It was a security hole in windows media player. Basically you open a .bmp file and it causes an overflow in windows media player and lets you run shellcode. When I ran it, it closed windows media player. My question is, if someone was attacking me with this and i opened that .bmp file would that give them access to my system where they would be able to run any command? <kia> why would you open a bitmap image in wmp? <kia> just.. why would anyone do that? <pvd2006> There is no reason <pvd2006> im just curious to what is happening <pvd2006> http://www.frsirt.com/exploits/20060215.wmp-ms06-005.cpp.php <pvd2006> is it <simon-> hi, is anyone around to help me out. i've googled and haven't been able to fix my problem (explorer and dr watson crash when i right click on the desktop or in explorer) <simon-> ive used shellexviewer to disable all context menu additions, still hasnt helped <pvd2006> nevermind about that, ill figure it out sometime later. One question I do have is where to find Pex/text.pm for PERL. I googled it, PPMed it, looked for it on c-pan no luck. my perl programs create an error saying can't locate pex/text.pm @INC. <peachfuzz> good morning anybody around <peachfuzz> lol <peachfuzz> I have a video I got from the internet but it is saying I dont have the correct codec to play it...I tried to play it in Windows Media Player, Real Player, DivXPlayer I give up how do I find out what codec I need and where to get it <[M]ax> ?? gspot <CyberGeek> gspot == http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ <-- Use to find out information on specific movie file i.e. codec for audio & video, also compression. <peachfuzz> FFmpeg I263 decoder <[M]ax> there is your answer then <[M]ax> google it <square1> www.merito.co.uk <square1> work for anyone? <[M]ax> nop
