt> stick a screw driver in it.. <`trash`> lol <`trash`> wet tounge <Over-kill> piss on it <stainer72> so it probably is not the cpu or anything else <Over-kill> its a dell psu i bet <Phiber0pt> if it kills you, goto step 2... if not... replace it. <stainer72> no <Over-kill> oh ok <stainer72> **** <trilogy_> hey what software can i use?! <[D]ee> hey <stainer72> Well, one of the led's comes on when i plug everything in <[D]ee> i have a process that when i kill it it renames itself and starts again
