<0> every few hours <1> anyone know if you can install just norton av from norton system works i don't want to install any of it to test it, its for a friend <0> it's like a have functioning bladder :) <0> not sure, but your wanting to do so shows intelligence :) <0> browse the cd for the directory of the av installer <2> look at this ****ing HP <2> http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=139 <2> you gotta stand to use that **** ? <2> or you need to be a giraffe <3> I downloaded some site main index page and it was trying to install something on my pc; i aborted it; what to do with parts of it? <4> The 8088, fist Intel's really successful CPU <4> im going to fist intel hard <2> I should call up HP support <2> and tell them I want support on an HP 9810 <2> http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=938 <5> anyone here know what would cause a computer to not boot from a hdd?
<5> my sisters computer here will boot off a dvdrom. ive installed XP on a hard drive and when it reboots it just stops when it should load XP <5> ive tried resetting bios settings and stuff. ive never seen it before <6> we really don't have enough information to offer any sort of advice.. it could be a virus, or failed hardware... maybe you should try a repair install, or boot to the recovery console and run fixmbr and fixboot, or maybe you should download UBCD4Win and see if you can boot Bart PE and access the HD from there <6> or put the HD in another computer <6> and see if you can access it <5> well the hard drive has had a low level format done <5> and its the only drive <5> so it shouldnt be the MBR <6> so you ahve a formatted HD <4> you think an old HP-35 is worth anything? <6> and you're wondering why its not booting <5> like i said <5> i installed XP on it <6> if you low level formatted it (unlikley, modern IDE HDs don't get "low level formatted") <5> ive tried multiple drives also <6> then it's empty <7> hey guys whats a good remote backup util for windows? <7> i want to sync with an ftp site <5> well off to tinkering with it again <5> i guess im on my own <8> Vova; for file synchronization, I use rsync <8> usually at least one end is unix/linux anyways <8> but there are rsync ports for win2k/xp <4> most of which **** <8> eh, they work. <8> i use the cygwin rsync client all the time to update websites <4> im not using them for anything critical <4> although our backups for linux/unix use ubsync which actually seems really stable <4> which is suprising <8> i need to get the linux agent for hp data protector (omniback) <8> 4 of them in fact <4> havent used that <4> one <4> bbs****s <8> hey, this dvdrw drive I just got (oem 'sony' really liteon), came with "NTI DVDRW Maker" ... is that total junk? <9> NTI works decently, but it's not the best. <9> If you don't want to pay for DVD burning software, use it. <8> hmm. cnet says its pretty good for data backup <8> i've got nero and alcohol licenses :D <9> peerce: cnet also swears by Geek Squad and SpySweeper <4> does geek squad ****? <8> tru <9> Geek Squad = Sales Team On Wheels <4> so they don't do a good job? <6> if you pay them to install a HD, does the HD not get installed? <4> im more concerned about reliability and scheduling <6> isn't the geek squad for consumers? <9> More like they CAN'T do a good job. The Geek Squad is a direct promotion from sales. You can't get hired into the Geek Squad without sales experience. <9> They can fix small issues fine, but anything complex they'll need to send it back to their depot. <9> And scam as much money from you as possible. <10> http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2355634961125449383 <- what not to do when staring down your opponent. <4> well i was thinking about contacting them for a marketing agreement <4> for our 170 sites <4> seeing if they could do an SLA <8> muahahaha. some fair tests of NTI :D http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=NTI_CD%26DVD-Maker#usercomments <4> in return for promotion to tenants <8> Years later, and versions later, and this software still ****s. This time, it erased my ATA card optical devices, and it rewrote drivers and remapped some disk drive letters. <8> or... " I've had some bad software in my day, but this is the worst piece of crap ever made for a PC. It not only didn't install, it RUINED my system. Back in early 2002, I got a Lite-On CD-R drive that came with this software. It installed itself when I told the disc to install ONLY the drivers, and then it proceeded to destroy the registry. <11> Why would anyone even consider using anything but Nero? <8> nero7 is kinda rough still <4> yeah
<4> its combersome <4> o/u <11> Oh. I still have 6 something <11> 6.6.0.12 <4> god dmanit <4> im going to have to take this digital mixer in <8> urrent version: .0.1.4b <8> Release Date: December 22nd, 2005 <4> its going to end costing me 500 bucks i bet to fix <8> hmmm, thats newer than the last one I tried. <12> my HD ****s my xxxx <6> your four exs? <8> is that a threat or a promise? <6> does it **** them all at once <6> or one at a time <12> both. <12> Jet, and that wasn't really funay <6> fun-eh <13> padius disc juggler <13> mmm, mmm, mmmm <4> what is the executable for ms messenger called? <4> nm <14> msmcnsmghgs <14> Something like that. <4> gee thanks :>) <14> :) <12> . <15> odd <4> rworks been over to my area recently? <15> these TV shows, all eps are the same size <15> 357MB <15> I mean, after the "MB" they're different... <15> but still, you'd think you compress an hour of video and it would result in slightly different sized <11> http://www.frontx.com/cpx509.html <4> maybe its a set limit, some files consisting of whitespace <11> Okay, that cable there. Does that look like what you would need if you had a firewire card that had an internal port instad of an internal header ... and you needed to connect to the header style cable from front panel firewire ports on a ch***is? <11> Okay, yeah it is. <8> heh. interesting way of putting this... <8> Please be aware that, even though Data Protector does enforce some license schemes, with the current release it does not enforce the complete license structure. <8> For example, Data Protector does not enforce the read operation from a drive, to make sure that in case of a disaster recovery customers do not need to deal with missing license keys. <8> Hawkeye; the header on the motherboard, is it pins or sockets ? <8> because that adapter you showed has pins, so it plugs into a socket strip <8> oh, that cable is ALL backwards. <8> thats for snaking out of the back of your case, and plugging into a back Firewire socket, and connecting the front panel to that <8> oh, wait. i see, your card HAS a 1394 socket on it? and you got a header cable on the front panel. <8> then yeah, that connector WOULD do what you want. <8> mea culpa <16> Hello World! <11> peerce, there is *no* header on the motherboard. <11> In fact, at no point did I say anything about a motherboard. <0> wheat thins are good <6> Baracuda: I love veggie thins with some cheese on it <0> those are good too <6> great <6> now I'm hungry <0> so I shouldn <0> 't mention the pork chop and applesauce? <6> we had pork chops tonight too <6> shake n' bake <0> :) <6> which is unusual for a weeknight <6> but we had them defrosted already <0> unusual for me too o <0> meat is for weekend <6> hehe <6> We go shopping sunday, I'm convinced we need a case of Presidents Choice White Cheddar Mac & Cheese <6> we get home <6> we already had two cases <6> :( <6> I missed them because they were under a case of tomato soup <6> Case of Campbells tomato soup: $5.98 <0> it's ok. that stuff probably has a 100 year shelf life
