<0> people crack me up though <1> FKnight`; the feds printing money by the bushel is what devalues it <1> you know they wanna stop reporting the M3 ? <0> "You used to be able to take $10 to the bank and get $10 worth of Gold, now you can't" <0> you still can <0> it's called a pawn shop <1> M3 is the total amount of money in circulation. <2> why should education not be free? the problem with education anymore is that it gets all wrapped up in *what* to think and fails to give guidance on *how* to think critically. <3> that comes with experience <4> Oh, Jesus. There's a dude on a mailing list I'm on named Richard Vile. <4> But he refers to himself as ****. **** Vile. <4> Why would you do that? <4> Why!? <3> **** his vile **** <1> hahahah, theres a Richard Loving on my advrider list who calls himself **** <5> i dunno i plan on myaking what i need free in my lifetime
<0> pale_blue: Education should be private I think. Whether it costs something or is volunteer based is up to the school or organization, but private education gives a monetary incentive to provide good education. Unfortunately, property taxes rape people out of so much money, their only choice is public school where majority rules on how to teach. <5> i mean i like to work <6> i know a girl named candace kane but she goes by candy kane <5> but not for a useless persuit to help someone else profit <6> she should be a stripper <1> thats his real name, I kid not. I've met him. <1> Candy Kane is the name a blues singer who WAS a stripper. <1> she's a riot <3> strippers are real people <3> i know a few <6> me too <5> so do i <1> !google candye kane <7> hahaha <8> http://www.candyekane.com/ <6> i know 3 of them i think <7> i love how 24 makes some bull**** up <4> FKnight`: My problem with that sentiment, accurate as it may be, is that I believe education is one of the things society "owes" its members. Bettering everyone through education improves the society. <2> privatized education indoctrinates close-minded pinheads. there's no accountability to provide unbiased education. <2> society needs all the help it can get. <9> There doesn't appear to be any accountability now. Public education is an abject disaster. <0> fdiv_bug: there are private schools now. I think without having to be taxed for a public school system, more money would be available for families to form smaller neighborhood schools, or small businesses to do it. As to indoctrinating students, a parent should be free and should be allowed to have their money so that they can pay <3> hehe <0> a school to indoctrinate their kid however the parent sees fit. <3> move to canada. <3> then you can stop bitching about shoddy education <5> you cant trust parents with kids <10> lets just move education to the private sector <1> right, so they can profit off it? <5> you cant even trust government with kids <10> hell yes! <2> bush's "no child left unbutt****ed" policies haven't done any good for public education. <0> You don't profit by making your customers unhappy. <9> Yes, so they can profit from it. <4> FKnight`: What about the parents who would rather spend the money on something else, and so shrift their kids in their education? Would there be minimal levels? <0> Profit is a motivator to please your customers. <1> FKnight`; ask enron about that. <10> that wasnt profit <1> **** the customers, rape them hard, and walk away with billions. <10> that was self absorbtion <1> worked for them <10> it did? <9> Peerce: FYI, that's a case example of fraud, not profiteering. <1> SD70MAC; they have yet to be convicted of anything. <10> their lives are so ****ed <9> Not relevent. <1> right, with 100s of $millions socked away in offshore banks. <0> fdiv_bug: I don't presently know how to answer that but it's a good question. <0> And I have an answer, just will take me a minute to word it I think. <4> OK. <0> I do know, however, that parents wouldn't necessarily have to pay <10> so you would want to be Ken Lay right now? <0> private doesn't necessarily mean for profit <10> im not a fan of totally outsourcing education to the private sector <10> too much corruption <4> FKnight`: That is true, there are lots of private 501(c)(3) corporations. <10> (like there isnt enough right now) <0> I know with an extra $1000 a year off of my property taxes, I could probably home school my kids and about 3 of my friends' kids <0> or fund a private charity school <1> that would pay for about 10 texbooks <0> through non profit tax deductable donations
<4> I dislike home schooling. <10> fk would ebay textbooks <4> At least for middle and high school. <10> i wouldnt home school <0> fdiv_bug : home schooling has a lot of drawbacks. <10> i think social environment is important <4> Kids need to learn how to build social interaction with large groups of similar and different kids. <0> fdiv_bug: but charity schools would be tax deductable. <10> i also think uniforms are a good idea <0> yeah <1> kids need to learn to deal with the ***holes in life <10> except for the fact that idea is destroyed once college starts <0> that's why home schooling ****s <0> no social interaction <0> but what about education cooperatives? <10> coops are good <0> like credit unions and electric cooperatives <4> FKnight`: I haven't put much thought into those. <0> people would be competing <0> to provide better education <0> right now the govt has a monopoly <2> the question i have is where does the culture of corruption come from. privatization of education gets caught up in social, political, and religious agendas, and yet public education is flaccid and broken. both pretty much ****. <0> what else too though is <0> everyone is in homeowners ***ociations <10> there has to be a medium <5> i dont think most things are naturally expensive its just our greed that makes it that much <0> so why not have homeowners ***ociation based schools <10> HOA's **** here <0> communitee schools <0> I'm just saying that could be one TYPE of school <0> if it's private, you can have all kinds <10> what we need is sponserships for schools <1> I dunno, the public schools here are pretty decent, my kids have had a bunch of excellent teachers, there'sa high level of parental involvement at all grade levels <10> "Bud High" <0> digidog hahah <1> the biggest pisser is all the stupid gummint mandated testing <0> well <5> i took those tests <5> lame <10> all i know <0> if the state wants federal funding for schools :D :D <0> they gotta follow the rules <0> that's the sickest part <10> is a dropped out of HS and look where i am today! <0> every state VOLUNTEERS <0> for a PRICE <11> I'm just not sure how several companies all hiring teachers and buying books and providing facilities wil be cheaper than one organization doing that <10> on irc bitching about the school system <0> you want funding? here are the rules. <11> you can say "they'll compete" <11> but they still need to turn a profit <11> or at least break even <2> i'm not saying *all* public schools ****. i'm sure they run the range, but it's just another one of those things where the distribution curve is lurching unpleasantly to the left. <5> digidog? <0> Jet: like every other business :D <11> and if you have 3 or 4 companies all hiring teachers and buying books and paying taxes on buildings <11> how is that cheaper than one organization doing it? <10> i dunno <1> there was some outfit selling privately run charter school packages all over the state here... they caught the founders skimming, all kinda crap going on, and the kids that supposedly were doing really well were totally unprepared for college. <10> we'll find out soon once att is done <1> all the test results had been faked and forged. <0> the government runs too much **** <9> Sounds like a public school. <2> heh, "higher" education is a whole other farce i don't even want to get started on. <10> agreed fk <5> it seems schooling is all geared to prepare you for business nothing that you could actually use in life <0> here's the thing -- everyone has their own beliefs, everyone has their own opinions, their own religions, ***ual orientations, etc. EVeryone argues about it. So what does everyone insist on doing? Throwing all the kids in the same government school system. <10> now web, thats isnt true <12> wierd... <0> *government school monopoly <2> indeed. that's a pretty ignorant claim. <12> marie left me. <10> ? <12> after almost 10 years.
