<1> evening all
<2> i have a older WinTV card now. i dont really need it
<3> *yawn*
<1> Can anyone recommend a good system for a gamer?
<3> qqqq: custom or branded?
<4> qqqq amd dual core
<1> I want the ATI x1900 video card but not sure on the mobo
<5> l
<6> qqqq, how much do you have to spend?
<1> $$$
<3> the dual cores are nice
<4> qqqq sli board, amd dual core, 2gig ddr2 4200
<4> all set
<1> dual cores = no apps support them yet

<7> hehe
<4> qqqq not true
<1> well, a few
<4> you can set core priority
<8> "no apps" is a pretty specific amount of apps, which does not include a "few"
<4> burn dvds on one, play 3d games on the other, at the same time
<1> same as HT
<4> **** no
<1> how so?
<4> ht is like virtual dual
<8> heh qqqq
<1> What's the difference?
<7> 2x 2048mb ram, Athlon 64 3500+ (Dual Core), 1TB (4x 250gb), 19" 4ms response
<4> dual core is dual core
<9> I have been capped am I am streaming video online. It keeps stoping and starting. How do I make it flow
<10> McDuck you are yet a weak jedi.
<7> Phiber0pt, thats fun
<1> 1 CPU is still slicing the processes into parallel channels, yes?
<8> get uncapped Slidaz
<7> iv been playing Star wars galaxies all day
<7> hehe
<4> Slidaz lower your output res
<4> 17Kb upload cannot stream video
<9> how do I do that
<1> well.. ok, I'm not too keen on dual core yet as I don't see the need for a game system
<8> Slidaz same way you got capped
<9> ?
<4> then what's your purpose for a system?
<1> small improvement perhaps but nothing I would drool over
<4> office apps?
<1> how much better does a dual core system make a game?
<11> fixboot and fixmbr removed the boot manager :)
<7> Now, what annoys me is that they force on me all these stupid *** products when i order
<7> like Works, WinDVD, Nero, etc
<4> if the game supports it, it's crazy better
<4> if not, it's still gonna blow away a pentium
<9> Im watching Dr Phil
<9> he is the man
<2> come on directx9, i want to see how this onboard video does on it b4 it freezes
<4> **this from a long time pentium lover
<7> Dr Phil rocks
<4> but amd blows pentium away in 3d
<9> I need to see him
<4> i run a 2.8HT now
<9> havent been to work in 5 weeks
<4> getting a 4800x2
<9> work sux
<4> can't wait
<11> lol
<1> ok, well, I will think about it. Any suggestions on a mobo / case? Is a 500 watt system going to be enough nowadays for these crazy systems? The new vids want a 400 watt system
<9> I guess I better go tomorow
<4> minimum 500
<1> k
<12> Hi. I never formated a hard drive on a machine without diskette driver as the one i have now. I use to do with MS-DOS format, from a diskette. I have two partitions on the disk, the system one and another with data. I don't remember how Windows XP handles that in a way of not touching on the second partition. Could you please clarify me on that.
<4> i'm going to run 450 + a 380
<4> 380 dedicated to x1900 card and usb ports
<4> 450 for the rest
<1> 380 for the x1900? I thought it needed more
<13> not if its dedicated

<4> nah
<1> never seen a case handle dual poer supplies
<4> needs like 12 but i don't want any strain whatsoever
<13> you have to remember that ps isn't running a hdd, dvdrom, mobo, cpu
<4> it's called spot welding :)
<9> I changed windows media player to 56kbps
<13> I thought that was 'tak' welding
<13> or w/e
<9> and now its just audio
<9> ?
<4> same thing different name
<4> very good Perfekt
<4> women are cool
<1> so I should be able to pick up any case that is a ATX factor and a mobo of my choice?
<4> especially ones that know welding :)
<4> and irc on top... shiiiiit
<4> i'm in love
<4> ;)
<14> :-D
<4> CyberGeek, what do you think of that?
<14> sirius: what do you want?!?!
<4> CyberGeek, your opinion.
<14> sirius: "Well, I was at the bus station and I did what any
<11> *BARNABAS* you can format by booting to the windows xp cd
<4> mmmk
<4> nvm CyberGeek
<14> sirius: Your dog has ever brought home something that you cooked for dinner.
<11> you still have to use fdisk to configure partitions i think
<4> i never told anyone about that :/
<8> you can partition from setup as well
<11> what am i thinking
<11> ya you can
<11> *smoked
<12> PhrAXioN, so I have an option in there to select from format both partitions or just one isn't? Both are NTFS.
<11> i dont think you can format multiple partitions from setup
<11> i think right after the format it proceeds with install
<13> I don't like welding
<13> it ****s and it is retarded
<8> just format the one you are installing to and format the others after windows is up
<11> ya
<12> PhrAXioN, but i don't have the danger of formating the whole drive, that's what i'm wondering.
<12> ManKind, i want to keep the DATA one as is :)
<11> are you deleting partitions or just formatting
<12> thanks PhrAXioN and ManKind
<8> Barnabas then dont touch it, when you format the system partition when you select to install, it will only format the one partition
<12> PhrAXioN, formating to do a clean system installation
<11> it will display the partitions and allow you to select the drive
<12> only system, leaving DATA partition as is
<12> ok
<12> ok ok thanks a lot
<8> np
<11> yes it will display both volumes and the label and size etc.
<12> ManKind, i'm used to the old way of doing it :)
<11> format c: does own
<11> lol
<0> shiny happy people holding hands
<13> <--- bored
<12> One more question, sorry. I have My Documents, Desktop, My Identity and Favorites on my DATA partition, not on the default SYSTEM disk as it comes originally. When re-installing the system, isn't there the danger of XP taking over and cleaning that data (like detecting existing configuration and since the links are pointed to those locations)
<1> looking at asus mobo / combo
<0> <---- naked
<3> NO
<3> WAY
<3> !@#!'
<15> lol
<13> barn
<13> no
<13> it just renames them
<3> hey Perfekto
<13> to like administrator.old
<13> or w/e
<12> Perfekt, okie, tks :)

<3> whats cookin
