<0> Makes for kick*** fills.
<1> greg22, firmly planted in my chair.. the real question is where is the foot!
<2> my right foot gets the twitches and I can blast triplets pretty damn quickly with it... just gotta train my left foot to do the same :)
<0> MmM.
<0> I over did your mom in the oven.
<2> right-left-right-right left right left right left right left right...
<2> lol
<0> ralf.
<3> I have a problem windows doesnt recognize my dvdr drive. it did before but now it doesnt how do i fix it?
<2> abben: not there at all?
<2> check your IDE chain... make sure it hasn't come loose...
<1> Abben, did you run fbts ?
<2> try changing the IDE cable over... see if that helps
<4> any1 need a cpu http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6850486960

<1> **** it's broke throw it in the snow.
<2> cast them face first in the dirt
<1> looks liek master is trying to push his overlocking mistakes.
<3> whats fbts?
<1> **** it's broke throw it in the snow.
<5> the noise a particularly wet fart makes.
<3> no the cable is fine. but whenever i restart the pc it opens by itself twice
<6> Bob_Wood-; sorry, was AFK. that *could* be due to the socket opening limitations of XP post SP2, if either the server or client are SP2.
<6> many small files over a fast WAN could potentially trigger that
<1> Abben, something is wrong with the cable or the drive.
<2> fbts.
<3> the drive worked this morning then nothing.
<1> yea well how do you expect a drive to die?
<6> Abben; have you powered off, given a minute or 3 cold, then powered back up ?
<1> it works one minute.. 5 minutes later.. toast.
<3> its not even 2 months old
<3> no havent done that yet
<6> Abben: sometimes, once in a blue moon, **** gets into a state where 'cold' is the only thing that resets it fully.
<2> mine did that... was working fine one minute... then refused to read any CD's altogether... the laser had died
<1> while it's off.. unplug the power cord.. and press the power buttn and hold..
<1> this will release all stored energy in the machine/psu
<6> Tsu; thats religious (and bull****).
<6> off is off.
<0> omg.
<6> the residual voltage will bleed through the circuitry in seconds.
<1> i don't knock it it work(s/d) for me .
<6> hence a minute "off", thats plenty.
<6> yeah, and you probably knock on wood, and say your prayers every night, and toss salt over your shoulder.
<3> so turn off pc. then remove the power cable and hold down the power button?
<1> hey i aint no static strap wearin sissy.. lol
<6> the power button will do NOTHING if the power supply is unplugged
<2> my 300Gb external hdd zaps me if I touch the terminals a minute or so after unplugging it
<6> static is real.
<6> pure black magic is merely misunderstanding.
<6> Predata; thats gonna be static too. and if its properly grounded, no WAY it should do that.
<6> or if you're grounded.
<6> if you don't ground yourself, you're zapping the drive, not the other way around.
<2> static is very real... and it will only be when you fry something worth alot of dollaz that you will start using one ;)
<7> ok, if you are grounded, you probably shouldn't be on IRC at this time of night
<7> your moms or dads might get mad.
<6> what, its only 9pm
<6> :D
<1> Predata, always discard yourself prior to touching anything.
<7> in the proper timezone, its midnight.
<2> yah... I upgraded my computer by earthing myself out on my bedframe... used the screwdriver on a swiss army knife :)
<1> amonfils, i am grounded and they took away my access point..
<2> rough as guts heh
<1> think i'll tell them i'm using the neighbors? haha
<6> muahahaha, this should be the start of a funny series :D http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20060222
<1> haha that's good.
<5> should be, but as is the usual case with UF, probably won't be.
<1> http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20060223
<6> I'm still blown away how good this guys pix are... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2372602&postcount=22 (those are from the Tour Of California bicycle race, yesterdays stage)
<8> Wow. This Bluetooth dongle installed all sorts of freaky devices.
<7> blootoof windows stack scary.
<8> Network adapter, Sound adapter, Com port,
<9> nasty outside.
<7> it's not just a simple a device, it's like a whole way of life.
<8> Now. The real trick here is figuring out how to configure the Treo for "reverse dun" so it can receive tcpip from bluetooth, versus its standard (intended) mode of operation of being a provider...
<9> I want to bring a shotgun to work.
<9> and shoot all of our customers servers

<9> boom!
<9> headshot!
<8> Just Call ****.
<5> that's the difference between americans and canadians. the american would have ended that thought at "customers".
<9> if we had shotguns in the first place
<6> I want to get a t-shirt that says 'deconstructionist' in plain white letters on a black shirt. maybe the back has BS! BS! BS! all over it.
<5> oh, that's right. you guys don't use guns to hunt. you just throw empty beer bottles and try to cold cock the moose.
<10> ahem
<10> i take exception
<5> FREEZERNU looks suspect.
<10> i do both
<5> you're not canadian.
<11> THere was only one year in my life (from age 16 to 17) where I had a job that WAS NOT based on some type of sales/commission
<11> and that was when I worked at a fabric store, selling fabric to old ladies. But it wasn't really sales in the typical way
<11> but anyway.
<12> you were a guy in a fabric store?
<12> geez
<12> i hate even going in a fabric store makes me feel like i am in the womans underware dept
<5> how annoying. i can't find my damn full version of acdsee 3.1. all i can find are trial installers.
<7> i prefer the dirty womans dept
<7> so i have something to sniff
<8> Wow. Holy ****. Bluetooth networking is working on my Treo. Huge speed difference over EDGE.
<12> get irfanview its free
<13> doesnt treo battery life ****?
<0> You go pb.
<13> racing sim.. http://www.dumpalink.com/media/1128763214/Racing_Simulator
<8> SuperBoi: No actually its really good
<8> SuperBoi: way larger battery then any other cellphone ive ever had in the past
<8> 6+ hours talk time
<6> my old nokia had a awesome long life liion battery
<13> cool.. i've had avaya guys come in.. saying it ****s up juice really fast
<6> that was pre-flipphone. nokia 62xx or something (I forget the #, but it was a AT&T TDMA+analog)
<13> another guy was using a bluetooth scanner w/treo.. that was neat.. scanning barcodes
<6> 6130 or something?
<6> was good for weeks of casual use
<8> Depends how you use it. Using the PDA alot, well, doesnt drain too much power as long as you keep the backlight at a sane level. I've watched a full 2 hour long movie, divx format, using TCPMP, at 50% brightness, only ate 25% of the abttery.
<8> i usually leave the backlight around 25%. cause indoors, thats plenty, and outdoors, the screen is transflective and you can see it fine even with no backlighting
<8> SuperBoi: There's an application for the treo that uses its onboard scanner as a barcode scanner :D
<8> It doesnt do anything but decode the barcode and tell you its digits... but cute nevertheless.
<8> err. onboard camera as a barcode scanner
<8> its not terribly accurate, requires plenty of light and lots of contrast on the barcode, but as a proof-of-concept its neat.
<5> now i remember why i don't use irfanview.
<13> nice.. my work only allows blackberry's new 8700c is pretty cool
<5> it blows.
<8> i cant wait for palmos on linux... i saw something on gizmodo or engadget or some **** saying its right around the corner
<14> test
<14> whoa. no latency
<8> thats like instantaneous. heh. z0g-ho2 is the irc client on the treo.
<8> fantastic. cant wait to take this dongle to work tomorrow to test its distance.
<15> anyone know what the windows equivalent is of /etc/profile ? like, a startup file for when you open a command prompt (cmd.exe)
<10> that was ambiguous
<7> ok
<7> /etc/profile is generally a skeleton
<7> ~/.profile is what is read
<8> With some distributions, setting a global profile is recommended to be done in /etc/profile.local (suse for one)
<7> and how does that relate to cmd.com or /bin/sh ?
<8> Since the system's configuration tools are likely to rewrite /etc/profile
<7> i.e. digidog summed it up
<7> 00:47 < digidog> that was ambiguous
<15> i know that, but wtf is it in windows? is there a batch file that gets called by cmd.exe on startup?
<7> no. there are parameters ***igned via a dialog
<7> for environment and stuff like that
<10> environment variables
<7> the concept of autoexec.bat has been deprecated
<15> well,... i installed this program that echo's something to my command prompt every time i start it now, and i want to get rid of it.
<7> right click my computer select 'advanced'
<15> cause it's messing with my compilers
<7> and you can see some of it
<15> yeah but it doesn't have what i'm looking for.
<10> it will default to %userprofile%
<10> if you want to change that
<10> go ahead
<10> and good luck
<10> help set
