<0> Ah. Well, put a "sleep 20" or something at the beginning. ;) <0> Can you do that in a batch file? <1> dunno <1> I tried just getting the batch file to run <1> but it appears to not even do that(I can't see any errors thrown) <2> sounds like a job for wsh and not a batch script <1> how would wsh help? <0> Nope, sleep isn't a built in command. Nuts. <3> there's no sleep but you could cheat and use ping for 20 sec. <0> True. <1> I just wrote a test batch file, sleep exists? <1> ah, must be some tools I have installed locally giving me sleep <1> damn <0> Cygwin or something? <4> To the best of my knowledge there is no sleep, atleast for the weary. All NT commands are documented in the reference section of the main system help file. <1> nah, no cygwin here, maybe one of the resource kits I installed
<0> Could be. <0> Though I'm surprised I don't have it then, what with all the resource kits I've installed. Heh. <5> how do i repair Internet Explorer on WindowsXP? <5> i dont see it in Add/Remove programs anymore <5> thats how i used to do it <0> What about it needs repairing? <4> HeckPC: In what way is it broken? I don't think there is a way to roll back and reinstall most versions of IE. <5> it wont open "new windows" and i cant click links <5> i previously had virus's and they screwed itup <4> (or atleast no thoroughly documented way) <5> SpyFox <5> well <5> my friend showed me <5> that if you went to add/remove <5> and you found Internet Explorer <5> and clicked on "change/remove" <5> then it would give you the 3 options: <5> repair, reinstall, remove <4> Btw, which version is this? and the os? <5> oh <5> i guess that was windows 2000 <6> I'd suggest the regsvr32 commands recommended at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555027 <6> even those that doesn't describe your particular problem, its possible the problems you're having will be fixed by re-registering urlmon.dll and shdocvw.dll and mshtml.dll and stuff <7> whats a good program like Microsoft scheduler ? <0> It might not hurt to go to "Tools"->"Manage Add-Ons" in IE and look for stuff you didn't put there. <0> ***uming it's SP2, anyway. <5> k <5> i just did <5> thanks <0> Maybe there are several pop-up blockers butting heads or something like that. <5> just messengers and Sun Java <5> ya <0> Sounds safe. <6> HeckPC: also check http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/IEtopten.mspx, specifically items 5 and 6 <5> could be <6> which do seem to describe your issues <5> i just installed more <5> to try to get rid of the virus's <0> One approach is to create a new user account on the machine, and see if that new account has the same problem. <0> Then you can determine if IE is broke, or if it's some personal setting that's screwing it up. <8> Hi. Can someone tell me the difference between Windows XP Pro and XP Pro Corporate? <5> yes it does <0> You tried hitting it with Adaware or a similar program? <0> Most of the time, if IE is doing REALLY bizarre crap, it's either some kind of malware, or a misbehaving toolbar/add-on. <8> hijackthis is what you need. <4> opensauce: XP Pro Corporate is I believe the quolloquial (ick) name of a warez release; There is no "corporate" version and any such annotation would have to be describing some sort of corporate or open license from microsoft. <5> lol, screw typing all that, im going to just make it a batch file <8> oh, so it's a hacked up version of XP Pro? <5> what? <4> Yes. <5> (oh i thought you were asking me) <8> It's not in fact XP Pro VLK ? <9> hey can somebody tell me how to link winamp to msn messenger? <5> still dont open new window <10> Cool! Pepsi + CO2 (dry ice) http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xmq1__JsZGk <4> Certain licenses for XP Pro, designed for accomodating corporations might be so described. The volume license key is one method of enabling a business whose needs fit the model. Other than that, there was no server version of XP Pro, so all releases were by defacto workstations, and the imprimatu of corporate refers to the license, not a unique version of XP Pro. <8> Oh. I was under the impression that 'corporate' versions of XP Pro were in fact a colloquialism for XP Pro VLK, which differs from XP Pro in that it does not require activation. <10> i have got to try that someday. <10> all the grocery stores sell dry ice now <0> Ha ha. This is sweet. <8> but thanks for your input
<2> opensauce: that is correct <11> z0g^^ have you ever put dry ice in a platic soda bottle and thrown it to create an explosion <4> Btw, iirc the name of that release was "the devil's own windows xp pro corporate" or something similar. (the warez release) <10> thats what happened in that video <2> that is correct also <11> yup <2> but "corp' has been used for VLK releases for a while <0> Is the build actually different? It's not just the key that says "okay, we don't need to activate this", right? <2> its just meant for enterprise use so it doesnt need to be activated <0> Right. <8> you can't use a standard XP Pro key with the XP Pro VLK product <10> {GZ}Dr3ev: when i was younger, I did something slightly different. I would mix pool "shock" chemical (essentially a superchlorinator) with sugar 50/50, fill an empty soda bottle 1/4 full of that mix, then add a few tablespoons of water, enough to make it into a pasty mesh once mixed, cap it, and in about 1 minute, the chemicals start to react quite vigorously, causing one hell of an explosion, and mess. <0> Okay, so separate build. <8> so I suppose they are in fact different builds <2> not in the sense of "build # 5311" <2> they just have slightly different components <0> Well, in that it's different binaries, to an extent. <2> just like OEM and retail keys are not interchangeable <8> on a side note, i think that it's really very good of microsoft to offer windows server 2003 for free <8> i've been using it for around 2 years now and it's great; very stable. <0> You mean MSDNAA? Or something else? <8> well, it's supposedly a 180 day trial... but a very minor tweaks and the timebomb is removed. <0> I've got 2003 running on my machine. <4> That's nice. <0> And if I could just figure out how to get it to respect the damned Show Script Source setting in IIS, I'd be all set. Ha ha. <4> On a final note, it is well known fact that the vlk that was the basis of "the devil's own" cannot be upgraded to SP2, and is thus at risk of becoming infected or attacked by already documented bugs and such know in release XP Pro and SP1 by disallowing it to be downloaded. <2> well <2> if you use that key you cant <2> VLK is VLK, they just blacklisted known keys that were floating about <12> someone find me a palm 5 irc client that will stay connected in the background <0> Palm = no multitasking, technically. <0> So I doubt you'll find one. <0> The only real multiprocessing that you get is the equivalent of ugly TSRs. Heh. <12> yeah well my aim client is still running <0> Hmm... <0> I think the AIM client installs a small background extension that keeps it alive. <12> my mobile screenname can be imed right now <0> Can't say I've seen any IRC clients that do the same. <12> okay so someone needs to write an irc client that can do it <12> or give me the $300 I need next month to buy my friend's ppc-6700 <13> hawk you gots a treo <13> CONGRATS!!! <12> I got it on tuesday yoy're way behind <14> where is area code 310? <15> !google area code 310 <16> http://www.thedirectory.org/pref/search/310.htm <15> !google us area code map <16> http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/area_code_maps.html <17> la <12> and if everything goes good I am replacing it with a ppc-6700 next month <12> thedirectory has a better database <12> !google area code 310 <10> jeezx. look to the upper-right area of this link. I ***ume they take the full-zoom images from airplane flybys, and the way they stitch them together, looks like something out of Escher. Look at this one, for example: http://philz.org/gmaps_escher.jpg <10> HawkTreo: eh? No ramps etc? <15> yeah, out here its funny when one strip was taken in the summer/fall when the gr***es are golden, and the other in the winter/spring when they are green <12> I would load that but upirc will close <12> zog, its southerb I don't know if you remember how bad it is with regards to that or not <10> i kinda remember southern. we were all rather lit by that point. i remember it having a very nice seating arrangement around the billiards table <10> the restroom right next to the billiards table was absolutely not ADA ready <12> yeah but its about four different levels
