<Oern> Is it posible to disable the attachment manager introduced in sp2? Or can I somehow tell it not to block mp3 files? I'm using xp home edition with sp2.
<Oern> anyone?
<^-Lord-^> that's an email specific issue
<^-Lord-^> not an OS issue
<Oern> it is related to all ms software that use the attachment manager
<justifier> Oern ask in #help
<Oern> Ok. I'll ask there
<Darryl> I think Lord had a big bowl of cranky this morning
<justifier> lol yup
<Darryl> I don't even know what the attachment manager is
<justifier> what i was thinking
<justifier> seems like no-one in help deos either he aint got anyhelp
<^-Lord-^> not cranky at all
<justifier> [17:30] <01@deww> Oern: attach manager?
<Darryl> !google disable attachment manager windows xp
<CyberGeek> http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883260
<justifier> lol
<Darryl> !google google
<CyberGeek> http://www.google.com/
<Oern> CyberGeek: It does not explain how to disable it. I dont have the group policy editor because I have home edition. And those registry keys are non-existent on my system
<CyberGeek> Oern: You've ever hollered "Rock the house, Bubba!" during a piano recital.
<Darryl> CyberGeek is a bot
<CyberGeek> Darryl: You've ever caught bugs just so you could throw them in the bug zapper.
<^-Lord-^> if the registry keys are non existent... then create them and set them as they should be
<Oern> ok. I
<Oern> I'll try that
<sirius> ffs the one time i **** up, my system is full of virus, trojan, ****
<port> hahaha
<port> sux
<sirius> accidentally clicked an exe thinking it was a zip
<sirius> !#%@!#%
<port> ouch
<sirius> think i've killed it
<sirius> no more outgoing connection attempts at least
<sirius> "yet"
<justifier> lol
<Oern> I dont think creating all theese registry keys is the way to go. First I dont know what type they are. Second the kbarticle say that if one of policies are not set an "unblock" checkbox should be visible in a property dialog - it is not.
<subnet_su> hey guys and girls, ive just yesterday had to format my computer and that was hard enough as im not very computer literate. Once id managed to successfully do this i then realise my sound isnt working and that i need to install drivers
<subnet_su> and i dont know what type of sound card i have
<subnet_su> and seem to have lost my disks with the drivers on
<stg|wrk> you have a pci sound card?
<subnet_su> i have no idea
<subnet_su> thats what i mean lol im rubish with computers
<stg|wrk> is the sound on the board?
<stg|wrk> the green hole
<subnet_su> yes
<stg|wrk> ok
<stg|wrk> do you know what kind of motherboard you have?
<subnet_su> nope
<stg|wrk> ok
<Oern> If someone send me a .mp3 file in MSN Messenger and I try to open it, I get an error saying something like: "To help protect your computer windows has blocked access to this file". As I understand it this is because the Attachment Manager think its dangerous. Anyone know how to fix this? I've googled for this but dont find any answer.
<stg|wrk> take the side panel off and look to see what brand and model # your board is
<stg|wrk> before doing that
<stg|wrk> did you check Windows Update?
<subnet_su> ok, i know i have a nvida geforce2video card
<subnet_su> if that helps anything
<subnet_su> yeh done all windows updates
<stg|wrk> ok
<stg|wrk> take the side panel off and look at the board
<stg|wrk> see what brand and model it is.
<subnet_su> can i do it with the comp on?
<^-Lord-^> !google disable attachment manager in MSN Messenger
<CyberGeek> http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883260
<Oern> CyberGeek: this article does not explain how to fix the problem
<CyberGeek> Oern: howdy
<subnet_su> stg is it ok to take the side of the computer off with the computer on
<Oern> CyberGeek: hello
<CyberGeek> Oern: YEAH.....just float away you fary!
<Oern> what are you babbling about?
<stg|wrk> yeah
<stg|wrk> subnet_su: yeah you can
<subnet_su> k 2 tiks
<Oern> Has noone got that error message?
<subnet_su> a7n266-vm
<stg|wrk> ok
<stg|wrk> asus?
<snifer[a]> hey
<subnet_su> YEH
<stg|wrk> sup?
<^-Lord-^> Oern: if MS doesn't explain the problem fully, how do you expect us to?
<stg|wrk> ok
<stg|wrk> subnet_su: one sec
<Oern> ^-Lord-^: well, sometime people manage to solve problems without help from MS. I know the answer is out there somewhere. I just cant find it.
<snifer[a]> not 2 much i got a problem installing a harddrive, i installed it on my pc, and my pc is reading the hard drive on my system device, but the hard drive i s not showing on my computer
<Oern> I
