<1> it goes from Unpartitioned to (New Raw)

<4> Hm, something wired happen to a PC here ... First of, it refuses to receive an IP address from the DHCP server here, so I set it manually. I can ping other PC's using their IP address, but not domainnames. Any suggestions? I've tried booting on a Linux Live CD, where the network works just fine. There is just the Windows Firewall on the machine, which I've tried to disable.
<3> has it been disabled or am i typing the wrong thing in ?
<5> crp sounds like a DNS issue
<0> you're infected with a virus, marz
<0> clean it
<3> thanks man
<3> ill try a scan
<5> np
<4> ManKind: yeah, DNS is one issue, but it works fine on the other Pc's in my LAN. And it doesn't explain the DHCP problem.
<2> how do i play .flac (lossless) music files?

<5> can you ping the DHCP server when you give it a static address crp?
<4> ManKind: Yeah, I can ping the DHCP server when setting a static IP. Also hosts on the internet for that matter.
<0> you get a flac codec
<0> when you set a static ip did you set dns addresses properly? if so, your tcp stack is corrupted
<1> bofh``, i dropped to the REPAIR console and am doing format c: /fs:ntfs
<0> crp netsh winsock reset
<4> bofh``: thanks, will try :)
<0> I've given four answers. I've filled my quota for the day. :)

<11> a tv cannot refresh like a comp. monitor
<11> unless your vid card has a setting for 1080i (HDTV) it's not going to show text clearly
<12> yeah you just needa get a hd tv
<11> it's mostly used for video
<11> which you'll notice will be nice and clear
<0> uh, yeah, tv's ****. that's thye problem. that's why they make computer monitors
<10> will movies run fine ?
<12> and even if your vid card has that .. you're tv probably won't support it

<12> yeah you probably won't notice it on movies
<12> I don't
<0> movies, even dvd, are a lot lower picture quality than your desktop
<0> lower refresh too
<10> so no need to set diffent Hz's or size ..etc?
<12> but then again I don't have a HDTV to compare it to
<10> refresh low to 60 ?
<12> I wouldn't GodAnubis .. just let er run

<13> would that cause and affect
<14> are you sure you created an admin?
<14> or did you create a user?
<14> sounds to me like you created a user
<13> so how would i create a admin
<14> first off, you need an admin user to create another one
<13> in user accounts it says comp admin
<16> :/
<16> I'm about to install vista
<17> OMG!
<16> my body hates me right now lol
<17> Really now.

<18> hey everyone, I have an ATI related question, everyone in the ati channel seems to be afk, so I'm hoping someone here could help me. My monitor is a DMT monitor (Discrete Monitor Timing). My 9800 Pro detects the monitor as a GTF (General Timing Formula) monitor, which is incorrect and as such, displays my screen incorrectly.
<18> Does anyone here know how to change your monitors timings from GTF to DMT on an ATI card?
<18> on my nvidia card it was right in the advanced settings, but I can't figure out how to do it on my ATI system for the life of me
<2> http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4744304.stm
<19> nothing wrong with that
<18> brb, im going to try powerstrip.
<18> back
<20> ok everyone continue your conversation, cause SidDither has returned.
<21> heh
<18> :P
<18> seriously though, I didnt think my problem would've been this hard to solve
<18> with nvidia I just go into the advanced settings in the display properties and select DMT timings
<18> with ATI, I have no fscking clue where the setting is to change it. I even installed powerstrip and cant find it there either
<22> I got a speaker with left and right audio wire (old style).. is there anyway to hoo that speaker up to the PC? adapter of some sort?
<14> you don't want those speakers anywhere near your computer
<22> lol why not?
<17> Wow same here likwid8. =p
<20> Shad0wcat hey why is my harddrive getting bad clusters
<20> ;)
<6> :-)
<14> Phiber0pt: exactly
<14> that's the answer to your question likwid8
<14> hi-fi speakers aren't magnetically shielded
<14> put them near computer equipment and they'll destroy them
<14> but then again, you're welcome to try
<23> i got 4 of them 2ft above my computer though
<14> above or below isn't much of a problem
<20> some of those speakers have huge magnets
<14> it's left and right that's the killer
<14> Phiber0pt: not some, most
<23> yeah gotta be out of the wave :)
<14> if the speaker's a foot tall
<14> the magnet has more than enough strength to scramble a partition
<14> if it's a three feet speaker
<14> I want it at the other end of the room

<11> futt da wuck
<11> ^_Lord_^ you around?
<1> how can i tell my windows xp installation cd to use C:\I386 instead of the cd upon boot?
<1> "boot from win-xp cd, and tell it to look for I386 directory in your hard drive instead of cd rom."
<1> anyone?
<20> can't do that... you need to copy the files from the i386 folder on the cd, to the harddrive i386 folder.
<20> then boot using a boot disk, and goto c:\i386 and run winnt
<20> if it's not NTFS.. if your c: is NTFS, then you'll need to find a bootable NTFS style disk, like NTFS4DOS
<11> Phiber0pt you run mce?
<20> on one PC
<11> could ya dcc me ehshell.exe ?
<1> Phiber0pt, i don't have a floppy drive
